Okay, so unless we learn otherwise, this is the name of the basic figure line, starting in 2010.

I don't want to start up a new section of the forums until Toy Fair, but for now just continue posting here.

Oooh, new section. Ladeedaa.

Anyway, yes. Previous Veers had better facesculpt, and looks great as an officer:
.

Well, when customized he looks great, anyway.

The new one doesn't look like he's going to look great either way.

I really don't see how a lack of ankle joints "renders a figure a waste". That's just a silly mentality to have about these figures. I mean seriously. What great benefit can you get from ankle joints? What sort of radical and movie inaccurate things can you achieve with an ankle joint? Chances are they'll have em but even if they don't the hasbro ankle joints are too tight and dont serve a purpose anyways.

I should have been more clear. Lack of ankles alone doesn't render a figure a waste - Lumiya and Rum Sleg had no ankles and were still awesome figures. However, I think that the lack of ankles of this Bespin Luke does make it a waste - especially for the premiere wave of the long anticipated Vintage line - because this version is merely a slight correction to the passable VTAC version, fixing the face, gun and saber on belt while adding hips. However, IMO he's a waste because they fixed those issues but created a new one - sure ankles are not 100% necessary on a backgrounder type, but on one of Luke's most action oriented, dynamic outfits, they are an important feature. Thus, I see this Luke as a real letdown because Hasbro fixed all the other issues while making a new one for no reason - they had BJ ankles on the VTAC one!

Of course, if in the small chance this does turn out to be a prototype, I have no issues with the figure and it's all good.

Just be patient...all will be revealed...

Yes, they're only protos, but if Dengar and "Veers" have them at this stage, it's a little concerning - especially since the sculpts are created with articulation in mind and they're clearly indicated on the study sheet assigned to the sculptor. It drives me crazy to see obscure secondary figures have points of articulation that are omitted from main characters.

Hell, even characters like Bane Malar, Yarna, Bale Organa, Pons Limbic, Hrchek Kal Fas and Leesub Sirln have ankle articulation. Leesub ****ing Sirln!

Exactly. Veers needs them way, way less than Luke - all Veers does is stand. it can't cost any more to give ankles to Luke than Veers, right?

I think VTC wouldve been better. "Vintage Tribute Collection" doesnt have a "the" in it and thus everyone won't make horrid sentences that misuse the term. Acronyms are not a free pass to just throw a "the" into some random place in a sentence!

Agreed! Plus it's an accurate description of the new line, & it has a great catchy ring to it.

I hope we get a good mic of new figures and remakes. As there are some I forsee getting redone Im content with the version I display now. Hopefully it will be 50/50. But The leia hoth and Luke Bespin are major wins for me as they look great and I refused to buy their past crappy versions made.

Any idea if this line will be on vintage cards in the clam shell like the other Vintage Collection figures that came out before?

Not if the reported Target pricing hold true:

087-06-1351 - 3.75 VINTAGE - $7.99

Could be wrong but I didn't take the AT-AT commander to be Veers. I just figured he's an unnamed AT-AT commander.

I thought the consensus in the previous section was to go with The Vintage Collection, using the acronyms of TVC or just VC.

I also like VTC. Maybe we put it to a vote? There's still time before USTF to decide....

As already noted by the previous poster, this is coming out as the basic figure line, but further more, Hasbro has stated categorically, following the 2007 VTAC, that Vintage in that form is not coming back. So no, these are indeed going to be the basic figures for 2010 and early 2011 (and HOPEFULLY beyond).

Yeah c'mon!! Whether on not the "T" means "the", TVC implies the TRUE vintage collection from Kenner (1978-1885) It's 30+ years later so these are not real vintage figures, but this new line look is more of a "tribute" to the 30+ year old action figure line. So as collectors, and fans, lets call it by what it is a TRIBUTE collection, hence VTC. I never before been bothered my a line name or anacronym, but hearing and seeing this one called "the vintage collection", even on a temporary basis, is like getting kicked in the nads, painful. Also, it is rather disrespectful to the original line that started it all. And I am suprised ture long-time collectors and fans (meaning thoses that has been collecting and supporting SW for 30+ years) would want to call it TVC.

oh yeah, just because hasbro may simply call it vintage collection, us fans should be the ones to have a say in how or what we are calling the line amongst ourselves here in the forums. Besides, if not for us, hasbro wouldn't be going for this look assuming they would still be making any SW

Everytime I see look in this thread, I keep thinking, "seeing how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn’t we keep the PC on the QT?
‘Cause if it leaks to the VC, he could wind up MIA. Then we’d all be on KP."

In all seriousness, though. I vote for Vintage Tribute Collection. Seems a bit more accurate to me.

This is going to make finding actual vintage items on eBay even more of a [censored].

I vote TVC, by the way. VTC is too close to VTSC or VOTC.

same here using "vintage" at all, but at least VTC somewhat moves "vintage" from the center of the name and lettering, therefore "tribute" is more of a focus of what the line is about.

Re: The Vintage Collection (2010 Basic Line)

I'd rather hold a vote until we get the official name from Hasbro. After all, we mainly call the current collection Legacy while Hasbro still refers to it as the Droid Factory line.

Besides, I'm still waiting for word on this "Bounty Hunter Collection" name that appeared on the marketing calendar slide we saw. If that's the sub title like Droid Factory was this year, maybe that's a better name for this new line?

The official name from Hasbro is "Vintage".

Which to me makes no sense...we already HAD a Vintage line.

But you are right....let's wait until Toy Fair. I can always edit the thread title.

As an avid vintage collector as well I take the exact opposite point of view to you! It isn't a "tribute" unless Hasbro says it is it and names it as such. The inclusion of any PT, EU or OT figures which weren't on genuine vintage cards kills this name stone dead IMO.

As collectors we all will know and understand what TVC means, and that "vintage" is "vintage" and nothing else. There is no confusion.

Similarly to other posters this is the first time I have evr really cared what a regular line was abbreviated to, including all the other modern vintage subsets.

And yet I do NOT care about ball-jointed ankles!
tongue.gif
They look stupid on that other luke that everybody else seems to prefer IMO. But you all should of course bear in mind that I absolutely love my POTF2 one and shall still not be replacing him, cos I'm weird like that.

I like this the best, because, like other have said, EU and Prequel figures being added in makes this anything but a "vintage" collection. The cardbacks, however, are vintage-inspired, so this makes sense. VCC.

WHO CARES what the line's online acronym is?! Sheesh.

These figures look great. Luke is an interesting departure with what looks like GIJoe hip joints. Ankles would be nice but I'll worry about that later.

I wish they'd have shown the cardbacks, if they are 100% old-school Kenner, I'll be collecting these things MOC figures for the first time ever. Looks like I'm back collecting SW!!!
