After getting the Vintage black dress figure recently, I immediately preferred that face sculpt/paint app to all of the other Amidala figures so I did some minor work to pull that head onto some others. The main updates are just swapping out the original heads for the newer ball-jointed head and neck, and then some paint updates.

The Coruscant figure took a lot of whittling on both the new head and the older hairpiece to get them to fit together, but once they did I think the newer face works really well. The original sculpt still really holds up well, and adding some paint updates to the hairpiece and robe made them both pop a little more I think. I also adjusted the legs so she stands at the correct height and the robe touches the ground instead of floating.

The Theed figure was pretty easy to put together. The original figure’s crown pulls off pretty easily, so I just had to shave down the hairpiece on the new head and put them together. I used embroidery floss for the ponytail in the back so that the head can maintain its full range of motion, and other than that I just repainted the whole thing to cover up the plasticky light red color. I also replaced the hands because the originals were pretty large and clunky looking.

This one just got some very minor updates. I boiled and reshaped the neck and the lower skirt to fix up her posture, and then I replaced the dangling part of the headdress with braided thread so it was more in scale, and also touched up the paint on the gold headpiece.

Using the same head for all of these makes them all interchangeable, for better or for worse.
