This week we’re diving into The Clone Wars, but not the overall show. Before becoming one of the most beloved pieces of Star Wars media ever, The Clone Wars came to theaters with a theatrical feature film. We’ll be profiling this first entry in the era of Ashoka Tano and Captain Rex with our week of coverage. Make sure to check out our “Expand Your Mind” base article first, then come back for “Character Profile,” and “Force Facts” articles this week, in addition to Bobby’s awesome video content on our YouTube page!

When The Clone Wars hit theaters in 2008, it came the same year as The Force Unleashed. With its immersive storyline and its groundbreaking depiction of Force abilities, The Force Unleashed launched a new era in Star Wars gaming. In many ways the game’s success was compared to a film itself, but The Clone Wars still inspired a few gaming projects.

Check out our guide to the games of The Clone Wars era.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Jedi Alliance: Do you still have Nintendo nostalgia? This YA game launched exclusively for the platform with its ability to pair Jedi between players. New storylines featured Mace Windu training a generation of padawans.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes: The rare original game that is incorporated within the show’s storylines, Republic Heroes explores the attempts by Anakin and Ashoka to stop a Seperatist superweapon. The game also featured The Clone Wars favorites like Asajj Ventress, Cad Bane, and Luminara Unduli.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Lightsaber Duels: With the newly launched Wii platform, Lucasfilm saw the potential to create a battle game in the Star Wars universe including Anakin, Ashoka, Ventress, Obi-Wan, Grievous, Fisto, Dooku, and Luminara. The game also introduced the new villain EG-5, a Jedi hunter droid that weiled two red lightsabers. EG-5 surprisingly never appeared on the series.
  • Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures: After the success of Star Wars Galaxies and the impending release of The Old Republic, Lucasarts began another MMORPG for The Clone Wars universe. Clone Wars Adventures was short-lived, but allowed players to interact with characters and events from some of the show’s storylines. Playable species included humans, clones, Twi’leks, Trandoshans, Zabracks, Torgutans, and Pantorans.

What do you think, Rebelscum fans? Did you ever play any of these games? Do you with there was more The Clone Wars gaming content? Let us know below, and as always, may the Force be with you!

I enjoyed the Clone Wars movie... it took a while to adjust to the animation. Wasn't it just the first 4 or so episodes mashed together to make a movie? I sorta always thought it was something that Lucas did almost spur-of-the-moment. :)
