Slave 1

Great figures and weathering on the cloud car, love the female pilot and her cloud car toy. And the rebel tech with Pello's head and the orange safety vest and landing sticks is especially awesome. My kind of Bespin setup! (y)(y)(y)(y)

Awesome paint/weathering job on the Cloud Car! I picked one up recently, I feel like they did a great job making it screen accurate while also integrating play features...love it!

Thank you. Such an awesome vehicle that Hasbro got definitive the first time.
Here’s another shot of it...

& one that I added Slave 1 (to keep this thread on track) 😬 We saw him depart, so here he is arriving earlier than the Falcon.

I really wish I had picked one up at retail at the time, but that was back when I was paying for the engagement ring for Malla and saving up for that Kashyyykian honeymoon.

Which A-Wing would they go with, the POTF2 one from 1997? Is the Resistance A-Wing from The Last Jedi line close enough to the classic design for a Vintage Collection release?

no, the RZ-1 (ROTJ) and the RZ-2 (TLJ) are totally different.

And all RZ-1 releases have ridges instead of panel grooves, so we will need a completely new mold. And - I haven't tested it on the A-Wing but the most recent Y-Wing gave me trouble with it - if the cockpit is detailed, then the whole thing should be a little bigger to allow for a steering joystick and still accomodate a pilot.

However, knowing Hasbro I bet we'll get the same old 1986 mold for a TVC re-release.

No, and while the TLJ A-Wing is better quality than the TFA vehicles, it still falls short compared to past vehicles and the standards they have for TVC vehicles.

It feels pretty cheap and there are shortcuts everywhere. It looks okay from a distance but you can tell where they saved money. Not having rear landing gear really bothers me because it just looks so short sitting there on top of being undersized.

I love A-Wings and have several between the Legacy and POTF releases. It's no comparison.

I imagine if they were to do a TVC A-Wing (maybe for ROTJ 40th in 2023), they would just dust off the retooled Legacy version and call it a day and that would be fine by me.

I used to have a POTF2 A-Wing - first modern fighter I owned. I don't think there was a better modern Kenner/Hasbro release until the Naboo fighters in '99.

I'm speechless. Only thing that would make this better is a fully detailed interior

Could someone give me the HEIGHT of Slave 1 when it is displayed vertically on the stand? Thanks!!!

How long before Hasbro repaints the vintage one and re releases it as Jango Fett's Slave 1?

Yeah, it was Jango's first. lol Even if they did I'd pass as I already have it and no amount of deco changes would get me to rebuy it for $150 when I originally paid $80 with 4 figures and a Jedi Fighter.

Maybe once they give Jango an updated mold like Boba just got they will think about a second cash grab before totally remaking Slave 1 from ground up as seen in Mando.

I mean tvc not regular vintage.
This mold was first released in the PT paint scheme as a TRU Clone Wars exclusive with mace Windus Jedi star fighter and some figures. Later on it was released with the OT paint scheme as a TVC release.

I just got a replacement for my old POTF2 A-Wing (gave it to a friends' kids 20 years ago) for $28 shipped via ebay. MIB. I am an opener.

This repaint of a TVC 1.0 ship is why I haven't tried to pickup any other TVC 1.0 ships or beasts I don't have. Any of them are fair game for a superior re-release if market conditions warrant it, like Fett's reappearance in Mando S2.

Correct, this is the same mold not the old smaller one. It came in the Rise of Boba Fett clone wars set that came with Mace’s Jedi star fighter, Bossk, young Boba Fett, Mace, and Anakin.

I had no idea. At that point I was only collecting vintage!

I remember when this came out, and the exciting consensus among collectors was that a Slave 1 repaint isn't far behind.

The Rise of Boba Fett Ultimate Battle Pack is such a crazy set to think about these days. It was a decade ago, but a full display/play experience right out of the box with all those figures, a brand new large scale vehicle, and a starfighter for only about $100.

I don't collect animated style figures, but I picked up that set for the vehicles and sold the figures off.

Things like that make me feel we truly didn't appreciate how good we had it back then with all the battle packs, figure sets, evolutions, comic packs, etc.

It all went downhill when TVC became 3.75 Black Series and was 'entrusted' to Walmart exclusively. I'm sure it played some part in TRU downfall - I know I spent a lot less at TRU after that. I'm glad I picked up the Rise of Boba Fett pack back in the day. Back when there was more competition, we'd get better assortments and pricing. I'm sure it's just a matter of time until it's either get it on Amazon during the first ten minutes it's up or pay in multiples from third party sellers or Ebay and we complain about Walmart and Target being gone.

It wouldn't have gone to Walmart if TRU stepped up and supported it, it's more a case that Walmart was the only retailer willing to foot the bill to keep it going

And the problem with that deal was that Walmart also likely strong-armed Hasbro for the cheapest price, which meant mainly repacks because there was no budget for much new stuff.

So in hindsight TRU might have been the better partner.
