Jedi Insider has posted a rumor of upcoming Ponda Baba and Dr. Cornelius Evazan figures. Both should be regular releases and will be in the same wave as the Jedi training flashback Luke and Leia.

You would think ANH, but given that Hasbro’s doing a soft Rogue One celebration this year, it really could go either way.

Regardless, I learned recently that George filmed Obi-wan decapitating Ponda Baba, so I’m hoping he comes with easily separable parts!
 
This wave seems like it'd be better suited for a wave of two-packs rather than single figures. Imagine if one becomes harder to find than the other!
 
While not definitive, yakface has the upcoming 'code-named' BS figures listed in two blocks. The first has eight and the second seven, so it could be that the two waves (if that's what it indicates) after the Bo-Katan wave could be almost completely composed of single-packed, unique figures.
 
2 classic characters, they’d both be welcomed in the 6” line.
 
I'm almost betting they'll be tied in for Rogue One. Makes no difference to me they're going on the Tatooine shelf.

Kinda hope Greedo gets Archive, already got one but would like to get another 1-2. Maybe they'll tweak the eye color too.
 
Greedo definitely needs an Archive release, although the completely incorrect eye shape (they should be round, not oval) bugs me a bit. Weird oversight.

Agreed. I can see Disney insisting they come on Rogue One cards due to royalties rights.

I kind of doubt there's different royalties depending on the packaging. Actor likeness perhaps.

I just figured they would be put on them to add more to the RO releases.

Don't they still have to still pay royalties to Lucas for stuff created under his watch and is why so many of the classic iconic designs were just slightly altered in the sequel movies?

I'd guess Rogue One, purely so they can be repacked next year in ANH packaging for the 45th, maybe a cantina set for SDCC like heroes of endor, was hoping we'd some more new hope stuff this year (especially hoping for archive redos of Ben/Luke/Leia/Han), but my two favorite Cantina guys though, can't wait!
 
Bring these on. Let's have some more classic OT aliens and Cantina figures. The classic OT aliens are actually the best from the Star Wars universe.

having just watched ANH again this past sunday after not seeing it in a bit, im really glad that these two are getting recognition. i REALLY hope ponda has a sort of removable arm ; something similar to his TVC figure would be sweet(with a better face, though).

Evazon, i dont think gets talked about enough as far as significance. he and Ponda were at the bar when Luke got reprimanded for bringing his droids into a cantina they were not welcome at; all the locals had to know this so Evazon could read that luke was a fresh faced farm boy. when Luke squeezed his way to the bar without acknowledging them, he took quick advantage of that slight and provoked skywalker. Evs and Ponda knew he would be an easy target and they already knew he had droids and a speeder to steal. had Obi wan not been there to cut someones freaking arm off, Luke might have been killed right there and 3po and R2 would end up on the black market.

-another observation about that scene : Kenobi dismembers Ponda boba and instantly shrugs off the incident and cruises with chewy to the booth to talk business. doesnt say anything to the bartender or the bystanders, just like "okay, Chewy, was it? where were we? you have a ship? i have credits."
after Han kills Greedo, he atleast tosses the bartender a coin and apologizes.

No, that’s a weird rumor started in the Star Wars blogosphere. Disney bought all of Lucasfilm outright for a fixed price, with no add-on royalty clauses. There were some goofy distribution issues related to “A New Hope” because 20th Century Fox financed it, but those are moot now that the Mouse bought Fox.
 
Will Ponda come with his correct pistol after 43 years?

Unfortunately this line is iffy on blaster accuracy, but Dengar's is close enough at least.

I always grew up calling him "Buttcheeks" - I never knew he actually had a name until a few years ago. I suppose I'd pick up Ponda Baba just for the old nostalgic laughs haha

All accessories and extras are visible in packaging with BS. The severed arm option would have been a nice option...

I won't really miss them, I personally think they look pretty lame. Never used them on my 3 3/4" version and I wouldn't use them here either. Severed arm would have been nice though, I agree.

Relatable, sadly.....just be careful. Collecting can get out of hand with the easily accessible Credit cards.

Walrusman (aka Ponda Boba) would have been a homerun hit had they bothered giving him a body other than the skinny ass Luke. Kinda bummed that's what they went with.

I keep forgetting there are new collectors that start up with Black Series, or some who just missed the figure the first time around. Although I can't see how anyone would have missed him. Greedo did hang around for quite a while. One of the worst peg warmers of the line to date. Then, in all of Hasbro's infinite wisdom, they sent him out in a two pack with Han as a TRU exclusive. So for well over a year, you could walk into any TRU and find him hanging on the pegs and in a box on an end cap.

I do like that you can see other Rodians in ANH. It's just weird they all dress the same.
 
This figure is gonna be everywhere in another six months, right?

I missed the Dorkside preorder for the single pack. (now sold out.)
This is like, the ONE figure I NEED from this wave.

If my Black Series experience purchasing history is any example, all signs point to yes?
