I dont know if this belongs here or in its own dedicated thread but I thought it would be fun to have a bunch of the forum members list their top 5 favorite BS6 figures that they own along with a brief description as to why. Here are mine:

Darth Vader 40th: Pretty much near perfect sculpt and likeness to how Vader appeared in ANH. Gives me hope moving forward as to how accurate Hasbro can be when they put their mind to it.

Prototype Fett: I have loved the Fett-man since I was a little kid and since I started collecting this line so late this was the Fett that I could afford. Would still prefer having the original Fett but I still love this figure.

Sabine: This is probably the craziest and most colorful figure I have and she is also a Mandalorian with a Fett style helmet and armor. The figure is so different from any of my other figures that it really stands out to me making it one of my favs.

Darth Revan: I just love the look of this figure. The two lightsabers and that ancient Mandalorian mask under a dark shroud give this character a very mysterious and menacing look. I never knew much about the character before getting the figure but when a figure looks so cool that it makes you go read and learn about the character it has to be good. I now plan to play through KOTOR soon just because of how cool Revan is.

Director Krennic: I really enjoyed the character in the film and I love the look of this figure. Hasbro nailed the head sculpt IMO and the white imperial officer's uniform looks fantastic. I know the non-softgoods cape inhibits posing but I think it looks fine on the figure and Krennic is not really the type of character that needs to be in crazy action poses anyway.

Honorable Mention: Old man Ben Kenobi. I like the look of the soft goods on this figure and IMO this may be Hasbro's best head sculpt of all time.

Ben Kenobi ANH - excellent face sculpt, great attention to detail on his outfit.

Greedo ANH - I'm only disappointed I waited so long to open him. Such a great sculpt. I know the eyes are a little too oval but it doesn't bother me in the least.

Jango Fett AOTC - this figure just looks so good and the face sculpt is fantastic so he looks awesome whether he has his helmet on or not.

Tusken Raider ANH - I normally hate soft goods but they work perfectly with this guy. Very posable with great accessories.

Jawa ANH - I never army build but I just had to have two of these guys. Really glad they didn't go with soft goods. They look great posed with R2, R5 and Threepio.

Honorable Mentions: Director Krennic and Leia Boushh (wearing the helmet).

My top Five:

1) 40th Anniversary Darth Vader - If you could only get one, this is the one. Darth Vader is iconic, and this is the best representation of him I've seen in this scale (IMO of course)

2) Sandtrooper - Personally I prefer the one with the Orange shoulder pauldron, but they are all good. It's a fun figure, with GREAT accessories. I want to throw the Stormtrooper on this list too, but it's too similar, and the Sandtrooper beats him due to the accessories.

3) Han Solo - It's Han Solo! Figuarts has stolen a lot of it's thunder, so he almost didn't make the list. But he deserves to be here because before Figuarts he was my favorite Black Series figure, just because of who he was.

4) Greedo - One of the best things about Star Wars is the aliens, and Greedo is the perfect representative. I do wish there were more background aliens in the line

5) Commander Cody - I just love that figure, and have had a lot of fun with him. I think he looks great. The clones were the best thing about the prequels, and the Clone Wars animated show endeared them to me.

Honorable mentions: I Love the bounty hunters and really wanted to add them, but there is something wrong with the execution of each, so they got bumped, for what I felt were more perfect figures. I also wanted to add Qui Gon and the Tuskan Riader, I think they are about perfect. It's hard for me to add TFA or R1 figures to the top of the list because I don't have the connection with those films that I do with the previous 6, but Ello Asty, K-2SO, and the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader deserve honorable mentions and stand on their own. Darth Revan is an awesome figure, but an unknown character for me. And I have a Knock-off Darth Maul, had I owned the real thing, he very well may have bumped Cody off the list.

Of the ones I own (in no real order):

Luke Skywalker ("Farmboy" version): I know the consensus is that generally he isn't very good, but I like him.
Scarif Stormtrooper: Is fast becoming probably my favorite Imperial trooper type besides the Navy Troopers.
Death Trooper: Just an all-around cool-looking figure.
Death Squad Commander: As mentioned above, Navy Troopers are one of my favorite trooper types, and I love finally having them in 6".
R5-D4: I just think he's adorable.

Interesting to hear all these other top 5's, keep them coming!!

TK1981 agree that Jango is awesome, barely missed my top 5, could have easily been in if I didn't like Krennic's character so much to be honest. Should have had him as an honerable mention. Lots of love for Greedo in here too. The figure looks great in pics (I dont own him though). May have to hunt one down if I can get him for a good price.

I really want a DT specialist, hope that 3 pack goes on clearance soon...

I really want a Tusken too but have yet to see either the red box or the 40th in store yet. May have to resort to an online pre order

I love the Krennic character as well. The only thing that keeps him off the top 5 is that the face is too plain. I've seen Oldboy's custom painted Krennic head and it shows what could have been.

Yeah Greedo is awesome. It's amazing that Star Wars is so well known for their aliens but there are only a handful in the Black Series: Greedo, Bossk, Tusken Raider, Jawa, Tauntaun, Wampa, Jabba, Salacious Crumb and Ello Asty. I don't think I missed any.

Is the salacious crumb an articulated figure or just an accessory molded in 1 piece? I dont have the exclusive jabba so I have never seen him in person.

That I'm not sure, I don't own him either. Most of the time I forget about listing him amongst the aliens until I think of the Jabba exclusive.

I guess technically I forgot to mention Yoda.

Yeah for a series with so many crazy looking alien creatures this line is certainly a bit light on them. I guess troopers sell better (army builders) and get you way more mold-milage (variations, ranks, repaints) which is why we see nearly every trooper variation

Greedo - The BS6 first figure I ever bought - ALWAYS a favorite, and I figured 'I'll just buy THIS ONE FIGURE'. (now own almost 100 - haha)

Darth Vader 40th - as others have noted - just absolutely perfect in every way.

Tusken Raider - Another favorite of mine as a kid - and they did a great job with this version

ESB Snowtrooper - ANOTHER favorite of mine as a kid - I know people have issues with coloring and dirty boots, but I still love this one.

Emperor Royal Guard - I was already a teenager when Kenner ROTJ figures were first released, so I never owned this one as a kid, but it has always been one of my more favorite character designs out of the Star Wars universe.

Honorable mention: Bossk! Both Boba Fetts. Pretty much ALL of the troopers, TFA and Rogue 1 included. Ahsoka and Revan are also really great cool looking figures, even though I never heard of them until the last year.

And we NEED more ALIENS/CREATURES, ASAP.

Replying to my own post..

I forgot about Jango Fett... He might very well replace Commander Cody.... I'll cheat and call it a tie. ;-)

Great list!

I bought the 40th Han on a whim at Wegmans and it has been a blur since... Although I am only buying figures I truly like (not trying to get them all) I am already up to 25 figures and that is just since after wave 1 of the 40th figures shipped :D

Yeah Jango is amazing. If they painted his eyebrows better I literally cannot think of one complaint that soneone could have with the figure. It is one of Hasbros finest

My Top 5 Black Series

1: 40th Vader (Best Vader figure ever!)
2: Imperial Royal Guard (Absolutely love this figure. From the perfect soft goods and glossy helmet to the Crimson Empire undersuit, this thing is just an absolute gem.)
3: Boba Fett (Just an excellent figure that showed just how good Hasbro can do with the line.)
4: Tusken Raider (Just an absolute beauty and definitely the best Tusken Raider we've ever gotten. And the soft goods on him are absolutely perfect.)
5: Ben Kenobi (An absolute spot-on likeness to Alec Guiness. I also love that they FINALLY included a robe with one of their Jedi figures.)

Seeing your top 5 makes me really excited for the Royal Guard that I just ordered from Gamestop! I really need to snag a Tusken when I get a chance too, looks awesome in all of the pics and youtube reviews I have seen.

Haha, just wait until you buy your first full case!

I was just browsing hasbrotoyshop.com taking a mental note of what is gone from the red boxed waves that started with the Force Awakens. Basically only a few figures aren't avaiable. So, new collectors could pretty much get a lot of figures, and at a discount since many are sold below the 19.99 price point.. From the Force Awakens - Chewbacca, Hux, Asty, Ahsoka, FN2187. From Rogue One - Scarif Squad Leader, Snowtrooper, Darth Revan, Sabine, Baze, and Chirrut... From the 40th - R2, and Han...

The interesting thing about the Force Awakens wave is that other than the Resistance Trooper, which is still available the figures that aren't avaiable anymore were only in one wave and never repacked. The repacked figures are all still available. The only one that doesn't fit that mold is Ashoka that was repacked as a wave 6 revision case. I assume the Wave 9 (snowtrooper, at-at wave) was no heavily released.. I never saw those at retail stores, and only online. I think some saw them at gamestops, but I never heard of those hitting Target or walmart.... Seems like the At-At driver will be the next casualty...
The Black Series 6" stock is getting thinner at Hasbrotoyshop. AT-AT Driver is gone, and so is all the 40th Anniversary Wave 2 figures. So, waves not lasting more than a half year past their initial release seems to be the new precedent, and maybe they learned from last year where they overproduced on the Force Awakens line. While you can still pretty much collect the entire lineup of the 2015-16 TFA lines except a few, the 2016-2017 lineup is getting thinner by the day. The first wave still has all 5 of the 6 new figures that were in the lineup available on the site. However, the second wave only has 2 of the 3 figures in that wave, and the third wave only has 2 of the 6 remaining (AT-AT Driver, Snowtrooper, Reven, and Sabine are gone, while Princess Leia and Kenobi remain). The fourth wave with Baze and Chirrut are also gone. And now we are at the Lando wave which is just hitting.

Regardless, these Rogue One figures are not going to be around like the Force Awakens figures were. While I still suspect we will see Jyn and Cassian hang around for a year or more on the site, I wouldn't be shocked to see more of them gone by the time Force Friday hits. I suspect Ben Kenobi will be the next casualty, and Unmasked Kylo will go away soon too.

I'd be hard pressed to determine my "top 5", but it would probably include some of those figures. The 40th Vader and Sandtrooper would definitely be included in my list. Those two figures are pretty much perfect IMO. Surprised not to see any love for K2S0, I really love that figure as well.

Yeah K2 is a great figure for sure. In reality as much as we all complain a lot about the BS6 line, there are quite a number of figures that are absolute gems considering the price point

In no particular order:

1. Darth Vader ANH: I just can't get over how amazing he looks.
2. Jango Fett: Beautiful sculpt, articulation, and accessories.
3. Qui-Gon Jinn: Great likeness, separate eyes are neat. Looks great next to the Jedi from Figuarts.
4. Luke X-Wing Pilot: Best likeness to Hammil of all the Lukes.
5. Sandtrooper (either version): Awesome sculpt, articulation, and paint, tons of accessories.

Runners up:
Boba Fett: Almost as good as the Mafex one. (I have the ROTJ version from Mafex, and the BS one fits in with it nicely.)
Rey & BB-8: Lots of accessories, great likeness (revised paint apps version.)
K-2SO: Awesome size, articulation is well done.
Rogue One Troopers (the 2 ones and the 2 pilots): They all share some of the same pieces, but are all distinctly beautiful)
Obi-Wan ANH: Great likeness, soft-goods robe that actually looks/works good.

I agree. I like it so much I regret ordering the Figuarts Qui-Gon. If I could cancel I probably would. Not that I don't think it's not going to be better than the Black Series, just that it's going to end up costing me around $90-95 after shipping, and I don't know that it's $75 better. I'm perfectly content with the Hasbro Qui-Gon.

Hasbro really upped their game with that figure, otherwise I wouldn't feel the way I do. Worst case scenario, I sell it at cost. Best case, I'm totally wrong and love it.

My "Top 5" in no particular order:

Proto Boba Fett (always loved the idea of "super stormtroopers)
Scout Trooper (these brought on so much nastaligia from seeing ROTJ as a kid)
Imperial Snowtrooper (under armor color aside, love the detail on them)
Emperor Palpatine (love the articulation on this guy. Best for a non-armored figure in line)
Darth Maul (my first figure of the line, and the one uncustomized character I look at most)

This looks like fun. Mine:

1. X-Wing Luke. He's just spot on. The detail in the sculpt is great, the plastic's good quality and the paint is fantastic - from the dirt smudges to the hair highlights, this was back when Hasbro put the effort in and it shows.
2. Boba Fett. I never had a Boba Fett figure when I was a kid, he was the only 'main' POTF2 figure I never found. He was only the second BS figure I bought, after I'd decided all I wanted was a Darth Vader on my desk. Yes, he's a shade too green, his cape's too long and he could do with a little more articulation, but I still get a little feeling of accomplished joy whenever I look at him because I finally got my Boba Fett and he looks so much better than anything I could have imagined when I was a kid.
3. Bossk. Sure, his eyes are wrong and his hands are too static, but he looks great on the shelf. Lots of good detail, and his design really makes him stand out.
4. Jango Fett. Easily one of the best likenesses in the Black Series. Great weathering and colour balance, well done accessories. Pose him with the helmet on and he's just about perfect.
5. Commander Cody. While I'm indifferent to Cody as a character, and this probably wouldn't have been one of my first choices I realised after a bit of a think that he's one of the few BS figures that is basically perfect. If you want an accurate representation of a character, well Cody fits that bill better than almost anyone. The only niggles I can think of are that some of his otherwise better than average articulation is frustratingly hindered by his armour sculpt and that he doesn't come with a removable helmet. The latter is particularly annoying given how good the Jango (and therefore Cody's) headsculpt turned out to be and given that the Han and Luke stormtrooper disguise figures came out at the same time with very acceptable removable trooper buckets. But if you only care about the helmeted look, Cody manages to nail just about every detail.

Honourable mention to Revan and Sabine. Revan would have nudged into this list if they hadn't gone with the ragged cape and armour colouration from TOR, if a decent two handed grip on a single saber was remotely possible and if all the leg joints on mine weren't ridiculously loose. Sabine's a really, really good figure but I think I'm always going to wish we could have got her much improved season 2 look instead.

Also, I know the helmet is often maligned around here, but I love the basic Stormtrooper. While I'm sure I can't truly compare the other offerings without seeing them in hand, from the pics there's always something off about the import figures that bothers me way more than anything with the BS.

The clone troopers are my least favorite of all the troopers and I only begrudgingly like the prequel trilogy, but Cody is a very cool and I was surprised after the fact at how glad I was to have him.

Here's my top 5 in no particular order as well. This is very hard to do and I might be forgetting some figs but right off the top of my mind here it is:

40th Anniversary Vader - As mentioned many times before this figure is awesome. The sculpt is very, very impressive. While I like the previous Vader as well this figure is a much better update. It's the definite Vader.

Jango Fett - this fig really got me hooked with the 6 inch figs. Great sculpt and articulation. Plus the removable helmet is a very nice feature and doesn't look too big when on his head. The head sculpt is great too. The only nitpicky problem I have with this fig is that his hoses on his right arm come out of his gauntlets sometimes. Other than that I love this figure and the amazing detail and work put into it.

Imperial Royal Guard - my favorite imperial so I'm a little biased but I really like this fig. The sculpt is very nice and the detail underneath the robe is a nice feature. They look awesome lined up near the Emperor!

Clone Shocktrooper Phase 2 - wasn't expecting this figure to be as good as it is but the quality on this figure is really great. I have the 4 pack on order from Amazon and I'm sure the other clones are just as nice.

Darth Revan - the sculpt and detail on this fig is another A+ from Hasbro. Just a cool looking figure of an interesting character.

Honorable mentions: Boba Fett, K-2SO, Director Krennic, Sand People, Death Squad Commander, Scarif troopers, AT-AT driver, Kylo Ren (first version), Lando, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Sabine Wren.

So you like the original (long cloak, smooth scarf) kylo better than the 2nd version with the short cloak and textured scarf? Or did you mean helmeted vs unmasked??

Well I meant the helmeted version over the unmasked version. I do have the first release Kylo and IMO it's still a great fig despite the smooth scarf and longer cloak. I didn't feel like paying another $20.00 for a slightly more accurate figure and I also have Starkiller base Kylo and the Celebration Europe exclusive version. I put that down because it was one of the first BS TFA figs I bought during FF 1.

Oh ok, I was just curious. I would like to pick up the sdcc version even though I already have the original smooth scarf version and the unmasked standard release, I think the overall sdcc package just looks great

X-Wing Luke, especially with the helmet on (hah!). Probably my favourite figure from this line, such a striking thing there on the shelf. Also probably the best Mark Hamill likeness out of all the six inch Lukes I own (and that's including the imports, though to be fair it's probably a toss up between this and the SHF ANH one).

Orange Pauldron Sandtrooper, still looks great, and great accessories. The sandtrooper paraphernalia helps hide some of the flaws of the sculpt, which is another reason I choose this over the stormtrooper.

Greedo, spectacular, simply spectacular. Love this one to bits, one of the three or four I actually kept.

Scout Trooper, a bit monkey-ish, but a great figure nonetheless. Looked better than the figuarts one, too.

Bossk, a really nice sculpt which would've been perfect with a bit of a wash.

List is a bit limited in scope, but zi stopped collecting the line after the bossk wave.

Jabba the Hutt - I'm a huge Jabba fan and with some customization and total repaint, this gangster is my favorite!

Boba Fett - Still beats out all others in that it looks like a man in a costume.

Jango Fett - Amazing figure with awesome paint job and details.

Leia Boushh - That helmet is one of the best sculpts!

Han Solo in Carbonite - I have a resin copy but man is this figure awesome. The details of the side control panels are mind blowing.
