Hello,

Sealed box collectors this isn't the thread for you
grin.gif

When I finally worked out how I wanted to collect there seemed to be a lack of detailed information for the lazy collector who wanted to collect the Toys to compliment the action figures. Being a completist of sorts I wanted to know the ever burning question of "What's in the box?"
Basically a bit of research and viewing completed auctions goes a long way or heaven forbid opening up sealed examples to find out for yourself. Well I'm hoping to provide collectors with a guide/resource to collect boxed. My format may not be preferred as other threads have one photo showing everything together and that would probably be the easier way to use as a guide. This is a more detailed look. In most cases I have photographed both sides of sealed bags so you can see what is in there but in some cases just one photo of those if the item inside is clear anyway.

This is a guide to U.S. released Vehicles, Playsets and creatures for the 3 3/4 line released for the original trilogy. I have wanted to do this for some time but it has been an exhausting task and it has taken me some time to do.

Corrections, spelling mistakes or suggestions are most welcome as I would like to have the information as accurate as possible. Such as the Sonic Controlled Landspeeder. The item I am showing may not be 100% in unused condition as I am unsure how they came sealed. Was the R2 clicker in a bag etc? Also there may be call for the Early Bird certificate to be included or the action figure stand, collector cases etc. I felt though at this time it was best to focus on the vehicles, playsets and creatures.

There is also variation to some of the items that I haven't listed or do not own to be able to provide a comprehensive list. For example "Land of the Jawas" is also released without the rebate offer. There are other variations on boxes.

The in pack product catalogs may be random and other people may have different examples in their collection. I would also love to hear from anyone that can see anything missing even it is the smallest piece of warning paper or battery cover stickers etc.

The Landspeeder has now been updated with the contents thanks to fellow scummer Capetown so many thanks for your contribution.

Great stuff Paul. Some serious work there.

I think you should host this on a permanent site somewhere - it would be an excellent resource for collectors!!

Thanks to Capetown for reminding me about the Sandcrawler

Due to my moronic nature I forgot that one.

Updated to include the Sandcrawler.

I also notice that the Imperial Troop Transport thumbnails don't resize to a large format. I will try to fix that soon.

That's a nice initiative, but it would be worth setting up a dedicated website, or propose Gus a SWCA special feature, instead of using a thread that will be buried in a few months.

Also, if you allow me, it would be great to have picture on a plain color background

Stephane

I have no idea how to set up a website!

There are better ways of doing this and there are better ways to photograph items which I suppose would be better for a website. Consider me not one of the most gifted in the technological world. I just went with what I knew I could do.

Maybe some one else can take over the initiative with better ideas and skills. I'm happy to help them where I can but best to leave me out of the photography side.

Great work, Paul! Yes, a website would be fantastic for this for reference. You've done some pretty extensive work on this. Looking forward to more updates!

Agree, that a website with this contend would be great.

Sadly this thread will be buried among other threads as Stephane mentioned, unless the moderators or admins makes it sticky. Imo this deserves to be sticky, because of it's great information.

As a lifelong loose collector, this is a detailed visit to all those Christmas mornings when I ripped into the boxes and put everything together, then never saw the packaging again. You have no idea the emotional impact that the picture of the un-punched Trash Compactor foam had for me.

Wow. Some great info in this thread. Like the "Box inserts and general content lists" thread, this thread has some great info that should be preserved in some way.

Over at my website (erikstormtrooper.com), I already have scans of stickers and cardboard pieces, and I would be honored to host this stuff there, if that's cool with you. LMK

Great thread, and hope it gets a sticky.

I've got the Millenium Falcon so that's interesting, and I've now learned that the Rebel Transport doesn't have any inserts which is also interesting.

I collect boxed but mostly ROTJ, I hope you get round to doing a ROTJ feature with this thread.

Thanks,

Dan

Not for the 1st release. But I did recently open a MISB Collector's Series Landspeeder and took pics of the contents. Speeder, cardboard insert, sticker sheet, ROTJ catalog (Jabba on front), and "We Really Do Care" sheet (yellowed around edges). The downside was discovering that the insert rubbed scratches into the windshield, darnit.

QUESTION about the X-wing. The box pics show one side having the blue 'LP' symbol and the other without it. Is this indeed the same box? I have never seen such a specimen, where there's an LP on one side but not the other.

So is there a variation of the SW X-Wing box that has the 1st Luke in all the pics (including the sides) but with NO LP symbol on eithe front/back?

Tauntaun

Tauntaun With Open Belly Rescue Feature

Please note Capetown has advised that only one small cardboard insert came with this item. My example had two, as photographed but it would seem that mine is an error to have two. Consider a complete example to have the main insert and one small folded insert.
