Re: 2-1B in 2008!

I complete glossed over this thinking R2-B1 got moved to wave 1 2008 since he wasn't mentioned in the 2007 wave 7.5 details.

But 2-1B is the best news yet.

Re: 2-1B in 2008!

I'm presuming that this is the ROTS 2-1B based on what it's being released with - in either case it's welcome, and another figure checked off the list!

VERY COOL!

Either one would be nice. I'm sure they'll repaint it to make the other one regardless.

Slick!! Now if they make FX-6 too...

(...altho if they ever do it'll probably be in a BP with the ROTS deluxe "in process" Vader on the table, 2-1B, the ROTS medical droid, Palpy

Given the release of this figure they pretty much HAVE to do FX-6 now!

This should also steer us toward an updated ESB 2-1B with only minor retooling!

Re: ROTS 2-1B in 2008!

I like the look of this guy, but he looks like the ESB version, very bluish (though the picture of course is faded). Of course, we're just a repaint away from either a solid ESB upgrade or a proper ROTS droid either way. A repaint of FX-7 would also be welcome. Are there any noticable differences between these droids and the OT versions that make them need more than just different paint apps?

Re: ROTS 2-1B in 2008!

The feet seem to be different between movies. But then, we never really saw the ESB model's feet, and I assume Kenner/Hasbro had to improvise.

The only major difference, though, is the left hand. ESB model has a hand, ROTS model has this syringe block (which is what I'm seeing on the figure).

I don't think the ESB 2-1B actually had any feet for filming.
He migh have been simply mounted on a stand and only filmed from the waist up??

Amazing! Looks absolutely stunning. I'm glad they are using the clear plastic again like for the POTF2 2-1B.

Well, there are shots of ESB 2-1B down to the knees (such as this). You're probably right about the puppet not having any real feet.

Re: ROTS 2-1B in 2008!

The original 2-1B just had pieces of wood below the knees.

This guy looks great. I love me some new(ish) droids.

He's a droid and I don't really want him but I'm glad he's finally being made!

Great. two droïds around the table, one to go. The FX shouldn't be far behind, even in the same wave maybe.

Nice! Yeah, they need to make the other droid in that scene. FX-6 or whatever it is.

Re: ROTS 2-1B in 2008!

More good news! This one had been rumoured a while back, but I was worried it might prove too good to be true. Glad I was wrong.

Now I just hope that the previously mentioned WED 15 "Septoid 2" comes to pass as well. The droids lately have been truly top notch.

In a Hasbro Q&A they said that only one of the two (2-1B or FX) would be made next year, so we probably won't see one until '09 at the earliest.

Re: 2008: 2-1B

This is great but for one thing....is it really called 2-1B? I mean we get stupid EU names for every alien that sees a nanosecond of screen time and they give two different, important droids from different films the exact same name? It's not like it's hard to come up with something is it?

Re: 2-1B

Looks good to me sculpt wise, looks like he has a few points of articulation. A step up from that ESB version which could use a redo to go along with this version.

Re: 2-1B

perhaps there maybe interchangable arms/hands? 1 for the ROTS version and 1 for the TESB version.

Its the same type of droid though man.

I dig it.
It isn't. Different arm, colour and legs, plus this one got trashed. Maybe the same manifacturer but you don't say a Cayenne is the same as a 911 do you? There's a zillion R2-Whatevers and I reckon this cool guy deserves his own independence, like 2-1A r something at least.

He's a 2-1B... with optional left-handed syringe attachment and titanium knees! Now available in blue or bluish silver!

Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing a new name for this one, but I also don't mind if it's just 2-1B.
