Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Hasbro say in the latest round of Q&A that the whole street date thing was part of a strategy to allow enough time to purge existing stock so the new line would not be mixed in with older product. Well, heck! they succeeded. So, bring on the new stuff already!!
Oh. Well, maybe I'm just recalling your hypothesis. I knew I'd read it somewhere. Forgive my selective memory...I am an old man, after all.Jibba said:So they confirmed that that was the reason? Now, see, that's just silly. They'll put movie-related toys on the shelves several weeks out from the actual film's release only to put said toys on clearance a month later (read, Prince of Persia). Yet a proven money-maker like Star Wars has near-empty pegs for what seems like an eternity waiting on a new TV season. I'm sorry, but that's just goofy.jabbabon said:They said its to gear up for season 3 of clone wars in US

I agree, a brief hiatus has been done with all line changes just not quite as long as this years, so it was no surprise to me.Lord_Atmo said:I'm gonna go with the purge storyline on this one. IMO the date on the box is basically a promotional date so they can make sure product is on the shelf for TCW launch though, and not a hard street date. If I remember correctly it's the same wording as the TLC boxes had, whereas the ROTS actually had a street date on the box.

That same Wal Mart also had CV promo stickers on 2008 TLC figures (Breha Organa, among others).
Having seen that sticker on that particular figure, I defy Hasbro to tell me that this CV drawing is anything other than a complete scam to move crappy, two-year-old product.
I can't believe part of Hasbro's "strategy" with its retail partners is to have barren shelves for six weeks in the middle of the summer, when kids (their biggest buyers, according to Hasbro) are more prone to be roaming the stores.
I swear, after 15 years with the modern line, it feels like Hasbro's distribution practices get worse year by year.

Of course, they make it up by having everybody go around asking if they need help finding stuff, to give the appearance of staffing.

QFT!
This is my daily struggle. Even when we're making sales forecasts, we're still asking people to not come in for shifts, or have others leave early. I'm getting too old for this...
