Typical conversation:

VADER : Do they have a code clearance?

PIETT : It's an older code, sir, but it checks out. I was about to clear them.

Shall I hold them?

VADER : No. Leave them to me. I will deal with them myself.

PIETT : As you wish, my lord. Carry on.

Love the display.
I have recently acquired a SS PF Speeder Bike, just wandering where you got the display case? Trying to find one or someone to make one? Is yours home made?
Thanks, Dave

I had that case custom made by a local acrylics manufacturer to my specs. It is very sturdy and well made, and as a one of, cost almost as much as the speeder itself.

Thank you!

I'm in a planned pause right now building up funds for more display cabinets following my move. I should be displaying more again this December. Right now my funds are prioritized towards acquiring more items, with the cabinets following as a secondary priority.

Amazing collection! I just got into Prop Replicas, and was eyeing your ideas for display (hope you dont mind if I be a "copy-cat"). I saw the shelves on Ikea's website, but they only come in one size (the 47" in height); did you stack them to get the higher shelves?

Again, great collection!

The 47" height is only one of the sizes they produce, they have several others as well. The cabinet shown on the right in my photos is one cabinet double wide, at 75 5/8" tall. Here is a link to its page at Ikea. The glass doors are from the Tomba line and are purchased separately.

Thank you! I'm playing with my ideas for the eFX X-Wing arriving soon.
may i suggest the death star trench (with 3 sides)? or maybe recreate the surface of the death star with a starry space background.

whatever you choose, i am sure it will be as beautiful as your collection display.

Re: Shadow\'s display area, work in progress

Shadow, What a great display. I have been looking and looking for something modular for a new room that has been designated for my collection. I love what you have done with the Besta Cabinets and Tombo doors. Fortunatly I have an IKEA 30 minutes away! One question....What was your light solution? I notice you have them on each shelf. What type of lights and did are they permanent? Again, very nice. Thanks!

Thanks! The lights are from Ikea also, Grundal is the line. Came in packs of three and very easy to mount.

They are 10w quartz lights and so cool to the touch I can put my hand right on the cover lens without feeling heat. Very safe to use without fear of heat buildup.

Shadow..
Amazing display..
Quick question..
Where did you get the custom display base for the ESB luke hilt and blaster?
Did the custom stand utilize the case from the blaster?

That was a custom case I had made from a vendor who no longer exists as far as I can tell. The site was www.sgcases.net and the case maker used to be on these boards by the name Kodafett but left long ago.

Wow Shadow! Those two new pieces are freakin' sweet! I received my shipping notification and can't wait to get them!

BTW, you're really good a camera. I love how the detail just pops in your photos. Do you use ambient lighting or do you have a light setup?

Thanks for sharing!

Re: Shadow\'s display area, work in progress

I try to use as much natural and ambient lighting as I can, because that is usually the best lighting available. Even in a studio all a pro is trying to do is simulate a natural north light from the sun which is the softest light with a clear blue sky being the reflector.

In some of my current shots I use available fill lights when needed to create contrast and highlights, but I try to use as much ambient light as possible.

(The give away if you're trying to spot fill lights in a shot is count the shadows being cast. If more than one then the photog is using a fill light.)

Re: Shadow\'s display area, work in progress

Great tip! I actually went from a point and shoot to a DSLR, my first one, the Nikon D80 several years back and have yet to master it. I've got some down time the next few weeks, so maybe I'll get some shots for the limelighting thread soon! Thanks!

This is such a good thread, the stuff dreams are made of. I love the LE stormtrooper helmet... Wonder how many of us want to add one of those to our collection??

This is a very impressive obsession.

Great Pics Shadow.

What kind of table do you have your Emperor and Grievous Busts on? And where did you purchase it from?
