Nothing confirmed at the time of this post but is anyone eagerly waiting to see if Hasbro will release a retro wave of Skeleton Crew figures? Who would you like to see made?

Ugh, not all. That movie looks terrible. I think they have reached a new low.

since tvc seems to possibly shy away from SC atm until ratings come in, lol, - I'd like to see the 4 kids, Brutus, and the droid. If Brutus does maybe it toTVC (even a retool of Ariel's head/arms) then another character like Vane (He too should be in TVC w/ his Mando S3 ties) or one we haven't seen yet maybe

After Acolyte flopped, before they could assess consumer interest in figures, I think they'd be wise to shift to the "wait and see" approach. Just because a random new media character might sell in TBS & TVC, it doesn't mean they'll be supported in Retro. I'm interested in exploring the series, but not buying figures from it, even if I enjoy it, as I'm moving away from collecting ancillary characters that aren't important to the Skywalker saga. If they do a Retro figure of Teek, that would be hard to pass on though, haha.

Wait and see is the exact approach I'm suggesting in the general thread. It costs them very little to wait. I know they think it's helpful to generate buzz when the show is airing, maybe a few additional pre-orders, but you're better off waiting a few months, and see what makes sense. Then, you're not worried about spoilers either. You don't end up with incomplete lines.

If they had it to do over again, I don't think they would have made an Acolyte line at all. And, I don't think a Skeleton Crew retro collection line stands much chance of selling either. I also think that doing exactly 6 figures from every new media wave is a poor decision as well. At this point, nothing wrong with going the vintage collection route and just doing single character releases no matter what the media is. I'd absolutely be fine if the next run of anything Disney was a mix of Mandalorian (Cobb Vanth), Thrawn, Baylan, Andor, etc. Just make what makes sense at this point.

while wait n see feels smart, the down side is...what if Acolyte was not cancelled nor was a flob (for example), had they took a wait n see approch, figs would about now start into development and not see light of day for another 18 month average, 2 years after airing. Who'd still be interested in figs, for the most part by then? So it is a lose/lose situation overall

Yeah, they always risk dwindling interest and a drop in potential sales, but they already know that new media Retro doesn't outsell OT Retro, so maybe they'll just put together a wave that Disney will approve and not worry about it, as 5 POA is less of an investment than SA tooling. People have been speculating the same about the Epic line, as they'd be cheaper to release than TVC, and actual kids might buy some. Apparently Retro hasn't sparked much interest with kids though, which makes sense, as they didn't grow up with the Kenner aesthetic, like we did.

How much exposure could the Acolyte retro set have had on kids since it was a f.c. excl.? Sure, some 6 or 7 yr Olds are looking at amazon, but how many are on pulse, EE, bbts? I would guess, not many at all. Point is, the these are aimed at older collectors, only Epic line is aimed at kids, thats why those are clogging wm, target and meijer shelves. Only w/ recent sale did I see them on pulse. Yeah ee has 'm too but does bbts? I haven't looked. But again, a kid is not likely shopping for e.h. online, if they're even shopping for 'm at wm.
Interestingly though, YF has added SC to EH rumor list so that may be the best 4" SC source and the tvc jod was just a whistle-wetter.

Ideally, Hasbro would love it if kids were into Retro, or any other products aimed at adult collectors, but having tested them at retail for years, they never caught on with the demographic and aren't even wildly popular with as many collectors as they initially thought. That's why everything is in a 6-pack, and mostly available online (in more limited quantities). Without much of a retail presence, Retro feels more niche than ever.

its almost as if i you can close your eyes now and guess what Hasbro will do. "x" figure in vintage series, black series and retro lol zero creativity

Show is so-so. Not high on my wants list. Boring kid action figures? No thanks.

Retros are mainly appealing to those of us that had these as children. Many of us aren’t invested enough in the D+ to warrant figures in this particular format. When Mon Mothma commands a hefty sum on the secondary market whilst Obi Wan can be had for $3.99 there is something to that data.

Another data point to consider is Units Produced. Since Obi Wan went to Target and Walmart and every where else, that wave was made in at probably double the quantities of the ROTJ box.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say I'd love a Skeleton Crew wave/boxset.

Why?

1. The show has been great fun so far.
2. My kids are loving the show. My oldest gasped at the main playing with SW toys in the show and said "he's just like me". Seeing that connection is magical.
3. I want my kids to see something they love as part of the SW I love.

I love new media stuff as an extension of the SWtoys I had as a kid. I love it being one big line, stretching from the 70s to today. No other SW toyline can do that.

I know everyone wants Steve to reveal the ANH set this weekend.

But if any D+ show deserves a Retro wave it's this one, and this weekend would be a great time to reveal it.

The way I see it, if Hasbro can sell a minimum production run of SC figures, more power to them and those that want to buy them. That said, if they can only sell less than half of the stock, and the rest ends up at discount outlets - they shouldn't gamble with the line's health. It's not unlike my feelings on the Acolyte set, it's not something I'm interested in, but if 10k (ballpark example) consumers will buy them, that's a demand that should be met, no matter the content it's pulled from. Maybe by the end of the series, the demand will be overwhelming...

That's a Negatory good-buddy. I would not be surprised though if they already made them. They are on a roll of not making the retros that people want and making ones they don't.

I dont think the Acolyte six pack was overproduced by any means. You can't even find those at retail. You have to get them at a handful of online stores. So, if they do the same with Skeleton Crew, then it would be perfect, although I think Skeleton Crew would be more popular than Acolyte. Looks like they are finally finding the right balance on these. In my opinion, the Mandalorian season 2 wave, and the Kenobi wave were the ones that were overproduced, and I think hasbro learned their lesson from that. Its much better the way its ran now.

I'm guessing the reveal will be a six pack of POTF reissues w/ coin and packaging w/o faux weathering including a stormtrooper Han than will give Stan Solo a run for his money. The other reveal will be a reissue of the Creature Cantina that includes reissues of Hammerhead, Walrusman, Greedo and Blue Snaggletooth. They will then state they had considered doing a Skeleton Crew set but realized how bad of an idea that was. ;)

My wallet has gotten a lot of breaks recently up until the Black Friday deal on EE. Prior to that I think my last Retro purchase was the Jedi 6 pack.

The RS crowd here in Retro runs predominantly OT-centric.

Meanwhile a similar Facebook post had a lot of enthusiasm in it.

Almost don't need this thread :p

i bet there will be TWO full reveals. One for Crew and one for OT. and then possibly a few pipeline reveals.

that'd be sweet, but for pipelines, SE claims they are limiting those so if RC gets pipelines, that would be truly amazing, especially if never made OT

Two major multipack reveals alongside pipelines?! That will rival what TVC is getting in the news cycle and will result in some of the SA fanatics calling for an immediate end to Retro, so they can have the full budget, lol. Seriously though, one announcement / product reveal would be great, considering they barely mention Retro at these events. I'd love to see a Q&A and an open discussion about the direction of the line though.

Steve said "moving forward we will see a return to classic characters"..... so that's why I scratch my head at all these "Oh, it is Skeleton Crew for sure."

I would think he would have said - "Soon, we will return to classic characters."

Wasn't there a photo of Walrusman in his latest post too? I think we're getting what's left of the Star Wars line in this next reveals w/ some possible never-before-made characters in Retro.

I think most of us probably read Steve's comment, as that's major news around here - without an actual timetable though, it could be a while until we see a shift, as products are often designed and tooled before most of the public is aware of them. Jayson did mention the set of figures that weren't produced by Kenner, so the announcement could be six new characters from the OT, and even if SC figures were planned, they could have been scrapped before tooling, once they realized demand for Acolyte was nearly nonexistent.

I think many of you are over reaching on Steve's comment. Come on... let's look at this logically, shall we? The week the Skeleton Crew launches, there's an announced Retro wave same week. Now, I dont know how many of you took marketing 101 but seriously...

Thats what people would think, normally.
But with MrStevies/Jaysons comments we know we are getting an OT set. That said the time of this reveal in particular does suggest a SC set.

I'm happy either way :)
