Re: CV

Well guess seeing Vikings in person didn't bring them any luck. Great taking in a game.

CV is possible since we have family in Florida, but not for certain yet. Hate to miss out on these tickets if we hold off to think about it.

Hey Tuskens.. I picked up an AT-AT driver.. removable helmet is cool..if you want him he is yours.. I also found the concept Snow Trooper.. very wierd looking but cool.. Merc wrote he has the At-Te driver?? maybe a typo? anyway Star Wars celebration is out for me too cant make Florida.. woulda gone if it had been Los Angeles or Pheonix.. sigh maybe next year..
Sure on the AT-AT driver...C6 probably wont happen until 2013 for the 30th of ROTJ...

GG

Well for those who collect Gentle Giant, here is a staement from a former sculptor...This might explain why GG has poor everything...The sad thing is that for me Im done with GG anyways. Ive picked up only 2 busts in 2009 and I might get 4-lom just to finish off my Bounty Hunters...Also, I plan on selling off all my maquettes, all my pre-OT busts, some OT busts and all bust-ups...

Anyways, here is the thread..

GG is lacking, and i've sold near everything but the Rancor (keeping it).

But SS has had alot of problems as of late...paint cracking busts and statues. And they knew about it?

I honestly don't let the delays bother me. Its not like they do anything once I get them, they just sit there in my detolf. It does suck to keep seeing new stuff but never getting it. I am really starting to think about going strictly SS Premium Format. Although it will be tough to let GG go despite the shortcomings, I love their products

Re: GG

I don't mind the delays too much. I just hate when I get hit for so much at once. I got the new Boba maquette this week, rex and yakface are shipping this week then in two weeks the commandos are shipping. luckily i have the cash for it, but just sucks to see almost $500 gone in two weeks. Plus when everything else starts coming out too.

Re: GG

Personally I really don't mind delays, however, if there epic ones like GG's 1-2 years now on some stuff...also I HATE when things all come at one time...I guess that's another reason I love SSC, they have flex pay options, so this month alone I placed 4 items on flex...now I need to come up with next month's vig...

Cancelled my GG republic commandos bust. I'm not feeling GG as much, I'm just going to focus on OT...if that.

Re: SDCC - CV

Well I haven't ordered anything in a while period. 1/4 Scale is about it... Luke and Yoda/Clone, but none of the other recent ones. I love the 1/4 scale the most... think you get the most bang for your buck, but that being said they take alot of space so trying to be picky about them. 4-LOM will probably be my on GG bust this year. Yep, think I have gone a year without any new GG stuff, but maybe I am forgetting something.

Well, all confirmed for Celebration V as far as hotel and tickets. Just need a hotel at one of the Disney Resorts for our pre-trip. Think Epcot Sunday, Animal Kingdom Monday and combination of MGM and maybe Magic Kingdom on Tuesday - check out late Tuesday and in to our Convention Hotel Tuesday night - do Universal Wednesday and probably one other day we don't go to CV - don't think we will be at CV everyday but who knows.

A belated Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year to all!

TR, the link for the GG thread takes me to a login site for that forum. Can you repost or point me to the thread? I'd love to read that as I've got very little love for GG. I also about fell out of my chair laughing at your "vig" comment, which is right on the button.

The post/thread got killed. I assume that Karl (GG's owner) probably sent a threating letter to Statueforum to pull the thread. In a nutshell a former GG sculptor basically stated that GG had super dis-organginzation, paid their sculptor's below market, have high turn over rate, the owner really doesn't care about Star Wars and the owner/top excs dont give a ****...GG only cares about is its dineros...

Oh, yeah the vig comment is pretty good...Its about $300/400 a month for the next 3-4 months...ouch.

Re: Merry Christmas

But if you look at their products, it would be a pretty minor company without all the SW items... you would think they'd put much more stock in their flagship.

Actually Gentle Giant does most if not all of the image scanning for Hollywood movies. Next time you watch a flick, check the credits and more than likely you will see GG studios listed. As far as products go SW is their main item, but the bulk of their income comes from the film industry.

I said SD vs GB in the Super Bowl before the season(in the NFL thread)and I have a good shot at SD making it

Came to gloat?

I would love to see Minn. v anyone and Brett get MVP and his second ring. The bad part would be that Favre would more than likely actually retire...ala John Elway.

Sideshow

Not sure how many of you collect Sideshow...but they just had the 12 days after Christmas...Basically everyday a new release...well it didn't really blow the roof off, but the was some really cool items.

Here is what was announced.
Indy Jones: Mola Ram PF (Im going to order this), best piece of the 12 days IMO.

Disney: Malecaint PF & Chernbog PF, both very cool, but not my cup of tea.

Conan: Conan dio, with a big booty hottie on his shoulders, again its cool, but I cant drop $200+ for some tail, well unless I go to the Shady Lady.

Horror: Jason Comiquette & Buffy statue, a little weak...and a HUGE pass on my end.

Marvel: Bullseye & Carnage comiquette...these are both very cool, but the Carnage would definitely have to added to my collection.

LOTR: Gandalf the Grey PF, this is a must for me one of the best, next to Mola.

Star Wars: Well they got 3 items. Aurra Sing PF, it's cool, but Im not spending anymore on EU, so a pass. Two diorama's Yoda v. Sidious and Leia v. Jabba. Pass on Yoda, but a MUST on Leia v. Jabba. I just hope the scale is right.

Not gloating its just that I knew Denver was playing WAY WAY over their heads and didnt have the personnel to play that way all year long.Kyle Orton was due to fall apart and he did making this team average at best.

Oh CF...I was just kidding...Yeah, Denver was playing some real weak teams and when they beat Dallas, all the talk started and SD was starting slow like always. Oh well. Good call.

Re: Hiya its a New Year

Guess I missed out on all the New Year - B-day wishes... well that is the Casino industry this time of year. Not sure the holidays actually happened.

Anyway... hopefully things will slow down now - not in a bad economic way...just so we can get back to 2 days off.

Re: Hiya its a New Year

Hey all! I'm a Michigan Scummer and will be making my first trip to Vegas next weekend and was wondering if there were any good SW collectibles stores out there. I primarily collect Gentle Giant and Master Replicas/efx, but also Hasbro stuff. If someone could give me the scoop on that as well as preferred attractions, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Wedge, have a fun trip and a cool time here in Vegas. But unfortunately VEGAS SUCKS for collectibles...As far as I know most guys that I talk to order everything online...I wish I could say hey go to so-so store, but that not the case. Better for you, it gives you more money for strippers and poker tables...

Tusken Raiders,
Any good comics stores or collectibles stores where I might find some older stuff? I'm guessing your statement above was about TRU, Target, etc.

Also, favorite attractions or places to eat?

Thanks a ton for the advice!

Wedge,

Nah bro, I meant there is no collectibles store here, target/TRU are hit in miss here, the better TRU is in Henderson, NV and Target well that is like any other...As for comic stores, there is Alternate Reality, Silver Cactus & my fav. Maximum Comics (my boy Jay owns that one)...

Well Im not sure what they have in stock and if your renting a car Vegas is not very hard to find stuff...The streets here are one big grid.

Well Im glad to help...
