They're expensive...I justordered a custom Case to houe my PF Obi and PF Vader from SS and it came to $240!!!
I hear ya. I got a separate case for Vader and Ben, but both combined ran me almost $400. For these pieces, though, it's a must. I need to get my case for the 1:1 Maul ordered soon.

Yeah, no one said it wouldn't be expensive.
What cabinets did you get?

Re: Sideshow 1:1 Maul 20-25 days out

If you want to go the Ikea route, the Bonde units have glass doors available and have a shelf height *just* big enough to fit Maul. They're narrower and shallower than the Docent cabinets, but the Docents don't have enough space between non-adjustable shelves.

I've put up some Docents primarily for my MR stuff and am going to pick up a Bonde for my Sideshow stuff (the PF figs are mostly too tall for the Docents as well), though I think I'll end up displaying the Maul saber with the bust. The units don't really fit together, but since you can get them in identical finishes, you could put them on opposite walls (or just so they aren't right next to each other) and it should look fine.

Re: Sideshow 1:1 Maul 20-25 days out

I'm using the JOURNALIST line from Ikea and those have deep shelves; and, even better, they have corner shelves that are 22"d. My 1/4 Vader stands in and 18x18x24" case placed on one of the corner shelves, and Grievous will be put on one as well. I really like the Bonde and Docent lines too; but, I really wanted to utilize corner space and needed deep shelving. I'll be going there tomorrow to pick up a few things for a few upcoming releases.

Re: Sideshow 1:1 Maul 20-25 days out

I love your setup, and the Journalist stuff looks like a great match if you're keeping everything in individual cases.
The Bondes seem to work better with tall, narrow items that aren't super deep (the PF figures are the obvious candidate there).
The Docents are wide and deep, but not quite tall enough for the PFs with sabers (but they can accomodate a MR AT-AT with case with just enough clearance for lights).

I suspect the Grievous PF will practically demand his own case, because the sabers see to it that he's pretty much tall, wide *and* deep.

I use the DOCENT cases for the Star Wars stuff and the DETOLF for the LOTR stuff...All from IKEA.

Yeah, Grievous will take up the most space due to the sabers. A 20x20x27" case outta be big enough to house it. The Docent shelves seem to getting popular among collectors. I've always thought they looked awesome. You really can't go wrong with any of the Ikea shelving, ya know?

Sir T, if you ever get pics or a site up showing your collection, let me know. I'd love to add a link to it on my site. I'm totally eager to see it!

I like mine. Except for the eyes. They are the biggest flaw on the bust.

Re: SSC 1:4 Scale Darth Maul Bust part 1

I have to say, this is the most amazing piece of Star Wars memorabillia that I own. The SSC figures are very realistic and take you to the galaxy far far away, but this thing is like having Ray Park made up staring at you face to face in your room, it's amazing. The level of detail and the paint quality is fantastic.

Re: SSC 1:4 Scale Darth Maul Bust part 1

I was really impressed with this and was pleased to get in on this. The removable hood was a great idea. I've added pics to my site in the Sideshow section

I stuck it in the front window on Halloween - freaked a few people out!

Cheers

Re: SSC 1:4 Scale Darth Maul Bust part 1

would i be right in assuming that in person the eyes dont look so plasticy and 'painted'?

on every photo i've seen all I see are badly painted eyes, which for an item of that size and price i was thinking that the eyes should be painted with much more care and detail than that.

Having said that... I have several SS 12" figures, and I know in photos those look much worse than they do in person.. which is why i asked first before criticizing it, lol

Re: SSC 1:4 Scale Darth Maul Bust part 1

hunky, in person, up close, the eyes are not as spectacular as you might expect, HOWEVER, unless you plan on getting right up in his face for a battle, this isn't a big deal. From a normal viewing distance, this piece is amazing, if it weren't for the rest of the body being missing, you would swear Ray Park put on his duds and got made up and was standing in your room with you. Photos don't necessarily favor this piece, they add a shine to the skin tone that is much more dull and human looking in person. If you want a piece that makes you feel like Maul's in the room with you, get this, it's so worth the price, it is costly, but if you love the character, which I very much do, then this is a great addition to your collection.

This bad guy will be soon at home. I won an ebay auction last weekend, 490 Euros with shipping. Unfortunately, this means no Attakus Grievous for a long time.

with inly 1000 made i'm sure most if not all of them are in the hands of collectors that wont part with it. $700 might not be too bad considering retail was $600

Another question. Is the hood removable, or is it attached to the back?
