I'm not grasping what is racial about "oriental"? It's merely a term to identify a region someone is from.

As someone with an asian wife, I can tell you, being called Oriental is considered quite offensive.

I don’t know too much about the history of why it’s considered offensive. I’ve seen it tied to racism towards Asians during the Vietnam war as a way to refer to anyone Asian looking as someone who’s not trustworthy or who is different. I would guess connotations like that as well as the fact that it lumps all people from Southeast Asia together make it offensive.

It’s probably not on the level of the N word in terms of its recognition or the backlash you’ll generally receive for using it but many people will probably think less of you if you use it to describe a person. I think it’s still okay to use it in reference to things like rugs though.

Asian is what you would want to say in its place if you don’t actually know whether someone is Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.

Well I personally don't use it, but I have seen it used in many places. Even have a local cafe called the Orient.
I've just never seen it used as a racial slur.

It's only considered a slur if you call someone Oriental. The word orient, on its own, isn't the issue.

I'll be picking this up, nice to see it with the red deco. I was actually going to grab one for cheap at TRU and customize it into a red one. Now with them releasing this one it saves me the trouble lol.

My area Wally Worlds have last Jedi stuff at 75% off. Scored a $7 A wing and $13 Silencer. Hux and Rose were $1.75. Am I right in thinking that is cheaper than the original 1978 figures?

I saw over a dozen Force Link starter sets with Kylo for $5, I hope for Episode 9, they ditch that gimmick - they were overproduced without sufficient interest.

I find it hilarious that the same discounted Kylo is now shipping in Solo's wave 2--with Force Link 2.0 compatibility! Meaning not only is the $5 Force Link defunct, but the figure it comes with is too.

I see a few pegs of the $5 Force Links all the time too--I am stalking the "clearance aisle" they reside in for the day the dozen or so Luke and Rey Black Series Speeders finally drop below $45. It has to happen someday...

Agreed 100% on hoping they drop this gimmick in the next year.

Yeah, Kylo was a repack that really wasn't warranted, though he seems to be a pretty popular character. I'm guessing it costs them next to nothing to repack a figure like that - made of solid black plastic, with very little deco. A repack like Snoke makes sense, since it was limited to a pricey playset, but they should have used the Kylo slot for another TLJ character. They could have even done a slight retool to an existing figure to save money.

Hi! I'm new here. I've started my small collection of 3.75 inch line last year (I was collecting Star Wars stuff when I was a kid, around Phantom Menace and now my love for those toys re-lit after Toys That Made Us).

I looked around and I have to say there is a huge jump in quality of this line with TLJ figs. THey look really awesome now.

Welcome to the forum! I agree with you on quality regarding TPM. I felt the quality jump went up, and got me back in around 2005-2006 with the OTC, VOTC and ROS figures.

That's why I feel c'ai and flametrooper could've been inserted into wv2 instead of sure and chewie repacks rather than made ee excls. And still wouldn't really need repackaging. Then again, the upcoming wm a-wing should've been the basic asst instead of the blue a wing repacked

I was pointing out the fact that the "exclusive" figure that was the only reason some collectors might pick up the outdated Force Link hardware has been released on its own in a form that can no longer interact with said outdated hardware.

Speaking of Cai Threnali and Flametrooper - why is it taking online stores so long to get them?! Weren't they available in Canadian and other stores around the world a long time ago?!

EE just got them in stock today, so orders are finally processing.

Not that I liked the movie or even want anymore but were there any known, unreleased TLJ figures that were pulled?

Canada; less Hothy than people think!
I was really surprised to discover the Finn (FO disguise)/Phasma 2 pack at Winners today for $7.99. There was only one and I nearly missed him.
Then I discovered that the first wave of the single figures was at Dollarama (although I was half hoping for the final R1 wave).

Cai and the Flametrooper, along with the Phasma/Finn TLJ pack, were the closest to being pulled, but they were saved by EE. The Emperor was in TLJ line internationally but never released in the U.S.

Technically, no TLJ figures were announced but never released.

That's what I was thinking, and even the Canto Pilot. But I just couldn't pull the trigger, as I'm just about on my way out anyways. Just really only hanging on for Yakface!

Fivebelow.com has the Resistance A-wing and the Canto Bight Speeder for $5 each if anyone cares.
Hmmm. I hated, hated the casino segment of that movie, but I do kind of dig the canto bight officer figure that comes with the speeded so for $5 that’s kind of tempting...

Too little too late. If you has really cared, you'd have bought up everything at full price! :p

Went to my local Five Below last night and they were just putting out a couple of cases. I almost walked out of there empty handed and noticed a couple of Hasbro boxes sitting with a bunch of other boxes on a large cart. I asked the guy and he opened it up and let me pick out what I wanted. Picked up an A-wing and a speeder. I already had 1 of each and wanted to pick up a 2nd of each. Plus I have a red A-wing on pre-order. That's enough for me.

My local Ross (north GA) had a Tie Silencer for $9. Didn't see much else for TLJ toyline other than a Force Link 1.0 device.

The Five Below near me has a ton of A-wings and Speeders. 4 boxes across and about 4 boxes deep on the shelf. Great for people who need custom fodder.

Saw these reports and went to the only 5 Below within reach (about 20 miles away) and nothing. I almost bought the Spider Legs Maul figure that comes apart like a build-a-droid. Can't remember the name of the line, but before I bought it I remembered that I hated seeing these instead of action figures so I left it there.

lol I bough that in hopes to make something, but due to the size I didn't work out like I planned. So now it's goodwill or yard sale fodder.

Not to derail the thread, but I used to go to Goodwill and would see something interesting every other time, but they must've gotten some employees working on e-bay now because stuff I see at Goodwill is the stuff that my garbage would throw away.

At some of the places I go to they put any good Star Wars stuff behind a counter where they have jewelry and watches and anything else that is nicer than the usual junk.
