Since vehicles are a little on the large size and probably very costly for many fans, maybe Hasbro can create some dioramas for the figures?

I'm thinking something small along the line of the old Angel scene bases that came with it's figures (picture) could work with the 6" line. Just have bases that can connect when several are attached (Hasbro failed at that in the past)

Once we get some figures happening Hasbro could then create some larger scale dioramas to put the figures, afterall a line with just figures would be pretty dull right?

Would you buy any diorama scenes if Hasbro made any? or simply don't care?

For now I plan to display these in box so diorama scenes wouldn't interest me. Since they will apparently be pre-posed in box to cater to the in box collector I'm guessing a lot of others might go that route too. That pretty much removes any desire for diorama scenes imo.

I wouldn't mind seeing something similar to the environments that Sideshow offers for their 12" figures, which really just amount to a fancy stand with a small backdrop. I don't think any of those are intended to link together and I wouldn't really consider that a requirement anyway.

I don't really see how they could market them, though. Would they sell them individually or pack them with a related figure? Would that figure also be available for sale without the base? Would they be for sale in the toy aisle? Wouldn't that be like trying to sell action figure stands individually?

Overall, I might be interested in them depending which environment is chosen, but even my most positive reaction would be a strong maybe. Tatooine/Streets of Mos Eisley backdrop? Sure that might be cool. Death Star Interior? That one would actually be really cool. Dagobah or Endor environments? Maybe. Geonosis, Naboo, Kamino environments? Meh... not so much.

Id buy any diarama pieces from all sw movies and that includes the prequels as well. The only problem I have is that Id much rather have diaramas for the 3 inch line instead of the 6 inch line. I like the idea of the 6 inch line but only as an A and B character choice line only.

Stands like those shown, would be cool, although I'd rather see Hasbro put any "diorama" money into the smaller line first.

i'd be all for some background display stands / mini dio backgrounds for the 6"line... I really wish Hasbro would do something like this for the 3.75" line as well

Since Hasbro and Gentle Giant seem to be working together so closely on this line, then maybe Hasbro could allow them to produce and release some 6" scale dioramas that would be compatible with these figures.

I could see that, but you'd almost assume they'd have to be base with the figure. Hasbro always says playsets don't sell well, so if they sold these separately, they'd look a bit foolish.

If they made these as environment pieces that could work with both lines, then it might work out for them.

That's an easy enough fix, just don't sell them as "playsets," sell them as "action figure environments" or "dioramas." The word "playset" implies that it is design for play, specifically for children's play. That assumption wouldn't be nearly as strong if they were sold as environments on the GG website. In fact, I don't think it would be a good idea to try to sell them in toy stores. Simply make them available through Gentle Giant, maybe even as part of their Premiere Guild Membership just to see how receptive collectors are to the idea.

Gosh dioramas, where do I start? I love them, ALL of my modern collection from '95 to present is displayed in dioramas. HOWEVER, in order for them to work they need to be big, the bigger the better( the cardboard Cantina and Jabba's Palace rock). Hasbro tried the small scale "bases" twice with blah results. Nothing is worst than a generic tiled grid base (hey look, Boba Fett is standing on...a kitchen floor?). A great feature was the snap together bases of ROTS 2005. If you had 5 or more, you can make a decent sized environment. Unfortunately, the snap feature is also it's own undoing. It means the 6" line will have to dedicate an entire wave to one singular theme in order for the environment to be large enough to be awesome. I doubt that is Hasbro's strategy. How cool would a Tatooine environment be where each base is a section of the Krayt dragon's vertebrae on sand. If they release one "sand" section per wave mixed with a Death Star hallway or Cloud city wall section, people will lose focus. How long are you gonna wait? I can imagine a co-worker asking what's that next to the computer, "Oh, that's my Han Solo standing next to a tiny section of the dining table from Bespin, just wait two more years and it'll look awesome." Can you see his eye rolling? Like my ROTS bases, they'll all end up crammed in a shoe box. It's too much to ask collectors to wait a few years to complete a base set when we aren't sure if the line will last past the next Toyfair. Maybe it's more realistic to put the resource into more play features like extra hands, heads, weapons, the way it is now. I don't mean to poo poo the idea, I love it but I just can't see it working.

This. 100% this.

With Han & Greedo coming, I seriously want to to construct a cantina table and bench. I thought about constructing the whole alcove, but I think I suffice with a bench and maybe a half wall...enough to get an iconic Solo pose. I want the table and bench to be big enough to fit the four characters around it. So that might be challenging. :D

Agreed. I'd love to have something like this.

It shouldn't be to hard to construct! If there's enough pic floating around I may start this as a custom

I'd love to have that Bespin carbonite room flooring if they made it available. I think there was a guy on one of the SW customizing sites about a year ago who was producing these...but they were pretty expensive.

I wonder when someone with a 3D printer might come to our aid here...:hmm:

Oh yeah, a 3D printer will solve ALL of our diorama needs. ;) I hope one day, we at the 'Scum forums can share Cad drawings of home designed playsets for our affordable 3D printers.

Just wait til' 2023, everyone will own a 3d printer. And we'll get Wat Tambor.

I am terrible with math, so maybe some of you guys can help. I have an idea for my Sandtroopers. I know that 3 3/4" are 1:18 scale. I also know that the 6" figures are 1:12 scale.

If I were to take a display for the 3 3/4 figures and enlarge it, how much bigger would I have to go to keep the same scale? (Or at least pretty darn close)

Thank you! So that would mean it would be enlarged to 150% ?

Yep, but one thing you might want to factor in is the 3.75" aren't exactly 1:18 scale. Close enough that it shouldn't make a difference, but if you assume the average human is 6ft, at 3.75" that works out to roughly 1:19.2 scale which would make it 1.6 times or 160% bigger.

Now I know why you're an Emperor's Hand! I have never been that good with scale and size ratio. Thank you very much for your help. If I am able to get my plan in action I will provide photos!

You're welcome, and wow didn't know I reached hand status. I hope I'm his left hand, unless he's left handed than I hope I'm his right hand.

a diorama I would LOVE is a to-scale display wall from Jabba's Palace that I could hang my SDCC Carbonite Han on and have Boba there admiring his prize

I think the Diorama idea would be great. I could see the piece together working a lot like what I've seen people recommending with the BAF idea… Just make one scene throughout an entire wave. Don't split it up between different waves, just have hasbro do a repack of say.. a Bounty Hunters wave. Throw in Boba… Instant sales Include Bossk, 4-LOM, IG-88, and the like. And may-haps Vader and include the Bridge of the Ship :D
Anyway just an idea of what I'd totally buy, despite (Waits for hate) being a PT loving guy xD

Sadly, golden ideas like this get gimmick'd and make them impossible to land in our hands. I took to doing some work on building some pieces for my shelf at home. I used some artwork from NiubNiub's universe and overlayed them with some brushed steel and color to make them a little more realistic.

I'd love to see these in sculpt but I just hate to say I don;t think it will happen for this line.

This is my first draft at the Han in Carbonite on display in Jabba's palace.

Very rough and ready and drafted from cardboard which has warped. Ignoring the obvious flaws I cant decide if I want to progress to a sturdy and more detailed phase 2 or just whip Carbonite Han onto the stand he came with.

wow, Greedo looks freaky there.. reminds me of the vampire creature in the original Salem's Lot. That thing creeped me out for sure. actually, at 42 it still does since this reminded me of it.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I would love to see a few Black Series 'deluxe' figures including diorama pieces. Diamond Select has done an awesome job on the Gotham and upcoming Ghostbusters releases and I wish Hasbro would do the same. Like the Hoth Han Solo or Luke Skywalker, but instead of the creatures different iconic set pieces. They might not sell that well on the broad market, but could be interesting as store (or even convention) exclusives.

The trash compactor scene has already been rumored as an upcoming 6" release, but I fear it might just be a straight repack of Stormtrooper Disguise Han Solo, Chewbacca, the yet-to-be-released ANH Leia and Stormtrooper Disguise Luke with a different head sculpt (i.e. 'wet hair')... in a cardboard box similar to the Han Solo/Greedo Cantina scene.

It would be great if we can get something similar to the 2002 3 3/4" Saga Cantina sets (6 individual figures with a part of the bar each) or the screen scenes (which included the trash compacter, the Geonosian War Room and half of the Jedi Council).... I just loved those.
