If anyone that ordered theTarget Droids exclusives ends up with Buyer’s Remorse, I was buried in work and totally forgot about the Pre-Order. I’m looking for the 6” as well as one of each of the 3.75”.

All I know is that there are now two figure molds I'd pay someone to go to Hasbro and destroy, this R2 and that barrel chested Endor Han!
If I ever see these two molds used again I'm going to have a freaking cow!

Not very likely I'll get one of these Artoos. I like the forthcoming Droids Threepio and Boba Fett but this one just doesn't do it for me.

What is this R2 mold from? I’m not a connoisseur.
The poop-tastic "Bartoo" mold (VC25). Hasbro once heralded it as the ultimate astromech figure, putting it above the G9 and B.A.D. molds. They must have been off their meds when they made that comment. The ONLY thing it has going for it, is that perhaps it's a bit better scaled with standard 3.75" humanoid figures, but that's debatable. Everything else about the figure is garbage, especially the highly flawed "action feature".

Well really has Hasbro ever delivered the perfect anything in TVC or Black series. I'd say no. It's almost like they go out of their way not to. On a side note, I'll take any OT Era Figure so I'm in all of these droids figures.

I suppose I'll be the contrarian then... since I think this is my favorite R2 mold. I even bought 2 of the EE 6packs and love them. I suppose its the scale and the the arms etc. I do have the 2004 VOTC sensor scope RoTJR2 as well carded but not loose so I have yet to compare it. But I like R2 units better when they have attachments etc.

Re: Artoo - This is the droid I’m looking for!

Srsly - of the three Droids figures, this is the one I want most, as I plan to keep carded and like R2’s coin the most.(y):giggle:

I guess it really is subjective then, because I feel there have been few instances of perfection. Bom Vimdin for example is one of the best figures ever made in 3.75" scale!

Agreed their is some very very good ones. What I meant was you get perfect this and perfect that then bad articulation on the same figure. Others you may get the articulation and then you have other issue's. Say like the Last Luke EP6 Jedi VC that came out with new face tech. It looks great and then you get monster hands from 2010 etc etc.

Can't help but feel like the TCW R2 might have been a more suitable figure to base this on.
That was my thought. I still wouldn't really want this version of an astromech in my collection (or it would be a very low priority) but that Clone Wars version would have been a better choice for those who do want it based on the paintscheme alone.

I never liked TCW molds for Atro Droids, they just looked too blocky IMO. There are perfectly good Astro molds in the basic 3.75" scale lineup to use without having to go outside the line, so I don't feel that would have been an option in the first place.

The bad sculpt almost makes it work better as a stylized Droids figure. It’s okay. It’ll have to do.

It almost feels odd to have these show up at very different times being that they were announced/listed together, granted they aren't part of a typical wave and each figure has a dedicated case. I just really wanted them to arrive around the same time so I can get one more Pre-order off of the books, because it seems that every time I mark one off 2-3 more take its place! lol

You know what, I think I changed my mind and agree with you on this. That animated style does more accurately portray R2's look from the show and since it's a one-off and would stay carded I could live with it as a novelty item. I feel it would definitely have looked far batter than the mold they went with and hope that particular one like the Endor Han is lost or destroyed very soon, I am so tired of seeing those two molds reused! It was a travesty that the EE set contained that R2 mold but to use it again here is an epic fail, and a sign that those three molds are indeed in the same factory.

So true, and that's the drawback of infusing older molds with updated head sculpt/photo real amongst newer figures as those issues really stand out.

Hi Peeps - Merry Christmas!

Just preordered R2, with a street date of 17/01 indicated.

Looking forward to getting this!

(y)
When I 1st read this I was like...Finally! But then remembered you're in NZ, not USA. But oddly enough, that is approx time frame YF reported for USA so....🤞

From reading some of the 3PO topic, it sounded like the coin was a bit of a let-down.

I'm considering forgoing these three figures, since I'll probably never find them in store anyway (and couldn't preorder in time). I'm more likely to be able to make my own versions using repro cardbacks and factory lunch specials.

No I believe it's the U.S. who's the outlier where we write the month before the day, likely the same reason we utilize miles, feet, inches versus kilometer, yards centimeters etc. in an attempt to differentiate from the Motherland after the great migration.

The United States actually borrowed the way dates are written from the United Kingdom who used it before the 20th century and then later changed it to match Europe. Here is an example;

Gah, friggen thing has been on pre-order so long the card I had used has actually expired. Just got an e-mail Target tried to do their monthly pre-auth and canceled the order because of it.

I'm sure they'll be around, still frustrating.

That's BS, they should at least allow you to update the card info. Considering they give you the option to accept new delivery times when an item is delayed and seems this would be a no brainer on pre-orders now that they are so far out.

^ another reason why these extended preorder windows need to cease. After getting preauth holds 2 or 3 times a month for 7 months the on my mando retro wave order, I decided I'll never preorder via target w/o a g.c balance ready to go. this reminds me, I should get another target g.c. next time I go to krogers and have it ready in my acct for next preorder, plus earn gas/fuel points at krogers doing so.😁

Right? That was my feeling, how about giving me 24 hours to update it or something.

Not nessessarily the case above, but I wonder if some cancellations that's occurred w/ target for preorders is their frequent pre -auth-ing cc's and that has sent a red flag to some issuing banks and therefore cancelled.
Again, another reason Hasbro need to stop w/ long term preorders.
