Retro Want List Thread

I want them to make Yuzzum. And I don't mean Jedi Rocks Yuzzum. I mean this guy...

That would require far more imagination than the Retro team is apparently allowed to use, lol. I know that a Yuzzum can still be seen in multiple shots of the special edition of ROTJ, though some shots from the original cut are now gone, unfortunately. A release like this in Retro would get to the core of what I'd love to see in this assortment, something genuinely retro, from the 80s, that wasn't attempted by Kenner, but would make for a cool figure. Here is a shot I found on google, I'm assuming it's from the original cut, as it doesn't appear in the HD version on Disney+:

I'd love to see a 'fill in the gaps' wave for each of the OT movies. Do figures in Retro style and give them Kenner style names. Yes, I know there is some fan figures but I want official ones.

I'll keep it to the regular 6 figures in a wave.

ANH
Uncle Owen
Aunt Beru
Sandtrooper
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Han Stormtrooper
Cantina Band Member

ESB
Imperial Admiral (base it on Ozzle)
Wedge
Luke Dagobah (tank top Luke)
Medical Ship Leia
Bespin Escape Leia
General Reiken

Honestly, ESB was covered VERY well by Kenner. I actually had to put effort into thinking who they could do without getting into 2 second nobodies. Even ROTJ is pretty covered.

ROTJ
Mon Mothma
Y-Wing Pilot (i'd say Slave Leia but she is a no-no in today's world)
Oola
Mother Ewok with baby
Vader with removable helmet
R2-D2 with serving tray
So looks like we are getting a new ROTJ figure, never made before and not part reuse. I am guessing it will be Luke Final Duel....

I heard we were getting a re-issue of the DV Helmet Carrying Case with a new figure pack-in... someone posted this on Facebook in one of the Retro Star Wars groups... but again this is a rumor so until I see official Hasbro confirmation I'm treating as rumor.

I hope it is a rumour. The 3PO and Vader cases are among the worst products in the entire vintage run. Tacky, ugly wastes of space. The vinyl square cases however are brilliant.

Yeah, they are lousy at carrying figures. Just lousy.

The vinyl cases look great and were utterly amazing at actually neatly holding the action figures…

Credit to macross7 for making a great list, I'm just going to do some minor adjustments for personal wants:

ANH
Uncle Owen

ESB
Captain Piett
Luke Dagobah (tank top Luke)
Snowspeeder Luke (removable helmet)
Bespin Escape Leia
General Reiken

Also, expanding into Episode I-III:
I excluded figures they already got the vintage aesthetic of right during the 2014 5POA line (Clone Troopers, Super Battle Droid, Sidious, Grievous and 2012 MTT Battle Droid)

TPM
Qui-Gon Jinn
Padmé Amidala (Battle Outfit)
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Anakin Skywalker
Darth Maul
Jar Jar Binks

AOTC
Anakin Skywalker
Padmè Amidala (Geonosis)
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Yoda (would look great on a vintage card)
Count Dooku
Jango Fett (removable helmet)

ROTS
Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Padmé Amidala (Mustafar) because she was never released on a vintage card
Mace Windu (never released on vintage ROTS card)
Invisible Hand / Battle of Coruscant Chancellor Palpatine (with switchable Sidious head and cloth robe, would be nice if he had a telescoping Lightsaber in his sleeve, just like in the movie)
Nute Gunray (because he was never given a ROTS figure in the modern line)

We discussed the carrying cases here awhile back, it could have been as simple as someone seeing that speculation and then posting a rumor on FB. I tend not put any weight in unsourced rumors, unless they're from a place like YF, and a SKU is attached, so the product is clearly in development. Especially considering the last time they brought them back resulted is a lot of shelf warming - I don't think it's a wise decision to replace the board games with carrying cases. Not to mention, they'd charge at least the same as the Monopoly release, which was $50. You can get an original Kenner case for around $25, so this would likely be a retail nightmare, let alone if they considered charging more than $50. They should be cautious about hurting overall sales for Retro, because it's been doing well, if a case were a dud, it could hurt future opportunities for expansion.

I wish they would make new versions of the old vinyl cases. I would rather have those than another Vader case.

I'm with everybody else, I'd most definitely prefer the classic vinyl cases---not only do they actually work like they're supposed to, but Hasbro could do what they do best, and milk the same thing over and over just by changing the art on the front. Aside from putting out the SW, ESB, and ROTJ cases, they could do Mando cases, Obi-Wan, whatever "new media" has a wave coming out!

If they do insist on doing a Vader case, I'd hope they have the sense to modify it slightly and put thin plastic panels that snap shut over each half in order to keep everything where it belongs.

I hate that I live in a world where the Retro Collection isn't an ongoing retail line like The Vintage Collection and Black Series.
YESSSSSSSS! I might even go down the road Adam Pawlus is on where I wish that the Retro Collection was the new "line of record"...but I'd be lying by using the word "might", because I absolutely, 100% wish that. Hasbro can have their cake and eat it too by ceasing to treat the RC as primarily/solely some nostalgia/novelty/boutique line and just treating these figures as TOYS; the nostalgia market gets catered to just by virtue of these things existing and looking and feeling how they look and feel.

Keep making TVC, keep making TBS, but make more of these more frequently, a mix of Kenner reissues and new figures from all sources and eras, and keep the price as close to the $10-12 range for as long as possible.

As I was messing around today with my vintage Imperial attack base, which doubled very nicely for Maldo Kreis, it got me thinking how easy it would be for Hasbro to reissue the old Mos Eisley playset and then as Kenner did back in the day, repaint it and release as a new environment (Droid factory/Jabbas Dungeon). Mos Eisley Cantina/ Nevarro Cantina (new paint scheme, new cardboard background) would be an excellent start giving a nice backdrop to display the bulk of the wave one Mandalorian retro.

That makes far too much sense. Therefore Hasbro will not do it.

I’d love to see the following made as Retros:

Dark Trooper (Mandalorian)
Cassian Andor Rings of Kafrene outfit (R1)
Blix (Andor)
Pyke soldier (BoBF)
Mimban Stormtrooper (Solo)
Mimban Mudtrooper (Solo)
Imperial Patrol Trooper (Solo)
Purge Trooper (Kenobi)
Cloud Car Pilot (ESB)
Rebel Fleet Trooper (ANH)
Captain Antilles (ANH)

Just off the top of my head!

Any figures from Solo would be most welcome! As well as those mentioned, I would love Han, Chewie (with unique bandolier) and Lando.

Absolutely would love a "Retro" Solo line as well as well as Rogue One too. I think both would look great with that Kenner Aesthetic feel. I know we have the 5 POA figures from the movie releases but the head sculpts don't work as well with the Kenner Retro line.

for Rogue One I'd love to get the following:

Jyn Erso
Cassian Andor
K-2SO
Blue Leader
Two-Tubes
Imperial Shore Trooper

Solo:

Han Solo - Mudtrooper
Mudtrooper
Lando Calrissian
Qira
Dryden Vos
Beckett

Therm Scissorpunch or bust!

If they're going to jump into any Disney era movies, we had better get some Kenner style aliens, because a pile of humans would result in pegwarmers in my opinion. It's really akin to Andor, in that human characters from RO and Solo just likely wouldn't fly off the pegs in a Retro assortment, especially when their basic movie figures (while good in many cases) just weren't the biggest hits. I really wish they'd test the market with a mixed assortment, covering a variety of media content for a wave, and determine how each does with the present consumer base.
