I hope it's okay to post here as it's not SW-related.
I've been wanting to do this for a long time but the fact that these figures are out now sealed the deal.
Originally I'd figured about 1/30th scale based on the 2.5" size they're advertised as, but after measuring them they're closer to 1/24, which is incidentally what the living room set appears to be.
As you can see the living room fits perfectly, and I did not plan it this way! You'll see later that the TV should actually be further away, so once it's positioned properly in the room it will look a lot better.
Here's two 1/24 scale cars positioned in the garage:
And a comparison with Homer and Marge. Though they scale very well with the cars, neither can fit in the driver's seat due to their weird proportions, and Homer won't fit in the car at all.
The living room furniture properly positioned:
The rarely-seen 'Rumpus Room'. I had to look through several images to get a full shot of the tic-tac-toe playmat, which also changes frequently.
Here it is with some ink (paint marker technically). Though I'll be measuring lines and everything, the ink and paint will all be done by hand to pay homage to the old animation style.
Here it is painted. At this point the black lines need to be gone over again.
LOL just realized the couch is upside down
Here it is after re-doing the black lines:
I started on the exterior last night because I want to make sure I can make it fit right before I go too far on the walls and 2nd floor.
As it is, the whole house may appear a little scrunched down. I think a lot of that is because the exterior of the house in the show wasn't designed based on what we see of the inside, i.e. they weren't really working off an actual floor plan, they just kind of drew the rooms with a certain look and even moved them at times when convenient to the plot. It may also appear a bit too big in some way, even though the living room seems to scale just right. I don't know if that has to do with how they made the furniture or what.
I discovered half-scale dollhouse furniture is 1/24 scale so I'll probably be purchasing a lot of that stuff and painting it to fit, as well as making a lot of my own stuff. The more I think about it the more I realize it's going to be a huge job even just constructing the house, let alone filling it up with furniture and stuff to give it the right look. But it's going to be a lot of fun.
