The Legacy Collection General Discussion Thread

Yeah, we'll probably never ever see Battle packs the way they used to back in the day. Hasbro seems to feel multipacks are only viable either via Pulse 4-pks or the carded four packs so I don't see them ever returning to "scene builder" type sets. Which without being at retail I understand not needing a window box style packaging or for them to be displayed like the Jedi Council sets. But if you ask me both current versions don't support the addition of larger accessories like tables for example, so they still have a hurdle to overcome if they ever plan to release Cantina type environments. While the DLX box would work for a 3-pk of just figures it's not thick enough to put in a Cantina table or several other things like Max Rebo's Organ.

While not a Legacy item, I'd love for them to reissue the Senate Pod! I was only ever able to locate one, and have always want to get a few more but just never found the right deal due to several factors. I would think that TPM25 would be an ideal opportunity to release two Pods with a couple figures and it would fir perfectly in the Endor Speederbike box!

Obviously we won't be getting this for $20 again, but two pods with Yoda & Sidious could probably retail for $40-50. Then as a companion piece a Shocktrooper 4-pk. Now that's more of a ROTS homage, but I think it would sell better at retail than if it was built around EP1 Senators or other background characters. And we know that they wouldn't tool an all-new figure for this set so choices like Panaka, Queen Amidala, Senator Palpatine, Chancellor Valorum are out.

There's also Andor era stuff that could be done with it, if Hasbro wanted a current media tie-in.

Agree the duel would be better than a senate session. OG RotS duel Palpatine could use a rerelease with photoreal.

Although I would love a brand new senate session Queen Amidala, that's my favorite look of her hands down and the TPM figure is lacking.

How many pods are there in the rotunda in total btw?

After posting I also thought of newly crowned Emperor in red for Palpatine would make a good choice but that would require some new tooling that would most likely have to have a solo release first in order to happen.

As for that Palpatine I'm not even sure photoreal would make a difference, but it can't hurt right? Now that they updated ROTJ Emperor w.throne I do feel it's time for a ROTS Emperor reissue, and it would be neat to include with said Senate set especially if an Exclusive becasue tehn it doesn't take up a slot.

Hard to say for sure, but probably in the thousands considering how many Planetary Governments exist. If we're talking just the "notable" ones I'd say you could probably populate 20 of them, which would also require the center spire where Palpatine's pod is to be made. If someone actually wanted to recreate a scene for that. In reality though you could probably extend that to about 100 if you wanted to also include the distant pods that were inhabited by backgrounders.

Or maybe a forced perspective background wall with tiny pods sculpted into it

It was a golden age of Star Wars collecting. 2 figures for $20 with VC Articulation and a comic book as well. Sadly we'll never see those days again
Yeah. Honestly if there's anything i miss the most from the legacy collection era its got to be the designs of the card backs. Each one was beautifully designed in my opinion, I love the vintage collection but the card back designs can be a hit or miss

Sorry if this is off-topic but it recently occurred to me. I am relatively new to collecting and I've been to several comic/toy/collectible stores all over the place and have noticed the same thing. Why are more recent lines such as TLC less common/more expensive on the secondary market than say POTF? Was it just that there were less overall figures being made by this point?

Good question! I think it’s because they’re just more desirable figures. They have better sculpts and articulation and detail. They look more realistic, and they have better features (removable hats and helmets, working holsters, softgoods, etc.). And yes, it does seem like they were produced in lesser numbers.

Most of POTF2 and TPM were produced in huge numbers followed by the other assortments for the rest of the PT, and that was because kids were actually into toys at that time, so the volume of figures they were able to move was substantial. Lines like Legacy (and TAC) were still aimed at a variety of consumers, but that's when we saw a major shift to please adult collectors, so the character choices were clearly geared toward a collectible market as well. They definitely weren't produced in the same numbers as POTF2 and TPM! I think the higher prices were caused by an increase in demand, but a lower supply, as many of the collectors that bought them originally, likely kept them, so fewer may have been floating around on the secondary market. The pandemic only helped increase prices, when the hobby got more attention from people staying home with extra disposable income. I don't think the market really adjusted much after that, as the supply remains limited in many cases, and some prices are ridiculous, considering their MSRP.

Add to that many characters only got their one figure in those lines and many more important movie chars got definitive versions, or at least very good ones. A TAC era Jedi or trooper still holds up and if you're into the EU, the 2007-2012 era was golden

 Sorry to hear you'll be parting ways with probably some of the best stuff ever made.
😭 Me, at the mere fact I've got nothing to trade. lol

For me, it's all about the era the EU is pulled from now, and my interest in the specific character - so some stuff I'm absolutely holding onto! K'kruhk for example, love that figure, and would never trade it. But I can no longer 'collect them all' anymore, so if I don't feel an attachment, I don't mind sending them along, lol.

I definitely get the "can't collect them all" thing, I never really did that to begin with, I simply bought what appealed to me and what I needed for certain displays. I mean I can't say that I don't have several figures in storage totes, but it's less than what it used to be.

Being a big fan of the bizarre/different looking, Aliens I tend to get them regardless of era or medium as I can always utilize them in nay background. I'm not sure I could ever part with any of the EU figure's I've bought unless it was a double. Which is one reason why I've opted to bypass most of new media characters in order to sufficiently make space need for the more important things. Not that I don't collect any new media, but it's few and far between with mostly Mando themed stuff. I've purged ST, Rogue One and Solo items all except for the aliens of curse.

With the Cantina coming it will take up a significant amount of room which means a removal of something, then add the Mos Eisley wall and outer area requires even more space. Not to mention the Ghost... I'm honestly not sure I can handle another BIG item. lol

Trying to get some clarity on something. I have two Hoth Trooper BD-42. One has the U-3PO part (I know there are paint variations in these) but I have a second that has an HK-47 arm? I don't see it listed as a variant on RS. Did some figures from certain waves get packed with other waves BD parts?

Edit: I see them now listed under the build a droid's link. I was thinking it would have been listed on the specific figures page.

Definitely yes. I’ve seen the same figures with different parts for years. But at this point it may be impossible to catalogue it. 😬

I never realized it until now. I assumed each wave had a specific set of BD parts. As I'm looking back through my carded figures I'm realizing I have more than just that one that varies on a different wave part. I may not have the completed parts to some like I thought I did. Well back to cataloguing I guess.

I think the other BAD parts were when repacks got carried forward. Which got annoying when webshops didn't list or picture which version was included

Still my favorite type of pack-in though. Along with themed baseplates like RotS had. Wouldn't mind seeing either return in TVC

After going through everything I’m only missing four BD pieces so not too bad. Going to do a little eBay hunting now I guess

After thinking it over I decided to make a list of the possible straight reissues from Legacy that feel could still warrant it, based on their choices from TVC 1.0 that is. I left out anything that was, I felt needed retooled or simply no demand. BTW Yana sneaked in due to now having Jabba's palace to put her in. Also, a couple Jedi made it in but only for visual reference as I think they could be redon with the new Jedi body.

If only all the molds weren’t at the bottom of the ocean or being held captive in a locked-down warehouse. Oh well! 😜
