According to the pictures that have surfaced we'll be seeing a Scout Trooper in the first wave of 2013, in the build a Droid line.

From that pic, it seems to be exactly the same as the VTSC version. BJ hips would be welcome, but unless it comes with a larger helmet sculpt, I'll be passing.

Uh... why?

I mean, we're getting a pack in with the Speeder and neither seem to have a new head or ball hinged hips.

Probably for those who missed it the last time it was on a single card and may want to army build without having to buy multiple speeder bike packs.

Well that excuse isn't going to work forever.

And for those that "missed out" should go online and buy them. And Hasbro should update them.

This figure has been repacked extensively.

I don't see how Hasbro would release the Speeder Bike with a Biker Scout packed in and release the same exact figure on a single card at the same time. I am extremely confident & hopeful the single carded figure is at the very least, a re-tool of the '06 figure.

Hmm, a good point. Maybe they think we want more.

I'll get a couple if the have BJ hips. If it's just a re-release, then I don't need it.

I hope so.
This is weird though.

Why release the figure at all if you are going to pack one with the Speeder.
And even weirder, so far its seems that both figures are not new or re-tooled.
Curious and curiouser.

I'd settle for one but I already have the existing version which I already have a couple of that I'm happy with.

There is an emerging pattern across all the lines of the exact same toy being available in different packaging and formats at the exact same time.
Cost-saving? Probably.
Lazy? Definitely.
Works on me as a consumer? Not at all.

We saw Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in about 4 or 5 different packages when TPM hit, be a bit annoying if it's the same with this trooper.

How could they update him much more though? Just a bigger helmet???

New helmet(non removable!), new hands, BJ hips. Done.

If they increase the size of the helmet, then they need to thicken up the neck, otherwise it will look like a bobble-head. Also, I would like to see more range of motion in the elbows and the torso pouches sculpted larger and more accurate.

There are certain figures that should always be available and stormtroopers or troopers in general are one of them. If a kid watches Rotj for the first time and wants a bikerscout don't you think he should be able to get one? Diehard long time collectors aren't the only group purchasing these toys.

This figure is one that I will need to army build. I only have 1 of this guy that I got years ago, so I need more to build up a full squad.

I hope it'll feature the following improvements:

ball-hinged wrists - so he can hold onto the handle bars correctly.
ball-hinged hips - needed
bulkier torso pouches
Legacy Nik Sant sized helmet - with flip-up visor

I think with all those improvements, they'd never have to invest additional tooling costs into the Scout Trooper again. He'd be perfect.

You mean "we see," as in they are all still on the pegs right now, all of them.:wtf: But I agree with others that the carded version will have some sort of upgrade, more than likely the BJ Hips. If Vader got them, and all the clones & troops are now getting them too, this one is a no-brainer.

The image is certainly an old one. I am sure it is just a holding image, because they did suggest the new figure has improved articulation, so maybe there will be other changes.

Those black shoulder joints better be white when this sees retail.

Looking at their track record as of late (Jar Jar, Kithaba, et al) I'd put all my money on the black joints. It's unfortunate, but search your feelings- you know it to be true.

Unfortunately I did search my feeling, and I know this to be almost certainly true. smh.

It looks like parts of the figure have been retooled a bit. The neck seems thicker and the helmet seems new; but, unfortunately, not larger. I'm assuming it has ball-joint hips?

I'm interested enough that I will likely buy one or two.

This looks like an all new figure. At Galactichunter you can see some pretty cool close up shots of this figure and the one that is coming to TRU with the speeder, they look to be identical. Definitely will pick this up!

Not sure there's anything that new here.

Obviously it has a new pelvis with BJ hips, and new upper legs, but the rest looks like the 2006 one.

The helmet may be new - the ridge above the eyes looks less pronounced, and more curved, but it's still too small.

If this is an all-new figure, then the differences are so minor as to be almost nonexistant (apart from the hips of course).

Doesn't bother me as I think that the details on the 2006 one are fine, although the helmet should be bigger.

The straps on his hips are black/grey now and he has a black square on his chest.

Yeah, paint apps are different, but the square on the chest was already sculpted on the old one. Still can't tell if it's a new helmet, or if the different paint apps that make me think the helmet is new.

The 2006 one has a better helmet, and correctly coloured shoulder joints. Hardly an update.

Shoulders are smaller and less bulbous on the new version. The upper torso feels smaller as well, but it's hard to tell if that is because of a new sculpt or just plastic shrinkage from the mold being used so much.

If the helmet is a new sculpt, it actually looks worse than the previous version.

The only difference I notice is his pelvis, the new one is more "V" shaped, the old one is more "U" shaped.

I await a joke to appear...

it be nice if he has a removable helmet with a visor flips up and of course ball jointed hips on figure as well.
