The X Wing novels. I have a question about some of the characters in the X Wing books

In the mail today I got Solo Command and i was checking out the list of the characters in the beginning of the book pages.

Didn't Hobbie and Wes Janson die in Empire Strikes Back? Couldve sworn they did and somehow theyre alive and well in the Solo Command book

Janson was Wedge's rear gunner, so he for sure didn't die. Hobbie was the pilot of another speeder and it was never stated one way or the other if he died. From what I recall the only named guy that was confirmed dead was Dak, Luke's rear gunner.

 

[Rushie]

I'm pretty sure Zev Senesca (Rogue 2) was killed by Veers' AT-AT in the Battle of Hoth. Hobbie Klivian survives and appears in post-ESB EU stories from before 2012.
He got a figure in a comic pack with Baron Fel.
