Way awesome if it comes trough 👍🏻😊 a definate must-have to me.

How TF would he possibly be a deluxe? What accessories could he possibly come with, and he's not an especially large character....

I think "Deluxe" is more of a catch-all phrase in regards to BS figures. It could indicate more accessories, figure size, complexity of design, # of paint applications, etc. Anything that increases the product cost and/or cannot be readily slotted into a mainline wave seems to end up at the higher "Deluxe" price point.

For me this was always a pass regardless, just not an appealing character or look IMO. So I have no horse in this race, but $30 is too much for a figure with a stick. They might as well charge $30 for Chirrut.

No sure what on earth justifies him being a Deluxe but yes I want him, I cant really think of anything they will include with him. Deluxe just for him being a chunky dude? He would be a completely new sculpt, no reuse of anything that I can think of so I can imagine the cost would be a bit high.

Hasbro, two tubes? Twin pack? :D

Don't collect RO (such a good movie) but wish I could allow it, Forest Whitaker would've needed oxygen wearing all that deluxe gear

Yeah, as much as I LOVE RO, I just don't have the funds to replace all of my shoddily face painted old RO humans to get all the new ones that look great, PLUS Bodhi and Saw.

I could probably afford those two, but then the others would stand out like sore thumbs.

Annoying, but also - not a problem I can really address while being an unemployed collector.

I suppose I can get them all further down the line.

And did I mention I have no more shelf space and stacks and stacks of unopened figures?

Hahaha - SPACE MADNESS!
🤡 😜 🤪 :ROFLMAO:

Glad he is finally being made. Not super pumped about the deluxe price...but not surprised by it either.

Maybe they are going to give him swappable heads and leg, along with having some of his various apparatuses being removable, so he can have his main Rogue One look or his look from the opening scene / Rebels / potentially Kenobi?

Tell me about it, the lack of funds has seen my collecting habits limited to ESB plus some naughty time travel bounty hunters that have infiltrated the ranks. Sorry to hear you're unemployed, I was there during our last covid lock-down. My delightful employer used it as an excuse to fire me. Did find another job but it was tough selling off some of my gear to make ends meet. Now we're in it again for another two weeks.

Massive space madness :alien::eek::devilish:o_O:poop:

It is frustrating replacing old paint apps with print tech re-issues, thanks Hasbro....I now have overpriced older figures that are now custom fodder. Kind of a better time to be collecting now but things will always be improved and replaced. You'll find a job and be in a position to calmly replace in due course, sucks when you're in the mess. Know how it feels.

At least you have that pile of unopened goodies to put a smile on. Keep truckin' scummer! That reminds me, snowtrooper wants out of his box....

Have to see it first (like the Mace Clone Wars Exclusive at Walmart). I like obscure/weird characters, may bite if done well.

Hasbro's way to justify the price hike due to the many new pieces molded for his detailed appearance.

(Or Maybe Forest has a royalties deal with Disney, which explains the omission first time round?) 🤪

Just examined photos of the the 3.75 5POA figure and IMO this is pretty impressive already.
Considering the size, loads of costumedetails, added articulation, maybe an alternate bald head and Whitakers photoprint-likeness, I definatly can see the DLX-treadment now and I am pretty excited already to see some reveal ( hopefully at FFW next week or at the HasPulse event )

It would be interesting if they include shaved and not shaved alternative heads.

Hey, whatever you need to tell yourself to convince yourself it's worth it! ;)

I just don't see how anyone can talk themselves into it by using intricate detailing as a reason, it's a basic figure just like Baze, Chirrut, etc. Trying to justify the DLX price for a given based on ones outfit, if you're going to make the figure in the first place seems a flimsy argument in the face of figures like Range Trooper, Dengar, Han Solo(Mimban), or any others that had great detail and good accessors for the basic figure price.

IMO this is setting another precedent and by all those willing to fall into said trap will only usher in a new higher price for all. If Hasbro sees the Collectors being fine with paying $30 for what constitutes a basic figure they'll assume you're willing to pay it for all of them.

There is legitimate overreach in the Deluxe pricing department. Moloch was basically a brick that they tried charging extra for. Jar Jar was a stretch, they literally blue ballsed us. ROTJ Boba did not really demand the deluxe treatment, but we all splurged for it because Boba Fett. I think fewer will do so for the one-offness of Cobb Vanth.

But I do think Saw falls into the Gammo category of being a legitimate Deluxe figure. He’s got a unique angular costume with lights and doohickeys all over the place. He’s got one human leg and one mechanical. If they do the more memorable look of his from Rogue One where he has salt and pepper hair, that’s a complex paint app to get right 10,000 times over. He has a breathing apparatus that needs to be connected to his costume. He should have a soft goods Onderon flag on his back. As for accessories, it makes sense to have his staff and the message chit that Bodhi delivers to him. So compared to some of the other **** Hasbro has passed off as Deluxe, I think this one will be a bargain, but that’s just me.

Wow I just realized Onderon (Saw’s homeworld) is the same planet from KOTOR and Tales of the Jedi.

This is every corporations' goal.

Strategically make the price increase become the accepted norm.

Oh I agree, I just wish that more people could resist the temptations in an attempt to show them we're willing to make a stance on something. Thus showing them we won't just pay up for anything. I am curious at just how much they think they can charge for a 6" figure when McFarlane does a lot of 7" bulky figures compared to Hasbro's figures and for only $20-25. As posted in another thread we've seen some sizeable figures go for less than what Hasbro's Star Wars DLX figures do, and frankly their stuff is on the slimmer side as well meaning less plastic used.

Not directly connected, but we saw what happened when they all convinced us the appliances don't last for 15 year anymore and decided that it's best for their bottom line to sell us new things every year or two. Yet now we have a new generation who want more sustainable goods so that we don't fill up the Earth with used appliances etc. lol So I'm curious where this particular trend will lead, or if they'll be conveniently talked out of it at some point and they'll all just continue to buy a new iPhone very year... Not that I personally have anything against it, just that it seems a bit contradictory to preach sustainability or take a stance on climate issues when you're still buying new gadgets annually.

Back to the actual discussion:
My only guess is that they are indeed making fewer and fewer production runs as well as the License becoming even costlier to secure. I feel that at some point Disney is simply going to price Hasbro out of being able to make them affordable for most Collectors. Granted it's a bit too early to be thinking about that just yet because they still have until sometime in 22 before a restructure or totally new deal is needed. I will be curious as to how the last two years have impacted the line's worth to both companies though, does Disney feel like sales weren't strong enough coming out of the last year to charge more goring forward? Or do they see this as an opportunity to charge even more to recoup their losses during a very tough 18 months for the Company? Also, how does Hasbro move forward, is the line still worth paying such an exorbitant fee for the Franchise? And does this new fee essentially make 3.75" redundant or simply no longer cost effective to produce?

Perhaps this is why we're seeing prices edge higher and higher, or a bit of muddying the waters similar to how Transformers are now, and in anticipation of that they're trying to get a new baseline on what people will and won't pay before signing on the dotted line. If enough people are unwilling to pay they higher tier DLX price for essentially a basic figure then it might give them enough data going into the new deal on how much they'll be able to pay for the License. In order to continue with the line a new $25 price point for basic figures just might be needed, as well as more $30 DLX figures on a per character basis. I just hope the DLX price pint doesn't get too out of hand is all.

Corporations preach whatever moralist agenda for brand awareness, but in no way they will let it impact their bottom line. All this green packaging and climate friendlier batteries and etc, is their way of getting vegans to buy a salad at a steak house (food industry fact).

My view about the rest, this price hike was always planned on some long term chart, but obviously it's now accelerated to recover from the covid impact.

And it will never change, as when the masses want something to fill whatever void in their heads or homes, at the end they will always fork out the extra dollar.

once the market shows it can sustain a price hike, due to real world events, Covid and the shipping pinch, the prices never go back. Look at the Hop market about 12 years ago, blight, combined with a huge warehouse fire on the west coast sent the price of hops soaring. beer prices increased, as well as hops to us homebrewers. two years later, hop production was flush, but the price never went back.

I found the character annoying but I do love RO and he is needed. I look forward to seeing what Hasbro does.
