Vizam - #17

I'd certainly chip in too. That site is too good to loose for collectors. I'm working on one myself for the battle of Yavin.

I love the new Vizam figure. Awesome progress.

I had been running that site at a financial loss for almost 5 years. It costs me roughly $87 a year just to keep the site up, which doesn't seem like a huge amount of money; but it can be a bit of a burden during the lean winter months where I live. Plus, that amount is more than double what I actually spent on new Star Wars figures in 2013.

With my interest in Star Wars seeming to diminish more and more each day in 2013, I just felt that it was an expense that I could no longer justify. That's really all it was, no cease and desist order from Disney or anything that interesting.

I still have the domain until the 14th of January, so I'll see what my year end budget looks like and, if I can manage to set aside a bit of money, I could still put the site back up. Other options would be using a free web hosting service, but that means advertisements and lots of them, or I could just ask for donations to keep the site running, but I'm not really comfortable with that solution at all.
You might look into advertising, I'd hate to see such a great site go away. I remember around 07 when several SW sites went bye bye, due to the fall off of followers after no more movies. The internet seemed like barren wasteland.

I'd also be interested if you get a donation drive going.

I don't know when that first Vizam was made but I like the sassy thing he's doing with his hips there.

Anyway, I just got my Black Series Vizam in the mail from Amazon. Not even going to bother with retail anymore. Love this guy. One of my few highlights from Hasbro this year.

Lol the old Vizam was from '98
IMO its not a bad figure, and it held up ok (much better than some POTF2 monstrosities), but this is a big improvement.

The old electrostaff ax there is still a cool weapon.

Got this figure for Christmas :). The blue on the sleeves is definitely not as bright as some pictures make it out to be. A very nice figure overall!

Got him for Christmas as well. Have to agree about the blue sleeves being more subdued in person. Very happy with this figure. Only complaints would be the mismatched knees and the cheap feeling cannon. I switched it out for the one nysad came with. For some reason on my copy the cannon was separated from the arm that clips it to the railing, and the ball joint refuses to connect together.

I had the same problem, and came up with the same solution. Though I did get the ball joint to cooperate eventually.

hey folks. to make a long story short, hasbro toy shop screwed up my order and now i have an extra vizam to unleash, at cost ($8.65). i will post this in the classifieds as well. shoot me a pm if you're interested. thanks scummers!

Excuse me, but it looked like to me he was moaning since he did say The Hasbro toy shop "screwed" up and gave him an extra one.

I don't know, he seemed pretty reasonable. I've had a figure missing in one of my orders, so HTS does indeed screw up from time to time.

Thanks guys!

What figure is at the back, out of focus next to Bane Malar? Is it Pote Snitkin?

Correct. I'd love to see pote get an update someday (articulation), but for a potf2 figure his sculpt is spot on.

Great pic, Scarrviper! Did you make the dungeon diorama yourself? It's even got sand!! That is so cool!

Yup, I built it. I've built roughly half of jabba's throne room but not all of it is finished. It's a modular setup for now since I don't have a floor/board big enough for it.

Picked up the only Vizam I saw @ Target - superb sculpt, and I like the addition of the deck gun - very nice. Though I'm usually not a huge fan of resculpts, I was looking through my POTF2 collection recently & happened to find the old Skiff guards three pack from the late '90's. Though the Vizam that came with that was OK for the time, this new one is a HUGE improvement; and, it makes that old POTF2 figure look like a piece of Bantha poodoo....

Kudos to Hasbro for coming out with this great alien figure. Bring on more skiff guards & Jabba's palace characters - I want them all!

I love the deck gun, they have to have a skiff of some sorts in the mocking since the gun has a slot where it will attach to a side rail.

I don't have the new one yet, but based on pics and comparisons, there are some advantages to the old version. In particular, the puffiness of the pants sculpt and the shin armor, and POTF2 often got colors closer to film accuracy. But obviously the articulation, sculpted wrinkles, and face sculpt detail are all miles better.

THis figure is truly amazing. Mine has a perfect pain job and the face looks spectacular.

Totally agree. The new one is nice, but like SO many of the SA figures, he's just too lanky and skinny. Also, the lack of shin guards and funky wide stance really hurt this guy.

I love the deck gun but would love the deck even more. A barge deck to be exact!

This gun mould fits perfectly on to the rail of the existing skiff. Looks good too.

I saw this figure for the first time today. No intentions to buy because I love the first version, but I was pleasantly surprised by the blue not being as garish as expected. The paint wash was well overdone, however. Ruined it to my eyes.

Just ordered this guy from HTS today because I finally had enough stuff to order for free shipping. Looking forward to adding him to my small henchmen display.

yea the older Hasbro Tatooine Desert Skiff holds up well and a must for the collection.

For me, this guy is the only great figure from this line so far, picks up where the vintage collection left off. Also the best Xmas gift I got.

Agreed. I've picked up 3 of him so far, mostly for customs, but one to display. Absolutely terrific figure---even with the oversight of the shin guards. The blue coloring on his tunic sleeves looks pretty good to me as well; no problems there. Great figure!

Strangely, he's starting to hang on the pegs a little bit around here. Hit a target today that had 3 Vizam figures and *no* others. Seems weird to me since he looks so great, but...

I'll pick one up if I see him at retail. One of my targets doesn't even stock TBS 3 3/4. The other just had Biggs and Ani.

FINALLY found one today at K-Mart. Love it. I'll still take these SA figures over the 5 POA trend happening these days...

Dude, don't you live in Covington/Mandeville area, come to the south shore and hit the Disney store, they are loaded with every figure except Plag!!!

Sure do! This K-Mart (the only one we have!) had one case of all of them. Unfortunately, I only buy OT characters, so I just needed Vizam :p
