i was looking at old posts and i found this one where John (southside) was deciding whether to by the POTF Biker Scout proof for $500. I think this is the link..

Going rate for POTF proofs?

anyway, a month before C2 I bought the POTF Snaggletooth blank back proof for $700 from CC. I know this was Denny's originally (b/c it came with that photo tape to keep it from moving around on the comic back board) and I know a month later I could have gotten it in that hotel room.

My main question is what's rarer? The blank back or printed back. The one I have is very, very thin stock with 4 square corners and no punch lines or outline at all. The back is tan like post office paper. next step to thin would be paper. how many blank backs exist?

i know some of you guys out there bought some proofs before C2 and had the same "sigh" i have.

Based on the POTF proofs I have, they are pretty evenly distributed between the blank back and printed back. I really don't know what the original count was, but I will try to find out for you.

I know it seems like you should have waited on that proof now, but what if you did wait and someone in line ahead of you bought it. You'd really be kicking yourself then.

yeah, i have thought about that situation. probably would have attacked the guy who bought it and then the sale would have ended WAY before it did that night. just imagine people carrying proof cards handcuffed and being escorted out by Indianapolis police for brawling.

well at least a held out enough to get the 20bk snag proof that night.

Dan,

Off topic I know but I'm curious as to why you wont ship any of the remaining proofs overseas?

It was financially impossible for me to get to C2, not to mention work commitments, so when you advertised that you were selling the remaining proofs off through the forums I was stoked - thinking maybe I could get a bit of the cherry!

This is a very international forum these days, with collectors from Europe, the Far East and Australia making up a good portion of the participants - 99.99% of us are good people who would go to great lengths to help out a fellow collector, so why not ship to us?

Dont mean to sound like I'm ranting, just wondering what the problem was with international buyers.

<font size="2" face="arial">It definitely does not have anything to do with not trusting my international collector friends. I have done tons of overseas deals, but only when I was personally taking the risk on the items.

There just isn't a sufficient level of security available in keeping the packages from arriving searched or damaged.

Since I am selling the items for someone else, I can't afford to take the financial loss due to lost or damaged items. For US shipments, I can fully insure the packages.

Hey, After reading miscus's orginal post I think I may have a 21-back back. It is just like he said, unpunched, thin stock, front is like brown paper, but the corners are rounded). I did get it from a guy who worked at kenner but I never thought much about it. I just put it on my wall. Is there anyone I could send some pics to to help me identify this. Thanks Ryan

<font size="2" face="arial">Hey I remember that thread.
I did end up getting it for that price and I am very happy w/ it.

A buddy of mine actually wound up scoring a sample (4 round corners no punch) version of the same card from C2. Now if I didn't have mine yet it would have turned into a race. I didn't know at the time so there's no use crying and at least neither one of us had to smile graciously b/c the other got it.

As for rariy I'm not really sure. I think w/ POTF cards it can really go either way.

John

Ryan, if you want you can send them to me at john@daddysnaggle.com. If anything, I can post them on my web server so the *real* experts here can look at it.

The proofs get kind of lost in there and I'm looking for something that's quite slim.
<font size="2" face="arial">Dude, they're just top loaders. They are exactly like the ones used for Baseball and SW cards. They are photograph sized though. They are exactly 6x9 so the proofs fit PERFECT. I picked them up for $3 each at a local comic shop. I'm ordering acryllic stands to put them on.
