As I wrote a few days back I finally found a way to make colored casts :) :) :)

I did not have the time to cast all of my heads & Helmets, yet, but I did all of
the ones I needed to update my own already finished customs ...

So now these heads finally look like I wanted them to look - like real Action Figure
heads as if you just ripped a reagular mass production figure off the card :) ...

I kept the paintjobs to the absolute *factory minimum* here and even left out the
black pupil dots in the eyes (also 'cause I screw 'em up on 50% of all eyes anyhow)
So now I think those sculpts really show through and look the way I wanted them
to look ... hope you enjoy the pics :)...

Captain / Admiral Piett
Painted: hat, hair, eyes, eyebrows
finally that lazy-eyed look really comes across - he's currently one of my favourites

Admiral Motti
Painted: hair, eyes, eyebrows

Commander Praji
Painted: hat, hair, eyes, eyebrows

Grand Moff Tarkin
Painted: hair (in 2 tones of grey), eyes, eyebrows
finally I got to update my Tarkin - really love him now - can't wait
to get my hands on the new Hasbro body that will be out soon.

General Veers
Painted: hat, hair, eyes. eyebrows
I think I'm going to repaint his eyebrows a tad lighter ...

Darth Caedus
Painted: hair, eyes, eyebrows
Man those Sith eyes are a real p.i.t.a. to paint ...

Jedi Master Dooku
Painted: hair (black with grey streaks), eyes, eyebrows
I'm thinking about adding a light beardshade ... not sure about it.

ESB Yoda
Painted: hair, eyes
Man this sculpt really looks nice finally cast in the correct tone of green

Same head just a slightly different angle that I really liked

Indiana Jones
Paint: dark ribbon band on hat (hat is cast in brown), hair, eyes, eyebrows, beardshade
looks great in person, but after seeing the big pic I think I'll try to repaint his left eye
once more to get it a bit more *clean* looking ... not easy on that size ....

Arleil Schous
Painted: ears, snout, eyes, teeth and a black wash all over it
I think it turned out a tad too dark ... maybe I should have used
a dark grey for the wash instead of black ...

Bespin Guard with Moustache
Painted: hat with black lines, hair, eyes, eyebrows, moustache
The only head I added the pupil dots to ... after that I just gave up
as you almost don't even notice when they aren't there on the real
size of those heads ...

Bespin Guard with Moustache (black variant)
Painted: hat with black lines, hair, eyes, eyebrows, moustache
when I cast Indy's hat I had some brown colored resin left over
that I did not want to just throw away, so I quickly poured it
into the Bespin guard mould and out came a nice variant ...
I shaved the beard and the sideburns off a bit to give it an even
more different look.

Dr. Evazan
Painted: hair (in 2 tones of grey), eyes, eyebrows, teeth, beardshade, scars of face
I'm really happy with this one now - painted him exactly like Hasbro painted their Dr.
I just had to add a dark-fleshtone wash over the scars on his face (it's really JUST a
rather sloppy wash over the scarred areas - the details in the sculpt did the rest)

Ponda Baba
Painted: beard, eyes, teeth
He doesn't look much different than the fully painted head, but now
I can touch his head to turn and pose it without having to fear that
I might rub the paint off some spots again

Mrs. Baba ^^
... she came to the cantina to drag out her ever drunk husband
as he was already late for an important event ...

Grandpa Baba came a long the way to celebrate the ever so popular
Life Day with his family ... I heard they stacked up a ton of booze
extra for the special guest they've invited ... some Princess from
Alderaan famous for her great Life Day singing performances ...

Hope you all enjoyed :)

Cheers & take care,

Evergrey

Just beautiful. They are absolutely amazing. It's a shame that the hasbro released figures don't look like these. Really nice stuff.
Off to pull a bank heist so I can buy them!

Tarkin looks just amazing! Great work!
Wish Hasbro's version of him was that good...

Awesome work, the skin coloured plastic really does let the detail shine. Piett and Veers are my favourites.

These are works of art that belong in the Customizing Museum conveniently located next to the Customizing Mount Rushmore where you head is engraved into the side of a mountain. Beautiful work man.

Oh man, I love the officers and Indy. The Hasbro-style paint jobs make them look so authentic, but better than we could ever hope to see.

Evergrey,

These are just superb. The wolfman and Tarkin are my favorites. The wolfman because he has not been made yet--and maybe won't with the revisions by Lucas. Tarkin is great because we have seen two versions by Hasbro and yours is vastly superior.

Sadly haven't had much time to work much on some of the new stuff as
my life just feels like it's raining loads of crap all the time ...
Had started work on a Temuera Morrison likeness a while ago ... I'll post
some new pics once the sky starts to clear up for me a bit again ...

Amazing work, though they are so detailed I think you're "over"-painting them. You sculpted the wrinkles in the face (like on Tarkin) so well you really don't need to accentuate them by painting them a different color.

The sculpts are awesome. So many good things to say about them.

If I had one quibble, it's that there are too many "lines" in the hair. Han's hair especially, I can't get over how it reminds me of a washboard. I can't imagine how else to suggest texture through sculpting. Maybe it's better to just to use paint to somehow create a textured effect.

Also, what do those mouth glands on Ponda Baba remind me of?

Evergrey,

Don't let the criticism get you down. It seems like people love art but hate to pay for it.

Love the head sculpts. Way out of my price range and I wouldn't know what to do with them if I did get them. But the craftsmanship is top notch. I'm sure collectors would be thrilled to see some of those released by Hasbro. Commander Praji comes to mind, so we can finally have him behind TVC Vader while he wags his finger at VOTC Leia.

Anyway, I'd be interested if you'd document your progress in making a head sculpt from the raw materials used to a finished product. Is it all fine hand work or any computer craving based off a 3D digital rendering? What are the tools of the trade? Sort of a visual diary of a custom Star Wars head sculpt being formed. I have no sculpting or painting talent but am facinated by the process.

Agreed, I think they are beyond masterful and worth every penny that is being charged. I hope there is some well to do guy out there that buys these head sculpts and has them put into production for us customizers. I would buy up all of them in a heart beat if it was feasible for me.

Wow. These look amazing. Excellent casts and paint apps.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment :)

Thanks a lot - and yes, you're right - the fully painted heads look kind of *overdone*
on the close up pics ... they look very nice in hand, but blown up to that size the
paint seems much too much. That's why I tried to make colored casts (see on page 5)
and these look MUCH better I think.

With all this love Evergrey, when you going to start casting for selling these beauties
Sadly ... never ... but the *huge lot* is still up for offer, and I'm thinking about dropping
the price a bit more ... I will post it then ...

The lines in the hair are a thing I'm used to do, kind of like one of my *style-elements*
... I just can't get over it leaving that off, as I always think it's not enough *movement*
in the hair ... I'm trying to tone it down though ^^ ... but you're right - it's pretty much
on the ANH Han head (and also on Darth Caedus).
Mainly comes from the figures I sculpt for my company, as so much detail gets lost from
sculpt to final PVC Figure you have to *overdo* certain things so they're still visible in
the final product ... sometimes it's *too much* ... but still better than *not enough* ^^

Oh, criticism is fine, as long as it's constructive and not just rude or unreasonable.
I'm used to a lot of criticism from my job *lol* ... you always have to make a room
full of people happy, and everybody usually wants somethings else than the next guy.

I'll try to take some pics next time I start a new sculpt :) - and yes - it's all sculpted
by hand - no PC 3D stuff involved - just a bit of sculpey, a couple tools and my hands.

THUD

That was the sound of my jaw hitting the floor.
Send these to Hasbro! It'll help them save money!
I did ... at least 8 of them ... they sent them back with a nice letter that they can't
accept uncommissioned work, not even as a gift. Well ... that new Emperors Wrath
Vader Helmet still looks really familiar to me ^^ ... hoping for more of those familiar
looking heads and helmets on future Hasbro figures ... :sneaky:

Agreed, I think they are beyond masterful and worth every penny that is being charged. I hope there is some well to do guy out there that buys these head sculpts and has them put into production for us customizers. I would buy up all of them in a heart beat if it was feasible for me.
Thanks a lot Michael :) ... well, as I said - I'm really thinking about dropping the price
a bit more (of course it still needs to be a benefit for both sides though) ...

Evergrey, which sculpts did you send to Hasbro, besides the Vader? It's cool they used your Vader, but I really want to see your stormtrooper and Yoda pop up somewhere in the line!
Hasbro did get the Vader Helmet, the Stormtrooper Helmet, the Boba Fett helmet,
the ESB Yoda head, The ANH Han Solo head, The Tarkin head, the TPM Qui-Gon
head and the ROTJ Emperor Palpatine head.

Sorry for not writing so much these days, but I'm stuffed with work once more,
and there is unfortunately a lot of very unpleasing private stuff that's going on
in the moment ... on top of that my car just broke down yesterday without a
warning - just didn't run anymore ... well, as I said ... lots of other stuff I have
to take care of first atm ...

Cheers and talk to all of you again soon,

Evergrey :)

I just looked and noticed that my older threads about some of these
heads and helmets are gone, so I thought it was a good idea to post
a couple of the pics from those threads here so they don't get lost.
Nothing new, but I hope you all enjoy them (once more) ...

my TVC Darth Maul repaint (with slightly modified horns)

my TVC C-3PO repaint (with slightly changed eyes)

My ANH Han Solo custom using the TVC Bespin Han head

My sculpted ANH Vader helmet in the middle in a comparison pic

... damn it ... it appears to take forever to upload just a few pics :( :( :( ...
... looks like something doesn't work right here ... I'll try to get up some more
pics in a new post ... sigh ...

:) ... thanks a lot for the kind words, guys ... :)

Here are a couple more pics I found - these are just some of my
*regular*, mostly mild customs. For those I didn't sculpt any new
heads or helmets, but I thought I'd post them anyhow ...

TPM Obi Wan using the really great light-up Obi Wans head ...

Bespin Luke with the better head from the Dagobah Landing figure

the Count

AOTC Anakin

... and here are some more of the partially sculpted customs again ...

... charming to the last ...

Wow, I love that Count Dooku headsculpt! Nice work.
I did not sculpt that Dooku head (the old one). That's just the ROTS Dooku
Head put on the Evolution pack figures body (I cut the neck off that head
and dremeled a hole in the head so it would fit on the ball joint) ^^

^^ - no problem. I think it's actually one of the best likenesses Hasbro had
so far, so I saw no reason to sculpt a new one, as to me that head actually
really looks like Chris Lee.

Currently I'm working on a Clone Trooper Phase 2 Helmet and a Temuera
Morrison head sculpt ... hope I will be able to show some new stuff soon :)

Holy shmoley...that's incredible. I salute you!

I can't even look at my licensed figures without a twinge of disdain for them now. They are rubbish.

Hi guys :) - thanks again for all the nice comments :)

Just wanted to post a short update - I finished the Jango Fett

the time to make the mold and a first cast sometime later this
