yea, not feeling this at all. I guess they are trying to offer a wide range for Bad Batch fans which is nice. Easy pass for me, even tho I am collecting almost all theother Bad Batch figures.

I honestly have no info on the character, so how they're getting a Female Clone from Jango's DNA seems odd to me. Or why it would even happen is beyond me, obviously there was some tinkering done to DNA alter it. But why, and why is she the very last Clone? Are they not done in pods as previously stated in lore, so it seems weird to only have one left without pod mates. Guess they're trying to play on the unique factor. It also appears to come off as yet another attempt by LFL to appeal to a certain demographic or force it into an aspect that doesn't even make sense. perhaps after I complete the series I'll understand it all.

I think it's very likely that this character will became someone important in a future installment of the Franchise, if in fact she survives this show. If she does it will be interesting see where she ends up being that she's a Clone and shouldn't survive too long, unless accelerated aging was also altered. Seems to me that this type of thing would have been newsworthy discussion across the Galaxy.

It tough to gauge a figure's popularity before anyone really gets to know the character, she might become someone people really like thus drive sales. So it's good thing this figure won't ship until after the show is done. However, if she's forgettable character it won't bold well for sales. I like the concept simply for her energy bow, but who knows she might be a good base for Cindel if anyone wants TBS version of that character.

This just in, from Hasbro HQ: "As per 2022, our Star Wars toy lines will be limited to Jawas, Ugnaughts, and other races/creatures/droids about half the size of humanoids. And The Black Series collection will be renamed to Lack Series Collection, in an effort to save the environment."
 
Man, reading this thread and finding it hard to believe there are people out there who say Star Wars fandom has a problem with sexism.

As for the figure, I wouldn't have been particularly interested before watching the first episode of the show. But having done that...I'm intrigued.

Spoilers for The Bad Batch episode Aftermath: The extended first episode makes it clear Omega is the fifth and last remaining clone from the program that aimed to create "desirable genetic mutations" in clone batches. Pushing for genetic mutations explains the different sex -- she also displayed an instinctive ability with a blaster at the end of the episode. She's Omega not because she's the last clone but the last of the mutation program. This is the information that Tech had / deduced; more is afoot, as hinted at by the Kaminoans saying they were going to keep undefined things under wraps from Tarkin. Considering there are only five left, the presumption is a bunch of the clones either died from the mutations or were killed off for not being desirable enough. I assume more of that story will come out as the series progresses, as will more information about the process that led to Omega's and the main Bad Batch crew's creation.

Is all that going to pay off and be interesting? Dunno. Will the character be a cool addition to the show or an anchor? Dunno that either. But I'm not writing this one off right away.

I agree with your assessments. I hadn't thought too much about the name Omega until reading your comment, but I think you're on to something. I don't want to give away spoilers for the show, but I feel like the promo material showing the 5 members we've already seen and not showing her may have been selectively misguiding like keeping Baby Yoda a surprise. Of course an adorable puppet and an animated character aren't gonna have the same effect, but I think not giving away much about this show was a smart move too.
 
Glad to see Bad Batch getting such strong product support, especially compared to Mando Season 2 and Clone Wars Season 7. At this rate, we're looking to have the full cast within a few months of the show.
Not sure why everyone is so quick to assume Omega will be a pegwarmer- from the first episode, she seems like a fun and entertaining character, and I'm without doubt going to pick up the figure. Not sure where the comparisons to Holdo come in, there aren't any similarities I can spot, whether in character or appearance. The bigger issue is her size, but I think that will be comparable to Kuill and Teebo, so not unusual. Plus she'll likely come packed with the large energy bow. I'm most interested in how the headsculpt will be handled, and whether Hasbro will actually incorporate any of Temuera's features.

I like the Omerga character based on the first episode. Way way better than most kid targeted tag along characters in pretty much any toy related series.
 
I haven’t finished off the first episode yet but From what I’ve seen I’m not overly keen on a figure of this character just yet.
 
It's too early for me to say whether I will like this character or not. I'm glad the figure isn't coming until later. Hopefully by the time it's for sale, I'll know whether I want it or not.

My initial impression is favorable. I like Omega better than I initially liked either Ahsoka or Ezra (both of whom I came to like). However I share the concern some people have, given the state of Disney era Lucasfilm, that this character could turn out to be obnoxious.

Anyway, if we're getting a Black Series figure of a child, maybe we'll finally get Episode I Anakin?

I'm honestly more interested in Omega than the rest of the squad.
 
This character will probably be one of those people hate now and love her later types. Ahsoka and Ezra come to mind. But hopefully she comes with some accessories or something key to the show.
 
I TRIED watching all of the bad batch stuff, including the Clone Wars stuff. If not for making Wrecker overpowered and their answer to Marvel's Thing, I would rate it as really good. We as kids hated overpowered characters so much we had a term for it. whenever someone would do something like that we would just yell "SARGE!" after the ludicrous things he did, lke unscrewing grates with his fingernail, and beating up just about everyone.
Almost had it right, but Nerf Wrecker please.
 
Good one to have, I don't expect many who want the whole crew would pass up on her given what the first episode set up. Very interested in seeing where she goes.

I wasn't going to get any Bad Batch stuff in the first place though.
 
I’m gonna reserve judgment til I see the actual plastic. But if it looks good I can’t see myself passing on a part of the team. Before I saw the episode, based on the trailer, I thought great, they had to shoehorn a little kid in cause it’s Disney. But having seen the episode, the character is a lot more intriguing. I should have given team Filoni the benefit of the doubt
 
My main fear with Omega has nothing to do with her being a girl. Instead, I'm wary of Lucasfilm throwing its storytelling mechanics behind explaining away the Snoke/Palpatine plot invented for IX, i.e., cloning experimentation to create force-sensitives that would ultimately be capable of serving as a host for a dead person. I'm aware that cloning is all over the EU, and even in the Thrawn trilogy, but specifically I'm leery of Omega serving as an apology for the crap storytelling of the ST. For example, there must be a reason why Dr. Pershing in the Mandalorian is wearing a Kaminoian symbol on his suit, and it has to be because the Imperials discovered the success of the Omega experiment and are intending to exploit it to reinstall a force-sensitive head of the Empire. I just don't think following the completely eyeroll inducing plot of the ST to drive the plot of a show like this is a fruitful path for them to take.

Secondarily, I'm also anticipating the thinkpieces comparing Omega and Rey, saying no one complained that Omega had a perfect shot on the first time picking up a weapon... so why isn't she a Mary Sue too?!? Well, it was cheesy to me. Crosshair shouldn't have become so immediately inept just because he puts on imperial garb, and Omega saving the day is pretty facile. Not to mention, didn't we already try the "first time in hyperspace" awe with Han Solo?

Maybe there's plot development for Omega that hasn't been crafted to serve the storyline of the sequels, but I'm not sure I can envision it at this point.

The criticism for this character is due to it's bland design and being a child having to anchor a pivotal part in a war. It's not that difficult to see that as constructive criticism albeit on the fence of personal taste and expectation.

And from what I recall, most of the members here that criticized this character, like myself, have other female characters on our figure wish list. (Still waiting for Tallon and Secura :p , hell, the ultimate for me would be a female Sandtrooper)

Before anyone references my Kennedy comment, well, it's a fact that since Disney's take over, all the new SW stories have stronger female roles, which is great, I loved Jynn, but with most are either OP / or solely tell the story's narration / or are the mcguffins of the story, and it is very apparent when their male counterparts tend to have 15 less IQ points and moral compasses that need be shaken once in a while by said female roles.

So nope, there's no sexism in the SW fandom, otherwise 99% of it wouldn't own a liea figure. 😃

I've never been against female driven stories, some of my favorite films are Female lead, the issue comes from how they handle such characters. It certainly helps to have a female writer who actually can relate as opposed to a male writer who writes according to preconceived notions about the opposite gender. Sometimes whoever hey choose at the lead is just plain boring regardless of whether else is going on. The stuff I flat out dislike is purposely making the male character dumb or incapable to prop up the female character, that type of thing doesn't belong on either side of the equation. We often hear the equal work for equal pay/equal treatment argument, so if that's truly the case why is it that those pot shots are needed?

A movie can support both strong female and male characters equally and they can stop trying to get back at the past 50 years of mistakes and one-sidedness in movie making. It only further pushes division rather than bringing people together with great stories for all. That said they have gotten a little better where it's not directly in your face but more subtle.

To some extent it can seem like Star Wars/Disney is trying to turn all their hero characters into female lead ones, which is fine to an extent. It should be a more equal representation and while I doubt we'll ever see a 100% takeover I'm sure there are few people who might feel/think that one day we'll not have any Male lead movies. lol

I'm fine with whatever the do as long as it makes sense to the overall story and isn't some forced just for optics. Like I said before I didn't fully get the Omega character reason for being based on existing data, but I certainly didn't hop in the hate train simply because the character is a kid and a girl at that. I was actually intrigued as to what they were going for and where it might lead. I'm always up for new characters as long as they're well written and interesting.

This. I think Leia Boushh and Holdo aside, I think I've got every female character they've released (and will preorder an Archive Boushh day one). Like you say, its seens to be just a boring design - same reason I doubt I'd buy a TPM Anakin and why I skipped on Holdo. Put Holdo in something other than awful 70s evening dress, something that will fit in with my display and I'd have bought her. Oh and if they'd made the character interesting but I'm not getting in to that.

I dont see how they can make Omega really appeal to the typical, older Black Series fan (which is not to say none of us will buy her) but I'm sure they'll clean up with plush toys etc. Even if she rocks up wearing clone armour in plastic form though, I'm not sure I want a 12yo Disney Princess who is a child soldier stood next to the other clones. At the same time, I totally get why Disney want such a character and I am all for a more inclusive SW universe - I love that my niece wants to be Rey, whereas my sister growing up with me had literally zero interest because it was so male focused in the OT days.

She might turn out to be a great character - although I hope she isnt another Grogu or all powerful being, but I trust Filoni - but as a Black Series action figure? Not for me.

Fully agree.

I think the problem comes down to marketing analysts and their one belief that a show or a film will only appeal to kids if there's sort of child character, or a cute animal that can be sold as a plushy or a fridge magnet.

And in my view, they're very, very, wrong. I grew up in the 80's and 90's and would watch only adult sci-fi / action entertainment, as did all my friends. All the big family block buster films starring kids and cutey creatures, didn't hype beyond a weekend, while the OT, Batman, Terminator, Predator and so many others, is what remained with us since kids... and in way, it's also because of that, that our generation has carried this hobby to where it is now.
