Why is it that Boushh hasn't been given more history or EU?

I've always found it odd that Boushh was of course referenced as the bounty hunter Leia impersonated whom was killed by Black Sun, but he's really never Givin (..see that?) any expansive history or EU tales like so many other "disposable" characters. Even his people weren't elaborated on very much, curious... am I the only one who's wondered about this? (...does anyone care, LOL!!)

But I would have liked to see more background on the Ubese species. Maybe it's possible to see him show up in Han Solo, I'm sure that he had more than Greedo and Boba after him.

For years, I was unaware "Boushh" was an actual individual. I thought Leia just made him up on the spot. I was surprised when it turned out he actually used to be someone.

I also said his name as "Bow-sh," as opposed to "Boo-sh."

I think it had a line or two saying Leia got the armour from Boushh but I don't think it went into any detail. I could be wrong though, it's been many years since I've read SotE.

I don't believe so, pretty vague if I recall correctly, but it's been eons since I read the SOTE novel also. Quick peek at Wookieepedia had nothing, hence the thread. LOL Star Trek is good at that. I too also read it as Bowsh in the past.

I never read it but pretty sure he/she is in the cover.

I didn't take to the stories in the Marvel comics at all.I want the "further adventures of Luke Skywalker" to be an animated series with comics spinning from that because the writers on the comics are just not worthy of telling the official story.

The comic strips at that link seem good though. One shots or mini series about supporting characters keen this guy does is the way marvel should have done it.

I didn't take to the stories in the Marvel comics at all.

The comics here are fan stories; no Marvel products.

Strangely, I never especially liked the new Marvel tales either. The original Marvels from the 70's/80's were corny, but I liked them at the time, and they formed the foundation for my understanding of the timeline and the characters. They were colorful and fast, and they felt large.

These original comics seemed to go on forever... although in retrospect, it was only barely more than 100 issues covering all the time between AHN and ESB, ESB and ROTJ, and some months beyond, plus some flashbacks. The new comics just drag out endlessly and don't manage to capture my imagination - and they needed 75 issues just to get from ANH to ESB, while ironing flat all the details of the old series (plus the Darth Vader series).

There are doubtlessly good ideas in the new series - things like having Luke learn about Obi-Wan through his diary (which seems to be missing some critical information though), learning how to handle a lightsaber somehow, or showing some Rebellion politics.

But then they come along with dragged-out storylines like Shu-Torun, or try to top the OT with their own creations (looky, we have a better and bigger Hutt than Jabba, and he has LEGS!). Not to mention that Aphra character and her torture droids. Seems too sadistic for Star Wars after all. (And once again, an archaeologist/treasure hunter with no proper GFFA history to give it context? And reviving even Tython from the dead Old EU...)

Quite a lot the original Marvel stuff was a bit "way out there" but is still fun to read even now but there was quite a lot of good stuff too like the Crimson Forever and Screams in the Void stories - and the Goodwin/Williamson stuff was good too.

I can't quite explain what it is about about the new Marvel comics that is wrong and for the life of me I cannot figure why there is no post-ANH Luke Skywalker animated series. I love Rebels but have been baffled how a cartoon of Luke, Han, etc. was not the first think Disney wanted.

A GFFA archaeologist/treasure seeker is a great idea and I bought some issues of Aphra because it about new characters. It was not very good at all - a lot of cliched nonsense.

I'm going to read the comics at that link. I want to know what fan art and writing is like.

There's been old expanded universe backstory for the original Boushh character.

Some of you really need to go re-read Shadows of the Empire. Book explains enough about how Leia got Boushh's helmet etc

My biggest problem with Leia's Boushh was that she seemed way too tiny for the character, and the new Hasbro version of her looks even more petite next to other figures. I mean could you imagine if she had impersonated 4-Lom or Zuckuss? Although Zuckuss does seem on the shorter side.

I will need to re-read SOTE as well. One of EU stories out there IMO.

I would love to learn more about Boushh myself. I am also hoping that we see Bossk or Q-Lom in the Book of Boba Fett.

Everything done before Disney and not depicted in movies or TV series is "Legends", including SOTE. Disney may or may not re-canonize this stuff later, but since Disney makes changes even to their own canon AFAIHH (see Bad Batch's insertion of Clone Force 99 into Kanan Jarrus' original comic book) by now it's all left to your headcanon.

As the current Star Wars comics cover the time between Ep V and VI, it's comparatively safe to assume SOTE will only remain as "source of ideas" for Marvel, if at all. But we may get surprised.

From the Previews previews, "delete". There are characters like Valance (who was long dead by that time in the Old EU) and Aphra (who didn't exist in the Old EU) involved, and the whole crossover involves all ongoing titles so it's bound to be a rather sprawling event.

I hate crossovers.

Given that the whole SOTE thing spanned books, comics, games, and probably cereal packaging and pogo stick adverts, the only way to get all of the story is probably Wookieepedia. Remember that none of these things was truly an "adaption" of another, but all contained segments not found in the others.

The one good thing coming from Disney's deletion of the Old EU may be that this crazy "IG-88 exists multiple times but also not" and "IG-88 is the brain of the Death Star now" garbage is gone. Phew.

The Old EU held together surprisingly well given the fact that Lucas himself didn't care for it at all. I just wish they had some better storytellers for certain things, and didn't go to outrageous lengths to explain everything and glue it all together and make sense of obvious nonsense. There was a lot of gap-fillers (and naturally, the idea of a multi-author tale creates huge issues, but I guess that goes too far to discuss here).

I was being facetious with IG-88; naturally I wouldn't want to use that failed obscure fringe episode to justify anything Disney did, or did not, in the ST.

I still read the comics; I do hope the "War of the Bounty Hunters" will not be a worse disaster.
