New OWK Droid 4 pk

I definitely wouldn’t have picked that astromech or the probe droid. Typically, I buy a few of each set, but I’ll stick to one this time. I think the retro NED figures I ordered will suffice.

Nice, hope I can manage to get this one. I've missed out on the Mandalorian set, and the holiday 4 pack (and R5-D33R...).

Glad we're getting a decent R3-T2 but the weathering seems to go from heavy sand to spotless a bit abruptly for me!
Yes, for some reason Disney doesn't do weathering very well, it looks like just leftover rose gold paint from R2-W50. As I said in the main thread it's sad that this is the route to getting a proper R3-T2, the good news is that it's a BAD versus Hasbro's "current crappy" mold they're using for Droids. Which means is you have an extra clean BAD R2 you can simply do a head swap!

Personally I would have preferred a different lineup and getting something else other than the Probe Droid. I do wonder why they didn't give Ned-B BH shoulders, that's the one drawback to him. So in this case I'd opt for a TVC version.

I guess it's official any Droids seen in D+ series will only come out via Droid Factory regardless of whether they were OT origins, which is the bummer part because I don't think they can keep up with all of them that are needed.

This is what I was hoping for, and look at Disney tooling up new parts! I thought NED-B had some great moments for a non-speaking droid, and 1-JAC will have a more successful bounty hunting career in my hands. Wonder if his pistols are glued on? The Viper probe is oddly smaller than the ESB version, but it did seem smaller in the show, so maybe it's a cheaper or older model. I never realized how poor the deco is on Hasbro's R3-T2, so even with the pixelated grime, it's good to see this version. I suppose someone on Tatooine could've painted his clear dome red to shade his internals from the sun.

Hopefully this shows up in US parks soon. I have friends going at the end of the month to FL. This is a must have set (much more than the Mando set from last year)

This is a great little set. R3-T2 is my favorite, obviously, but the rest are pretty nice. Not sure why a mini probe droid took the place of a second astromech droid though. The probe droid in that episode was clearly the standard sized probe droid as seen in ESB. Guess it's a play value thing? Also a bit odd that they'd sculpt a whole new figure for 1-JAC instead of just making a bandolier accessory for their 4-LOM sculpt, and a couple glue-on holsters. Wonder why they did that? Oh, well. All I know is I'm gonna need a bunch of that T2!

Weird that 1-JAC is entirely new? I wonder if his limbs swap with previous protocol BADs? I'm with you, they could've just glued on some accessories and been done with it. I would've forgiven the same paint masks and all. I like the Viper probe droid, but they really missed a chance to add that blue R2. KP-1 would've been neat, but in addition to having to create all new parts, I'm still not sure how to fit it into canon. Would a regular sized dome fit on top?

I forgot about KP-1 and the blue striped R2. Hope they still get made at some point down the road.

VERY excited for this set! Well, for the fake 4-LOM and Ned, at least.

Since they don't have the amazing Droid Depot 4-LOM anymore, this will have to do!

I wouldn’t call a 4 pack with all new droids little! 😂 Agreed that this is a great set. I hope that it shows up at ShopDisney.

I just can't stop looking at the photos of 1-JAC. He looks awful. The upper thighs and hips look more like a Retro 5POA version, especially compared with the protocol legs Disney used on 4-LOM. I'd rather they not have just glued the blasters to his hips, but I understand tiny parts and little kids. Yet that head is crazy squished! Again, it looks like it was borrowed from a Retro figure, not the Disney parts bin full of those heads. I'll chase this set and probably overpay, but I'm bewildered at why Disney would spend so much money to make worse versions of toys they already sell.

Of course, Disney didn't have a Viper droid, but really, a repainted astromech would've made more sense and been cost effective. I thought the Droid Factory line was oriented to rebuilding & swapping parts?

I wonder if the Viper probe droid in this set is an indicator that there will be a future four-pack for the Rise of the Resistance ride; they can use most of this one as the base for a First Order probe droid.

They could easily reuse the Probe Droid if they do another Galaxy's Edge set.

Maybe. The FO one is fairly different above the legs.
It shows they're willing to do something of that size and complexity though.

I'd be good with that! That droid doesn't offer itself up to multiple colors like the astromechs or protocol droids, so it's like painting yourself into a corner. Same with the R1 from "The Mandalorian". The Viper probe droid is definitely iconic, but I can't imagine it in any color than black and really dark grey, and Disney doesn't tend to release a single version of a droid multiple times. Unless it's BB-8. ;)

I am thinking though, since they've tooled up all those arms, what else could they do with them? They're a little big for a WED-15 Treadwell but might work? Any other ideas?

Maybe a Book of Boba Fett set with 8-D8 might be on the way too?
I dunno, this one feels more up Hasbro's alley due it it being a 96er. If it's not released on TVC card it will most likely upset few individuals if only way to get it is in a D+ 4-pk.

It would have been nice if they'd have done a set for Bad Batch with all the cool looking Droids that appeared in that show!!!!

You're completely right about 8D8. But man, it would be so nice to have those limbs available in a Droid Factory format. And Disney seems the type to tool up a head & torso for BG-J38 the next year. The Hasbro build-a-droid version is mythical!

Has "Bad Batch" not hit as big as Disney hoped? Is it not hooking kids they way "Clone Wars" did in the Cartoon Network days? I just don't see much about the show apart from 6" Black Series figures ("adult collectibles") and unrelated VC Clones.

Are we sure this isn’t the correct size of a probe droid?

There were multiple models and props made of the probe droid which makes the true size tricky. photos of the one on the second death star look about this size,

It's definitely undersized. I've seen old behind the scenes footage of ESB film crew unloading the 1:1 Probot prop from a shipping crate in Norway. He was a big boy! The most recent Force Link toy from a few years ago got the scale mostly right.

Well in reality Hasbro is the creator of the BAD concept so I don't think it should be excusive to Disney at all, and yes I'd love for 8D8 to be in BAD format because when the concept was first revealed I thought it was a great idea as it meant the days of me busting open Astromechs were over!

^ still a coincidence (or not) that when Disney took over LF, A) other than R2-D2 and DSD, hasbro has not released a BaD molded figure in years, B) Hasbro's molds (or at least copies of them) were used for Disney Park excl BaD line until molds were modified to drop the extra side holes and foot wires and C) Hasbro dropped the return of Droid Factory 2 line (grant it, Amazon got a limited run exclusive of already produced figures)

^ ok, I stand corrected as my mind was in TVC mode. Still that's not alot of droid releases. Plus 3 of 5 are from the Galaxy Edge sub-line so there's still a Disney park connection on those. R5 may have gotten away with it being BaD since that'slikely the only R5 mold available. R7, well that's a well known droid so that may helped w/ that one.

Yeah, I don't count Exclusive one-offs or multipacks. The Basic line hasn't seen a Droid in years regardless what the mold was!
Aside from the obligatory R2 and 3PO which you'd expect to see anyway, but as for any others nada! Though I will say the Gonk Droids was a neat update but is a 96er so it had to be in TVC. Like I've said before though if Hasbro is going to continue to use the current mold they used for Merrick's Droid then I'd be very unhappy with any of them released here on out. I prefer if they go back to G9 mold if they can no longer use BAD's.

I'll just say that the lack of Droids is disturbing..

Those 2 are droids, but not BaDs- the point of this observation
