Description​

A Gentle Giant Ltd. release! Theyre legends on Tatooine, and now a Tusken Raider is the next Legend in 3D! This approximately 10-inch, half-scale bust depicts one of the sand people in his traditional garb, with a rifle slung on his back, atop a base fashioned after a gaderffii stick. Limited to only 1,000 pieces, each highly detailed bust is hand-painted and comes packaged in a full color box with a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity.

I have the first one and I like it, more so I think than this one.(Although I do like the pouches and belt sculpt more on this bust) His head looks a bit fat. Also his garb is too clean looking IMO

Not too impressed with the tilt of the head, but overall is not a bad sculpt and Tusken Raiders are always nice to have. That said, I'm passing on it because I already have the Attakus Tusken Raider 1/5 scale statue, the GG Bantha with Tusken Raiders diorama, two GG Tusken Raider Mini Bust, a Godzilla life-size Tusken Raider mask and a life-size Gaffi Stick by Tom Spina. I think, Tusken-wise, my army is complete ...

Quality control clearly isn’t a position they have hired for. Maybe they’re hiring due to all the “labor shortage” and just haven’t been able to fill the position…..

Good eye, Hank. Also, I'm not sure if that is the case and my eyes could be tricking me but, from the angle of this picture, it looks as if the sculpted fabric in front of the left hole should have had and indentention to allow for the rod of the canister to be slid in it. The way it looks now, it seems as if the canister would need to be pushed a little to right to allow for the left rod to be inserted, which will possibly not let the canister naturally rest over the pouches but rather be sticking up due to the sculpted fabric being in the way.

Received my one today from my LCS, opened it. Completely wonky eyes. The left eye stalk is tilted upwards and off to the left (Same as the photo posted earlier) I know the head is meant to tilted slightly to the right hand side but you can plainly see the eye stalks aren’t level. They look level on the promo pics and the box art.

Are they all sculpted like this??? Shame as the rest of bust is really nice.

I’ve only seen two photos of pieces inhand and both have the wonky eyes. Be interesting to see whether anyone gets a good one or if they are all coming out of the factory like this? I’ve emailed GG/DST direct to find out if this is a common problem or if it’s meant to be like this.

I need to post pictures of mine that I just got in from Deep Discount this week. It doesn't look nearly as bad as the pictures I have seen here, however the lenses are not perfectly aligned.

Sorry to read the eyes of your Tusken Raiders are looking in different directions. They weren't that way on film nor on TV, so this is obviously another quality control issue under DST ownership which makes GG look bad these days. I'm sure it would be blamed on COVID or they will just see nothing wrong with the eyes.

That one doesn’t look bad - honestly, how could GG mess this one up! I don’t even know how things like this get past QC unless GG/DST have non existent quality control. The eye stalks on mine are so noticeable that they still decided to paint it and ship it out.

My supplier has agreed for a return/refund so I’m sending it back - looks like I’ll be skipping this one. If this is a common problem, I can see a lot of these being rightfully returned. Poor QC again from GG/DST.

Fantastic! Glad you got a good one.

I’ve sent mine back for a refund as even the seller agreed that it wasn’t up to standard. Apart from the dodgy eye stalk, I actually loved the rest of it so managed to re-order it elsewhere so fingers crossed this one arrives ok.

Got another one today from another supplier as bar the dodgy left eye stalk, it was an impressive piece and i still wanted one for my collection. Left eye stalk is not completely straight but definitely an improvement over the previous one and not pointing off to the left so happy to keep this one.

Complained to DST about the previous one sending photos even though I didn’t buy it direct from them. They reviewed it and stated the eye pieces are attached separately in the factory so there is some differences but it shouldn’t look as bad as that. They were nice enough to give me 800 points for my troubles so thanks to them for that.

It does not look so bad although you can tell the eyes are not lined up properly. And as far as DST/GG excuse for the eyes to look wonky, about being separate pieces attached in the factory, so what? That is when QC should come into play, that's when supervising what's getting produced should be present and they should be telling these Chinese factories they are messing around with our product and getting things fixed. It sucks we are not only giving spying China who abuses it's workers, our product but they are also messing it up and DST is cool with it. Happy they give you 800 points but that doesn't fix the issue they are offering a product that's carelessly made.

You are completely correct. It doesn’t absolve them of any blame for poor quality control and I made that pretty clear in my email to them. I didn’t buy direct from GG/DST but I contacted them as wasn’t happy with the QC. 800 points or not, that doesn’t buy me off and I made it clear my original points still stand. I stated that I couldn’t believe that the bust was put together, painted and shipped out like that and either no one picked up on it or obviously didn’t care. I’ve had two of these now and both had issues with the left eye stalk, obviously one worse than the other so I can’t imagine how many more of the 1000 edition size has this issue.
