Please use this thread to talk about the slightly improved Princess Leia figure issued in the 40th Anniversary vintage packaging line.

Thoughts on this Vintage release?

Glad to see the improved head sculpt, ridiculous that this couldn't have been addressed before launch of the last one. People complained about the prototype when it first hit. This is probably one of the fastest redo's in Hasbro Star Wars history, outside of running changes in paint.

I'm annoyed. Wish I never got the BS one. These costs $30 here in Canada and now, I have to fork out another $30 for a new headsculpt. I'm actually leaning towards skipping this one. If only they gor it right the first time or if they just held back on the BS release

Hasbro should offer a trade in. It’s ridiculous that they fixed the head sculpt and expect us to buy the same figure again.

It's a better headsculpt but still needs the eyebrows redoing. I look forward to seeing repaints.

It would have been another buy even without the vintage card. So much better. About to see a bunch of boxed versions on eBay with cheaper prices.

I hope they make it to ebay. If people just box them up and get refunds at the stores these things will be clogging pegs and cheating us out of future releases. I am already afraid this solid case of repacked rebel trash means it will be hard to find the cool Imperials or the Jawa and Tusken in stores.

I managed to pre-order this one because I don't trust my local retailers getting these on time. Just going to roll the dice with the paint apps, which I may or may not regret. We'll see.

To anyone who got the 40th Leia figure. How does the paint apps look on this one? The one from the Revan wave looked pretty decent from the ones I saw in the wild at Gamestop. I just wondered if the apps were improved.

Got mine today. Paint apps are good. Card was mint. I'll admit, I was wrong about the head sculpt but in my defense, when I posted it was the same head I had only seen the preorder images (see Dorkside) which showed the same head with slightly better paint.

Would you happen to have both? If you do, can you do a side by side comparison pictures? I'm really bummed about needing another ANH Leia so I'd love to see some side by sides just to convince myself that I need the new one.

I'm still debating on whether to get one of her, two of her, or none of her. I'm pretty confident the stores will have them in April, and if not online will always still be an option. Not rushing to preorder any of these just yet until I've made up my mind

StarWars.com: And is that a new head sculpt I see on Leia?
Steve Evans: Yes it is! We are always striving for improvement. Sometimes we hit a likeness the very first time and sometimes we look back and think, “If we had only tweaked that here or moved that there.”

But in this instance, we really felt we could go back and subtly improve the final product. We knew we were planning the 40th anniversary card backs and felt that was an appropriate place to update it.

The feedback we have received on the new Leia sculpt has been wonderfully positive. It just goes to show that a subtle change here and there can make all the difference. We are all very happy with her look. Especially when we see how she being photographed by the artists that participated and submitted their #hasbrotoypics.

Yeah, it had absolutely nothing to do with the outcry and ridicule on SoMe etc., that made you change the headsculpt, right? Steve? xD

The Fwoosh channel on YouTube just put a review up. Looks drastically better. Here's a screenshot.

Looks a lot better. Slightly irritated that I just paid £23 for the bad version though.

I feel your pain, I am in the same baot of paying full price for the monkey face right before this one was revealed.

I also fear we will see a lot of people returning the old one to stores now that this one is out, causing a pileup on the pegs and keeping stores from ordering wave 2 with all the cool new figures.

In this case, I'm glad I waited. I had all but given up the black series, and I'm only purchasing the original 12 reissues in the hopes they will continue vintage cards for Empire and Jedi. Itd be foolish of them to not continue with the vintage card backs. They have a ton of figures they can reissue/rehash, and while I feel for collectors who purchased them the first time around, it'll be the only way they get me to shell out $20 for their take on star Wars. I'd have figured with Disney taking over their budget wouldn't be a factor. SH Figuarts is getting my $$ as they are cranking out the Star Wars figures of my dreams.

They've already confirmed the vintage card backs are only for the 12 figures in the 40th line. After this, they will return to a boxed format and the three new figures from the 12 will also be released in boxes.

I'm glad for once, since I do like the 4th anniversary boxes, I like the other style box better. Since u can open the box, play with the toy, and put back on the box when ur done, just like when u got it at the store, better kids friendly too, just like the Figuarts boxes. They are much better, u don't have to break the box to get the toy out, since I like to keep the boxes, but I do play with my kids and the toys. I collect the toys, not the boxes, the 40th anniversary boxes are nice, and if I see them at the regular retail stores will get them, I don't really need the old ones at all, my Leia looks fine, and have a few of each one, including R2, only missing the new ones, DSC, Jawa and Sand Ppl.
