Recent Acquisitions - The Black Collection 3.75" (2013)

I was planning on going to the Goodwill near my local Big Lots, so I'll definitely stop by. Bonus points to cheap Chinese toys if they come with little cowboy hats.
Don't know about the cowboy hat, but I am certain that line has a small set with a horse and another with a camel. I'm sure you can rustle up a hat somewhere. Maybe a doll accessory from an arts and crafts store?

This reminds me of the time I had this pretty gross Gollum statue that came with the extended edition DVD set. I had it displayed on my top cabinet just to bug the guy in the next cube. I had it looking right at him from over the cube wall. Then, during the holidays I got a small Santa hat from ebay that was originally for a doll and decked out Gollum for the season.

Thanks for the tip. That's also a fantastic way to use a Gollum.

Scarif trooper came in the mail today. Nice looking figure. Going to use them as part of the regular Imperial army for some original triligy stories

Bit late to the party, I know, but finally found two of these in the wild.

(excuse the POTF Emperor lol)

Hey, POTF2 Palpatine is still pretty awesome after all this time. Why? He's simple. The Emperor was an old dude in a robe and that figure perfectly captured that without any needless frills. Modern Palpatine figures are theoretically "better," but they're too complex in construction, ruining the simple vibe of an old guy in creepy black robes.

Yeah definitely agree. POTF Emperor is still probably the best ROTJ Palatine we've gotten. With the possible exception of the new Force Link one but I have to see that on the shelves.

Force Link Palpatine buries the POTF2 version, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the single carded version. The Target 3-pack has a lot to offer even at 5POA as the Royal Guard is a much better diorama figure than the TVC or TBS version. Plus that set is destined for clearance any day now.

That would be true, but in the UK we didn't get that exclusive 3-pack yet. And I haven't even see the Force Link Emperor anywhere here.

I also received my order from EE the other day of two Praetorian Guards. Now I have 3. I think Hasbro will get along at some point to make the other two versions. Then I can have all 8 of the Guards.

It's a shame none of the 4" figures came with the halberd style weapon (the long polearm). I'm trying to figure out how I can customize a couple for that scale.

Yeah that would be cool. Maybe some combination of Lego bits, weapon handle from the cheaper 5 POA and paint can create some Praetorian gold. ;) I also didn't like how the helmets from the 5 POA figures sit so low on the neck ball of the SA Praetorian Guard so I was figuring a way to maybe use apoxie sculpt for a more permanent solution to add variety to the ranks.

I got a MOC Galen Marek this weekend for $15.00 at a comic shop; I thought that was worth mentioning, since he’s from a rare wave and typically goes for so much more! The other figs on their pegs were totally pedestrian.

Went to a Walmart that was out of my way and they still had quite a few BS 3.75" on the pegs for $7. Mostly Ashoka and Jyn Erso. Some TFA Han, TFA Leia, Lando, Ackbar and Finn. But in the back of 1 of the pegs there were 3 Death Troopers. Score!

If anyone is still looking for the last wave of the 3.75 inch start checking Ross. Between 2 stores I found the Prototype Boba Fett, Sandtrooper and the Tusken raider.

never been to a Ross until this week while traveling on business. They unfortunately did not have any at the two I visited.

They were 2.99!!!!
o-o

Got it, I see from the pic now their 'original' price isn't the same Walmart MSRP. I was expecting more like $5.99, but I wouldn't complain about that price either. :D Anyway, remains to be seen if the TFA Luke wave is going to go through the same 'fate'.

This is an open question to any Ross shoppers, have you ever seen a product carried at Ross like this show up at another discount chain too?

so essentially for us non-Ross states will we see these at Marshall’s or TJ Max?

I've seen it with GI Joe toys for sure. My theory is when a Target or Walmart sells off old stock they may not necessarily sell it all to one buyer. Maybe if Ross only takes a certain amount of product a TJ Maxx/Marshall's buyer may take the rest or vice versa.

I ended up with a Ponda Baba at my local Ross. I checked the entire toy section thoroughly moving every box to see what's behind. Ponda was the only figure I found. Still, for $2.99, I have no complaints.

Oh man, considering how hard a time I had finding the Scariff trooper this is a kick in the nuts! I wonder if the executioner stormtrooper/master luke/etc wave will show up there? And this is why walmart should not be allowed to have exclusives. They specifically requested to carry this line, and look how they handled it.

See! This is what I'm talking about. These figures should have never ended up at Ross. If Walmart would simply put the product out there it would sell. I never once saw this figure at any Walmart around me. They are clueless I tell you.

I remember passing on the 3.75" TBS Scariff Trooper when I saw a couple at an out-of-the-way Wal-mart in December 2017. I had spent a lot of $ on Christmas gifts that year, and just didn't want to deal with buying the figure(s). However, I regretted it soon after.

So, good to hear that it's showing up @ Ross. I may look for this at some point soon.

I may start looking at Marshalls as well. I typically see an overlap of the same merchandise between the two chains, but Marshall's maybe just a tad higher in pricing.
