BS and BC have still not hit any walmarts i've been to in the whole state of Wisconsin. The irony being that they're all over Minnesota of course.

I almost wanna give up on WM

got a lone Anakin warming for the last 2 weeks.
i think it's from the initial case they put out, they've re-stocked Mission & Legends but not Black Series.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes the two walmarts near me that I cleared out to restock the Black Series. On one hand, it's good that so little of these are pegwarming, but on the other hand, stores are apparently keeping a *very* low level of stock on the line... Hopefully wave 2 starts hitting in decent numbers soon.

I wish the Walmart nearest me had anything Star Wars related at all that wasn't Lego.

One of my Wallies does as well. You know, big retail could kill the line by themselves, regardless of whether Hasbro improves distribution or the consumers find these palatable.

A few of my local Walmarts have dropped Star Wars altogether. There's something a little unsettling about going to the toy aisle and not seeing any Star Wars at all.

So far I've been able to see pretty much all of the Black Series and the 5POA stuff. The single packs seem to sell pretty well (Obi-Wan, Mace and R4 seem to be the ones who hang around the most), but the two-packs barely move. I have yet to find a Walmart that didn't have at least two of each one. The Utapau troop/battle droid seems to be the biggest clunker. The biggest turd on the shelf is still Angry Birds, which take almost half of the allotted Star Wars space and never move. I'm as shocked as you guys are.

One interesting little thing, though. In my city, two Walmarts opened up last week. I went to both of them and found them decently stocked, but both of them also had the same weird oddity: they both had some of the 3D wave figures, mostly the two Naboo pilots and Qui-Gon. I thought maybe they'd found a box of these in distribution and decided to put them up or something, but at both stores the figures had the tell-tale layer of dust that could only mean they'd been on the pegs for a while. Really, Walmart? You're moving your unsold toys to your grand opening locations now?

Yep, I saw it more than a few times when I was a Hasbro rep; Walmart boxes up the "dogs" and sends them out to the new store opening.

Found the Giant Darth Vader yesterday at Walmart for $15
That was quick. Good job waiting way too long to make this product, toy industry. There was a time those wouldn't have lasted very long at $30. PS I want the other half of my 30 bucks back!

Why? Is the excitement of a new store supposed to make people more willing to buy them? Has this ever actually worked with action figures?

That picture is a 75KB example of the current state of toys. It's grandiose ideas that would've blown us away as kids, but generally aren't what today's kids or adult collectors are aiming to get. Don't get me wrong--I got one. But it's in my daughter's room and we both regret having it! It's miles of plastic taking up continents of shelf space, and in my experience it appears not to be selling too well, clearly already reduced in some places to half price.

All my WMs have these Vaders and Angry Birds and a weird late assortment of TVC, mainly Episode I (some Bens Q, Daultay Dofine, Naboo Royal Guard, and Quinlan Vos), as well as some Discover The Force. Not too long ago (over the summer), there was a Boba Fett Electronic Helmet still down on the bottom shelf. Now it's a lot of lightsabers hanging up and falling down all over everything. Also, the same Mawhonic with 3D glasses has been in the same spot for definitely a year. There were two pegs with TBS and two with MS, but I don't think they've ever been restocked. There's very few left. There's one pink Biggs with his bubble coming off and a few Anakins. The Mission stuff isn't selling too well, but it seems to diminish a fig or two every week.

Maybe by next month there will be room for Wave 2 on the two BS pegs and maybe on the two MS pegs. But the other 6 pegs are a bunch of old leftovers which, apparently, the department is content to keep around literally forever.

I'm baffled that they decided to release that giant Vader. I know a lot of the stuff we're seeing now was produced with ROTS 3D in mind, but even with the movie to promote it, that big Vader is a bit of a hard sell since it's a giant thing that doesn't really do much. Without the movie, then it's just a massive dud. Kids aren't really excited about Vader (or Star Wars, really) right now. I get that this was produced with a different plan in mind, but what in the world made them decide to release that thing anyway? Was Lucasfilm putting a gun to their head? Was it so expensive to produce that they were desperate to recoup any part of the production costs? Nothing about Big Vader makes any sense.

The 3D wave is still a blight and naturally, Walmart has been putting them on clearance for the low low price of $10 (years of seeing Walmart put a red "CLEARANCE" sticker on something with the exact same price it had before and I'm still amazed that they do this ****). I remember a time when I was afraid that the Walmart exclusive wave would be hard to find. I never imagined they would still be clogging shelves almost two years after release. Fighter Pods have all vanished only to be replaced by Angry Birds, which I never see in scarcity but I'm sure Hasbro is going to insist that they sell like porn-covered hotcakes if we ask them, just like they did with Fighter Pods (which they threw in the trash very quickly). Walmarts don't even have vehicles. Some Targets don't have the class 2 shrunken ship things but I have yet to see a Target that doesn't at least have the class 1 assortment. And you mentioned lightsabers, those exclusive Qui-Gon sabers are still around, and look, we have a color change Anakin/Vader saber that's also not moving. And a Anakin-to-Vader doll that apparently won some award at a British toy show (how?) and oh what a surprise it's just sitting there.

Look, I can excuse the Anakin/Vader lightsabers and big electronic whatever thing because Hasbro did put a lot of money into this nonsense and movie or no movie they need to make some return on it. But that Big Vader, what return to they expect on that? Shelves and shelves of Angry Birds, featuring a big set with PANAKA BIRD! Oh hey, they colored his bird brown so we'd know the character is supposed to be a black guy! How could our lives have been complete without a racially accurate representation of a cartoon bird version of Captain ****ing Panaka? When are we getting the Ric Olie Bird that says "You're paying money for a terrible cash in, we are birds now" on the box? Oh, and the smaller ones come with little telepod things that let you do something or other in the app itself because this is something our lives were not complete without, the chance to pay six dollars so that you can now fling a Jar Jar bird at blocks with battle droid pigs on them.

Who buys this ****?!

My Walmart must have given up on Star Wars. Even before TBS was announced, they put their entire stock in the clearance isle but keep TVC priced at $9.96. There is no allocation of new Star Wars items except LEGO. There has always been something wrong with this Walmart. They never carried the BMF or Jabba. Luckily, they did get the exclusive comic packs, but other than that the "boys" section of the toys is half the size of the "girls" section.
No sign of TBS (or Saga Legends or Angry Birds) to ever be. Similar thing to the closest K-mart. They only have Saga Legends and nothing else. No room to expand. Not even for their Ewok/Imperial exclusives.
Same thing here (western suburbs of Philadelphia, PA) there's no Star Wars except for LEGO sets, and there aren't even empty pegs for stuff at the two WalMarts I visited this week. I'm guessing the toy-buyer for these stores feels the stuff isn't going to sell.

Ironically, I would have probably gotten the Big Vader if it had been released with a lightsaber w/removable blade, and if at least one of the hands had been able to hold the lightsaber. However, I completely agree the figure is a dud - it does come with an unlit lightsaber handle that the figure can't even hold, so IMHO the figure is quite boring & somewhat cheap-looking. Too bad, because the inner kid in me would have really liked this oversized figure. As it stands, however, the 12" Hasbro electronic DV figure that came out circa 1998 (w/removable helmet, lines from the films, and lightsaber w/blade) is far superior to this version.

Re: Wal-mart in general, I've seen very few TBS figures there, just some Legends figures, and in some cases some common TVC figures. Maybe things will get better as the holidays come closer.

If I have the misfortune of seeing these pieces of crap in stores, I will purposely put figures from other lines in front of them. The people on that show make my flesh crawl - it horrifies me that they are being touted as role models for young children. Now that I think about it, how much do you want to bet Hasbro's next big idea after Angry Birds stops rotting on the pegs will be a Star Wars/Duck Dynasty line of figures?

Costco has a variant with a saber and electronics, in case you missed it.
Yeah, I did miss this - Thanks. I'm not a Costco member so won't be able to get this, but good to know that it's out there somewhere. Re: the Big Vader @ Wal-mart, I'm thinking (but could be wrong) that this will sell better than it has been as the holidays come closer. Just my opinion, however.

Hopefully Wal-mart will get Wave 2 of TBS in. Some stores don't appear to have even gotten Wave 1, so we'll see what happens.

Walmart, I really loathe you lately. The shrunken Star Wars section (nonexistent on at least one South Jersey Walmart) depresses me, and there's annoying Duck Dynasty crap all over the store. I didn't think the show was bad until Walmart started cramming it down my throat whenever I do groceries. I even saw Duck Dynasty Chia Pets, which makes Star Wars Angry Birds look genius in comparison. Ugh. Sorry had to get that off my chest. If Walmart is the first NJ store to get Wave 2 I'll temporarily forgive them.

Walmart isn't the only one with a shrunken SW section. Target is the same way as well. TRU seems to be the only retail store I've seen that carries more than just a little product, and typically their selection isn't that great. Strange, since with the holidays coming up you would think these SW sections would increase. I guess it just illustrates that kids just aren't as much into toys as they used to be.

Too bad, because I remember how large the SW toy section was in stores during the heyday of the modern line, i.e. POTF2 - Episode I (roughly 1995 - 2000). Things have definitely changed...

But in reality, don't we owe Hasbro for this. Because for some reason wave 2 was canceled or something, due to low interest?

Target's SW section has been about the same size for awhile. And at least they're stocking 6" TBS and were smart enough to clearance out MH and CW instead of moving them to the clearance aisle and keeping them the same price like Walmart tends to do. Walmart probably feels that they got burnt by all the TPM exclusives they committed to that didn't sell, so they're "playing it safe" with SW for the time being. And Masterfett, don't scare me like that.

So the post-Episode 1 curse strikes again. The same thing happened with the original line, there was so much crap leftover that a lot of stores didn't even bother ordering POTJ, and the few that did gave them maybe two pegs and/or put them in some out of the way section of the toy department. I can understand Walmart's hesitation, but that doesn't explain why they're not willing to stock any of the vehicle assortments but ARE willing to stock the overprice, space-wasting Angry Birds stuff that wasn't selling before and isn't selling now.

Or that damn Big Vader. Who seriously thought that was a good idea?

What's worse is that the 31" tall Vader is now being joined by 31" 501st clones and shock troopers...

Maybe---maybe---Vader interests enough people to sell a few, but huge clones? That, I don't get at all.

I wouldn't underestimate that big Vader. That's the exact kind of big affordable kids gift Christmas was made for.

I will bet my collection that none of us ever see Wave 2 in stores. Not in any quantity. It'll be like Vintage, with any good figs one in a million. Yes, retail is to blame, and LFL. But ultimately Hasbro.

I"M SO ANGRY!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Okay, feeling better...

I still haven't seen any store get a decent amount of TBS stock. Kmart, Target, and TRU are the only places I've seen TBS. No Walmarts so far, and every Fred Meyer I've been to doesn't carry the line!

How exactly is one suppose to buy/support a line that isn't widely available at retail in the first place?
Considering Wave 2 is an EU wave, I totally expect it to get the same treatment that nay other EU wave got! So yes I expect not to see it at retail, and for certain figures to be HTF and command high Dollars on ebay!

3.75" Black Series figures were falling off the pegs at Wally when I was there earlier today.
Looks like they had 2 cases, plus the leftover Biggs and Anakin figures from a previous case.

Ive seen a decent selection of the Black Series figures not just at Wally World, but at Shopko and Target. Its mostly Biggs, 2 Anakin figures, 2-3 Biker Scouts and at least one to two Yavin celebration Luke Skywalker figures.
