Please use this thread to talk about the R5-D4 Gamestop/ThinkGeek exclusive figure that'll be issued in the 40th Anniversary vintage packaging line.

Was there a picture revealed of this? I assume it's just a repaint of their recent R5-K6 mold.
 
I'm sure it is a repaint but I don't care. R5 is my favorite vintage figure and I am thrilled about this release. Maybe they can repackage Greedo to give us one more of the "next 9" wave of Kenner figures.
 
I'm fine with it being a repaint and quite frankly they would be dumb not to utilize that over and over. I'm interested. Although it would be more interesting if they added another Jawa and kept it at $20. Ha!
 
I'm really glad this will be na EE exclusive. Might give me a shot at getting two - one to open, one to keep carded, since I have no intention of buying any of the re-pack figures.
 
The attempt at weathering on this looks ridiculous. They didn't leave the Sandtroopers mostly clean with a few spots. I'll stick with the model.

Yakface just posted on Twitter that R5 is actually a GameStop/ ThinkGeek exclusive. (Not Entertainment Earth)
 
I'd love to see a Jawa and droid together but doesn't make sense for the 40th cards. I like this carded release and a sucker for any on vintage cards. But would love to see a later boxed Jawa and droid. Doubt it but would be great.
 
Why a GS exclusive, this means every card back is going to look like s@@t! Would have been better as an EE exclusive. Peeps at GS could care less about products like this in their stores, and quiet frankly most of these employees in my area are a@@holes...
 
I really hope this, Jawa and DSC are going to be released in normal boxed packaging. I like the 40th anniversary cards but I don't want them in my collection when all the other boxes (red boxes I mean) are the same and they'll just be 3 odd ones in this style
 
Disappointed there isn't a motivator piece for it, but figured as such when K6's dome had no removable panels.
 
Looking forward to getting R5-D4, a worthy choice to release.

Too true, I never forgiven them for the handling of the Stormtrooper Commander from the Star Wars Unleashed game. The employees knew nothing about it. I really hope GS gives their employees a heads up on this one. I can tell this is going to be handled poorly.

they will be 3 standouts in what would be a normal boxed collection. The boxes have no life to them. More carded the better.

Hasbro stated in their round table interview that the new figures from this line will be coming boxed at a later date, so no worries. Not sure if this applies to R5-D4, as he is an exclusive, but so was 3-P0.
 
Either way, definitely want at least one of these!! An old fave.

Will these possibly be up for sale on Hasbro Toy Shop site at one point?

I'd be careful about trusting what Hasbro says. Carbonite Han was supposed to show up later according to Hasbro but I'm still waiting.

R5-D4 going to Gamestop is a huge bummer. Gamestop is scalper city around my area. I've never found any of their exclusives in store. Even when they are in stock, they are all being held for a "customer" who needs ten of the same item.
 
Hmm...that is true, but we have already seen evidence of the Sand People boxed which I believe isn't scheduled to be released until after these. Time will tell I guess, I'm not holding out for boxed version either way. If I see them, I am grabbing a Jawa, Sand People, Death Squad Commander, Stormtrooper, R5-D4, and a Leia first chance I get. Oh yeah, and the Legacy Pack with Vader.
 
GS is the worst. They wont tell you when a new shipment is due and they rarely restock. GS will handle this poorly; to even get a somewhat not damaged card prepare to pa on Feebay.

To be fair this figure is a stretch for 20 bucks, at least R2 had tons of accessories. This guy has nothing, and the weathering is very subpar.

The vintage box is going to be the biggest selling point, sucks for collectors who like them boxed.

Great... Hopefully they don't do that to any of the other new to market figures that haven't already been previewed in boxed form.
 
I just hope this is not super difficult to find.

This seems like it could potentially become a sought after exclusive.
 
What the hell were they thinking? You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Gamestop employees. There will be a lot of back door dealings and holding them in the back for "friends". If you see a ton of these turn up on ebay, you can bet most of them never made it to the sales floor.

Yeah I hate Gamestop, even to buy games. I may pass on this one, but my old POTF figure that I had when I was a kid broke and I don't have any other figures of this guy....
 
The disappointing part is I'll bet that EE would already have a preorder link up and running. They are very good about that.

Well, they could have at least added a pop up motivator.... or a secret rocket launcher ;)
