Figured this figure deserved it's own thread. He's up for pre-order at several places, I personally P.O.d him from AmiAmi (still available as of this writing). I'm not a huge collector of SHF, in fact I only own one of them, the TFA Han Solo (which I absolutely adore). I had to get Indy though! I think they knocked it out of the park, at least judging by the prototype photos:

According to the specs, he comes with:

SpecificationsSize: Approx. H150mm
Material: PVC, ABS

[Set Contents]
Main figure
Alternative head
Alternative face
Alternative arm part (left/right)
Alternative hand part (left/right) x3 types each
Whip
Gun
Bag
Golden idol (Gold statue)
Headpiece to the Staff of Ra
Sand bag
Strap for the whip

Wow! The accessories look great (especially the idol) and I dig the smiling face. When you get him in hand (guessing from the October date at the website), let us know what you think.

I was really tempted to get into the Adventure Series but I’ve got a nearly complete set of the 2008 line (including all the hard to find stuff like ToD and the SDCC set) and there’s some pretty massive holes in the 6 inch line. But I was always going to at least grab an Indy.

now I’m really glad I held off. This looks like the perfect 6 inch Indy figure!

$60 before shipping is not a bad price.

When S.H.Figuarts get it right the figures are phenomenal. Hasbro has come a long way since 2016 - but never as good as the best Figuarts.

The best Figuarts look better in person than in the promo pictures.

This is very tempting.

If it turns out like their Tattooine Luke and not like their 1989 Batman, it'll be fantastic.

I'm fed up with Hasbro's crap, so I just put an order for this one as well.

My only nitpick, and I hope it's correctable, is the curved handle on the coiled whip. In reality, the leather is wrapped around a steal spike, so it'd be mighty hard to curve it no matter how broken in it is.

That said, I still want one!

Tatooine Luke is a work of art. That figure is remarkable.

I've never preordered a figuarts figure before, so is this something that US shops will be having up for preorders at some point or is it only Japanese shops? I don't know anything about preordering something like this from overseas.

Hard to say. Amazon sells SHF, but it doesn't really seem like they sell all of them. I've seen them in comic shops and places like Barnes and Noble, heck Target even sells some...but they all seem to be mostly anime stuff. The only thing I ever ordered from overseas was a Starblazers model of the Argo (Yamato). That was from HLJ, and I didn't have any issues. My mom used to order a lot of stiff from AmiAmi though, so I went with them. Might cost a bit more with shipping, but I'm willing to pay it for this.

I was expecting BBTS at the least to stock this but so far, no dice. Figuarts are a funny lot because some get distributed in the US and others are Japan-only depending on the particular license. But BBTS often imports Japan-only releases. But who knows?

Good to know. I was a bit confused with their shipping offers. The only one I was familiar with was DHL, so I went with that one. I ordered one for a buddy too, so we'll split the shipping regardless. :D

I was going to say BigBadToyStore, too. They stock a lot of Figuarts from all sorts of properties.

There are rules with Star Wars about what company can sell what scale figures were. It’s my understanding Hasbro exclusively can sell the 6” scale in North America. And Hasbro has global rights for 3 3/4”.

If Indy is the same as Star Wars for 6” it means Barnes and Noble will not have the S.H.Figurats Indy for sale. Bandai isn’t allowed to export their 6” Star Wars figures to US retailers.

But a store could import the figures for itself to sell. BigBadToyStore or a re-seller on Amazon might do that.

Really ordering from a Japanese company isn’t that difficult or expensive. I’ve only had good interactions buying from them.

Do you have any recommendations of Japanese companies you have good luck? It sounds like amiami is a good one, but any others?

Also, I heard there's going to be a Mezco one 12 (or whatever) Indiana Jones as well? If that's the case, that might be a lot better than a figuarts Indy (although the pictures so far look very, very nice)?

Ordering from Japan isn’t the issue. I collect Godzilla and buy stuff from Japan routinely. The issue is most Japanese retailers are already sold out and shipping a single item from Japan is expensive enough to make the savings in the purchase price moot I normally wait until I’m ready to order multiple items or use HLJ’s private warehouse to save on shipping costs.

Then there’s the issue of customer service. I’ve had a few (expensive) defective items over the years from Japanese retailers and dealing with their customer service to resolve the issue has universally been an absolute nightmare. Both HLJ and HobbySearch were nearly impossible to deal with over manufacturer defects.

BBTS is super easy to deal with in those cases in my experience.

So yeah, I prefer to order stateside when I’m only looking to buy one item. I only order from Japan when it’s something I can’t easily get anywhere else or I’m ordering enough quantity that it spreads the shipping costs out to generate a real cost savings.

fwiw I did contact BBTS a few days ago and they gave me what kinda seemed like a canned answer that didn’t directly state they’ll be carrying Indy but strongly implied they would. So maybe?

Amiami is good.

The Mezco one 12 collective Indy is up for preorder. Have to say though, I think I’ll stick with the figuarts Indy as long as it looks as good in person as it does in those pics.

The softgoods just don’t look good on the Mezco one and I’m not crazy about the faces either.

Agreed. I like soft goods for capes and robes but I’ve grown to prefer jointed hard plastic sculpts for almost anything else. Scale clothing is just too fidgety and rarely actually looks scale, especially on anything smaller than 1/6.

I'm debating canceling my order for this one. I think I have "Indy fatigue." That was too much Indy, too fast. In the end, I'll be happy with just one figure from each of the original movies, and that's all I need. Hasbro's are good enough. Besides, I'm still not sure how this one is gonna turn out. Could be amazing like their TFA Han Solo....or it could suck like their attempts at Michael Keaton.

He's also gonna be shorter than the entire Hasbro line, so that's not cool.

It's sold out on amazon japan, so I may just go ahead and get it and keep it sealed and re-sell it. Not sure yet.

It does look great! And hey look Hasbro, they have a shiny idol!

I preordered two of these from a Japanese
company so hopefully they come through.

Ah crapola. That looks really good and I already canceled my order.

I still predict he's gonna look short and slim next to the Hasbro figures.

And, unfortunately, it was not just the prototypes, the lower half is just bad in my opinion. Pants are way too "crisp." Creases, pleats, seams — everything. Way too rigid. The top half of the figure is amazing.

Packaging looks like it was ripped right out of the 80's or 90's.

I would like to see him in front of me. In some of those pictures he looks great and in others he looks super shiny and off.

People are getting shipping emails...not me yet. Can't get this soon enough! It looks amazing!

That hat triggers me in undescribable ways. Some of the articulation aside (torso and arms), the figure doesn't seem that much better than the Hasbro offerings. I'm still interested in the grinning head, though.

Some random pics off twitter. Doesn't really look THAT different (or better?) than Hasbro's in my opinion. At least they're roughly the same size.

(I think that's a Figma horse...)

I hope there's a way to straighten out the handle on the coiled whip. Steel spikes don't bend. And I'd look to repaint the bagstrap buckle.

But other than those, I do like the look of it!

Just got charged for mine :D

I've got to figure out who I ordered mine from and then email them my updated credit card expiration date and hope I don't need to translate the email into Japanese as I ordered it online from a Japanese merchant. I sure do love when I have to update the credit card information!

Looks incredible. The Hasbro one is okay, but this is a masterpiece. Bandai has gotten pretty lazy with their Star Wars and Marvel figures, but when they give it the full effort, they are still capable of make truly great figures.
