Status - Rumour

According to the rumour list jedinews.co.uk have posted we'll be seeing an R5 droid figure in the near future. Nothing further atm, any ideas on what droid it could be?


Who's looking forward to this one?
 
Whether it's R5-X2, "Chopper" from Rebels, or a random Alliance/Yavin Briefing Room R5, I'm down for it--because if it's any of those, it's a NEW character/figure.

It's gotta be the one from the cancelled Droid Factory line right??? It just seems like the easiest cheapest thing to do since it's already been produced right??? Who knows, I thought I remember someone at Hasbro saying that the droids may come in some sort of battle pack during a Q&A after the cancellation announcement!!! Either way, it's always cool to get droids!!!
 
You may be right because the droid is listed as a refresh on that list. I doubt they would all of a sudden repack R5-D4 at this point and since the BAD droid was made a while back, they might consider it a refresh for the factory to know which droid they mean.
 
I'm up for any new Astromech droid. I started this Star Wars collection for my son 2 years ago, and the droids are the only ones he plays with.

That's what I'm thinking / hoping. It's a very cool looking droid.

I really hope it's R5-X2. I've wanted him since I got the episode I visual dictionary in 1999. Also, by releasing R5-X2,I believe it just about completes the prequel R2 units.
 
I definitely want R5-X2 and hope that it is him. We're a long way from being able to complete Jabba's spectator box, but he would be a cool addition nonetheless.
 
I forgot about R5-K6, but still my vote is for it being R5-X2 then maybe a K6 reissue as a 2nd choice for this mystery R5
 
I know I'm going way more obscure, but there are a couple R5s from the OT that I'd still like to see.

And then there are the versions of R5-K6 - the one that was issued in the Scramble on Yavin BP more resembles the one that can be seen on the Death Star. There is one in the background of the Yavin briefing that has the head of R5-K6, but a white-based body:

Frankly, ANY OT Astromech repaint would be most welcomed.

Even though it's a virtual certainty that this is R5-X2.

I also hope it's a new one, but I hope we can see another EE Astromech pack (or even another like the Wal-Mart Royal Starship droids pack) in the future with 3-4 new astros and a repack (preferably BAD sculpt) of R5-K6 for all of those who missed out on it.
 
In the list that was found on Hasbro's website last year there was a listing for a "SW R5 G19 - A7261". Doallyn is A7262 so it is almost certainly this droid. That name isn't any know droid's name so it probably will be one of the unnamed ones.
 
^wow, I forgot about that list. I just found it again and there is an ''R5 droid" and R5-G19...both have same A#...intersting. If I counted other figs w/ "A" #s, it was shy of 18...interesting indeed. If that list is legit...EU Fans'll be pleased
 
R5-G19? I guess I'll have to hit Wookieepedia for that one. I really hope this is R5-X2. As I said before, that would pretty much complete the PT astromechs. There's still plenty of OT astromechs to do (R2-A5, for starters).
 
Well considering they still need to get two missing BAD Astromechs out, the logical choice would be on of them. But with Hasbro you never know till the end.

Personally I'm hoping for R5-X2 so we can finally stop asking and waiting! Otherwise my choice would be for the Home One R5 Droid!

how true. seems like there's equal support/reasoning for this r5 to be -x2 or -g19....maybe -g19 will be name for that r5 on the Home 0ne
 
I would like to see a rerelease of R5-K6 but I'd be just as happy to see R5-X2. What is R5-G19? Any one know a color scheme?

A few R5 units from the Clone Wars could be cool to see released.

R5-P8, be a cool little droid to see made.

A hope from out in left field though is R5-U8. I like the color scheme.

Another cool looking R5, R5-S9.
 
I too would like to see R5-K6 return. I'm not an astromech completist by any means but that was a cool R5. Love the red.

Maybe... But an astromech with a rifle mounted to its head and cool paint scheme. I bet it would sell! I bet most people would pick it up on the simple fact of appearance even without knowing the source. Well except for the OT loyalists who hate anything EU... (not meant to be an insult just an observation).
 
was hoping this might be a binocular-eyed R5 (like the blue Star Tours R5), but yeah...it will be Jabba's R5-X2 :)
 
Well that's kind of sad, the most important ANH Droid right now is R2-A5 IMO!

It will be interesting to see who it actually is, maybe they pulled another rename?

thought it would've been R5-X2...nice to see some Jedi Astros being made...mos-def need this ;)

Confirmation that Hasbro does pay attention to the wishlist polls from this site. There is no way we would be getting this figure if it hadn't made it onto the poll in 2011.
 
Excellent - I like any & all OT droids (especially R2 & R5 units), and will definitely be getting this.
 
They're paying attention and i'm glad to get a unreleased variant from the OT. This being said, it didn't cost Hasbro too much ressources to produce yet another R5 unit.
 
ROTJ Rebel Briefing R5 unit FTW! Just the fact that it's OT is AWESOME!

And yeah, I'll take a tiny little bit of satisfaction that he was in the wishlist polls!
 
Kind of disappointing a little known astro is taking a single carded slot. Seems a better choice for a battlepack
