Not sure how we missed it but the folks over at JTA have posted a QnA with Hasbro which confirms an ANH Leia isn't far off for the 6" line:

"Princess Leia (ANH) is coming in The Black Series 6" line."

Who's looking forward to this one?

Happy, till I see the soft goods mess of the final production figure :)

Looking forward to seeing this. For such an iconic costume its amazing how many years it has taken Hasbro to finally revisit it, even if it is a different scale this time. Hopefully this figure will turn out better than the slave version did.

I'm not opposed to soft goods, I don't want her bottom half just being a hunk of plastic for $20

^ and yes I realize the whole thing is plastic xD I do think soft goods could work and she look better and be more articulated though, but hey that's just my opinion

I will be looking forward to this figure when it is officially confirmed as officially being released rather than being teased about given how the fluid nature of the hobby may result in the figure not moving beyond conceptual art/pre-production sculpts.

However, not to be outdone by the other members of Rebelscum who have somehow acquried the art of predicting the future I shall say this: Idiot Hasbro! You ruined this figure with your use of soft goods. The material in no way resembles the silken garment that Princess Leia wore. You've ruined the aesthetics with this either too tight or too loose fabric that does no justice to the figure. Also, the facial sculpt looks nothing like Carrie Fisher. The figure looks more like Michael Jackson than the heroine featured in A New Hope. God-dammit Hasbro you've given her the wrong blaster since you packaged her with the E-11 and not the DDC Defender sporting blaster! And what is up with the skin tone of the figure? Did she just come back from a holiday in Ibiza? To top it all off you got her hair wrong too!!! Grrrrr....

soft goods working in this line are as likely as peace in the middle east. i'd rather a hunk of good looking plastic, than a fraying mess of ill-fitting soft goods. neach to his own, i know, but it's been proven time and time again that soft goods doesn't work for this line, unless it's something minor like Maul's skirt pieces.

I'd like to see them give the soft goods a shot with this figure. They can always get better with cutting and sewing the material. I just can't imagine buying a straight-legged Leia in this scale.

I don't get the time and time again argument here xD Darth Maul's SG skirt is great in my opinion, Boba's cape thingy is pretty good, my Slave Leia's skirt isn't fraying at all, Anakin's soft goods are great from what I hear and the loose pic posted in the Darth Vader thread looks pretty good to me as well. I have some faith in the soft goods, haha

Especially if we were to get that instead ^ That would be an insta-pass

She will probably not come with outer robe like they did with the Jedi.

I want them to concentrate on a great head sculpt and paint application as the top priority. I don't really want the outer robe, but would love it if they included a set of hands to work with a blaster and an additional more normal/natural set of hands. (hey, we got 2 sets of hands with Han) I would prefer at least soft goods on the bottom half, but the face is the most important to me.

In my opinion there has never been a good figure of ANH Leia, and I'm not sure there even can be. I'm interested to see what they come up with, but this is one figure I can't get excited about without seeing it first.

Instead of swappable hands or heads, they ought to do swappable lower bodies: one fully articulated under soft goods and one as a single piece of immobile plastic. They made two lower bodies for 3.75" Slave Leia, so it's not unprecedented.

Yeah, but then, they didnt do that with BS slave Leia (and the shoulda) so I cant see them doing it with ANH Leia...
I for one, hated the half plastic half cloth look honestly... I'd rather see her with soft goods.

I'd probably prefer fabric, at least for the skirt part. I want to be able to pose her legs. For the hood, it could either be fabric or plastic and removable perhaps.

This is a crucial release in the line, and I really hope Hasbro can pull off a great-looking cloth dress for her. I really don't like the mix and match as seen on some smaller releases.

I have a feeling they'll go for the cloth skirt piece so that she can have articulated legs and leg movement. Either way I'm sure Hasbro will screw it up.

I may be interested in this item, depending on how it looks. I passed on the slave leia, and now its all I see in the stores.

No confidence in their ability to pull this off. I can think of a couple of ways it could be done, but none of those ideas match their production model on this line.

We're doomed. :\

With this line, the design team should have stuck with the sculpted capes etc model first introduced with maul. Soft goods for a line like this one is as ridiculous as rooted hair for motuc POP.

I posted a link in the Chewbacca thread from a guys FB page, in the picture, he has a Leia custom!!! It's not that great, but it's also not too bad either, the soft goods look ok in my opinion, and seems to show that it can be done without looking completely horrible!!! I guess it's just going to come down to quality of material and proper execution!!! Personally I'm always a fan of SG over plastic, however, there are many characters that just "stand around" and I'd be completely happy to have those figures made without SG!!! In the case of this figure, I'm hoping for SG, but I would rather it be plastic, if the SG are going to turn out terrible!!!

I think we need a molded hood up head for this release.

I agree, soft good hoods rarely look good in my opinion, they just don't sit correctly. I think the dress should be soft goods for the ANH Leia, to allow for full leg articulation. They really need to choose a light material, though, so that it sits properly on the figure.

The material needs to be soft and silky like Leia's skin, not coarse like the sand....ugh

If Hasbro screw up, I just hope that one of the Japanese companies bother with ANH Leia. Best bet is probably GSC, whose Figma line typically features female figures anyway.

I do feel somewhat optimistic with Hasbro though. I didn't buy Darth Maul, but I admit his figure is one of the best to date, and he was probably one of the hardest to engineer. If they put even half the amount of effort and innovation into an ANH Leia, we should get something passable.

Hope this isn't a stupid question but I was able to get the SDCC Jabba from HTS. I was wondering how to scale the 6 inch Leia is to that set?

One of the most horrible Leia figures ever made lol Sculpting and detailing have improved since that one was released so maybe Hasbro can do her justice if they went with a plastic robe release. Personally I'd rather a cloth release :)

That indeed was the absolute worst. I wanted so much to collect that line, but the sculpts were terrible and yes, Leia's was the worst.

At this point, they owe it to the fans to finally come out with a decent Leia release. (IMO) The best (ANH) release as a toy figure, has been the vintage 1978 release. Please Hasbro, don't use the same sculpt for slave Leia. Her head is positioned oddly on her neck. Give us something decent for a Leia figure.

Not to mention the fact that the Slave Leia head sculpt bears absolutely no resemblance to Carrie Fisher. It looks more like Leann Rimes to me, which is terrifying.

I can't believe you think it doesn't look like Carrie Fisher. It's probably the best likeness for her I've ever seen in an action figure, although you do have to see past the poor paint job.

Actually, I agree with this, but it does depend on the paint per figure. Some look horrible. Again for me, the biggest issue aside from paint is just the position of the head on the neck, which looks very weird.
