I've just discovered my prototype Rocket Fett was stolen from my Star Wars museum at my workshop in Texas. It was sealed in an AFA case with rocket and certification. The photo above was taken by a guest in the last two weeks so the theft is recent. Detailed photos of the loose Fett are on our
vintage Fett archive page. Needless to day, if anybody should hear anything about a Fett like this floating around, please contact me.

That really sucks! I sure hope the scumbag that stole it gets caught and that the piece gets returned. It really pisses me off when I hear about people's collections getting ripped off...

Was the whole thing stolen or was the case broken and the figure removed?

That's awful and frustrating news.

Man that's more than terrible. Was it a break in or a guest? Do you have a list of people that visited in the last 2 weeks or was it too hard to keep track? Any suspects?

The pictures on the archive are pretty good quality so I imagine it should be possible to identify if it turns up on the market. Do you have a close up of the AFA case label and number?

Hope you manage to get it back - I'm sure the community on Rebelscum and the various facebook groups will be keeping a look out!

The full AFA case is gone, so not something you'd fit in your pocket to sneak out.

No break in. Had to be a friend with a guest or friend alone, which is actually the worst part of it for me. Oddly, I don't believe I ever took a photo of the AFA case, though I'll ask AFA for it.

Philip, sorry to hear!

I hope you've contacted the authorities and given them a list of people who have visited!

That sucks, I hope you get it back soon! If it's someone who came to your place during the past two weeks, the list of suspects will be quick and easy to narrow though.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. A true piece of vintage action figure history vanishing is horrific news.

Truly things like this make me angry. It probably has more sentimental value than monetary. A few years ago a friend of mine had his Megos stolen. they turned up eventually thanks to the diligence of the collecting community. With the piece being so rare, and only so many being able to afford one, the chances of it being found if the dirt bag tries to sell it are good. I truly feel for you my friend :( contact AFA straight away in case someone breaks the case and tries to have it re-certified. As a safety measure also contact some of the other grading places. I pray that it turns up.

Could this be it?? A reddit user named IntelWarrior posted this 3 days ago

I doubt this is the same figure, it looks more like one of the myriad of fakes/reproductions out there. The mold line on the head looks to be in the wrong place for one - on the authentic example photo it looks like it runs right down the middle of the visor, whereas in the reddit photo it is pretty clearly offset to the right of center. There looks to be less detail on the helmet of the reddit example as well.

Hope this finds its way back somehow though! Certainly makes me think twice about letting people visit my collection in person. :\

I've posted about it over in our mod forum on TFN - if someone tries to sell one over there I've asked the mods to let me know.

well IF someone tries to sell on ebay I will be keeping an eye out. This is a big major piece so its going to be hard for that individual to not arouse suspicion if it surfaces for sale, whoever it is that took it, with the community keeping its eyes open, I have got to think, unless the thief is planning on hanging on to it for a longggggggg time.

It is a shame this is happening, its like we are getting more scams frequently and stolen vintage SW, it has got to be partly because of the rising prices I have got to think.

Jeez. I'm sorry to hear this. I would agree with Hoth_My_Fav in that it will probably be sat on for quite a while, but just in case I would recommend contacting local pawn shops and let them know that this figure was stolen. Being such a "famous" variation I'm sure most individuals in the resale business are aware of it. Also, maybe alert your local flea markets/antique collectives of the theft. This happens occasionally here in San Francisco (theft of high end items) and you'd be surprised how supportive and helpful the reseller community can be. Best of luck.

yes, I was thinking the same about the local pawn shops, flea markets, antique shows/stores.. comic book stores,,, just in case someone walks in thinking they can get some fast cash.

Man, again this is so terrible. I guess collectors now have to start to think about having video surveillance as part of the cost of the hobby, I mean we already cover our collections with insurance, so I guess this is the next logical outgrowth or step.

Sad times :(

It's a real shame this happened, made worse that it may be a friend or guest welcomed in. I shared you post on Twitter and Facebook and hope others will also so that it's found and returned.

Definitely a tough loss. That's a figure I've only dreamed about, and have never seen in person.

Hopefully it was insured for current values.

This is horrible! My guess is that it was a female guest with a large purse, or a male guest with a backpack since no break in was detected. I hope the thief has a sudden moral compass and returns it to you.

Awful news... Man, so sorry to hear this... With a grail like this, it will probably pop up somewhere. Like others have said, everyone is suspect who visited. I wish you good fortune on getting him back into your collection.

Hope you catch the scumbag who took him. Pardon the irony, but perhaps you could put a bounty on the figure:)

Man this is horrible. I could just imagine the gut wrenching feeling, the pitfall in your stomach. Wow. That is messed up. I would imagine you maybe have a good idea who could of taken it. You must remember who came and went. Least you have all the possible suspects accounted for, but still the feeling of betrayal. I am sorry for you. That is terrible. KARMAis a &&&&& and will surely prevail.
Best of Luck

Very sorry to read about what happened and I hope it gets resolved quickly and you recover the item. I guess at this point you can write off as someone playing a prank, since I am sure they would have fessed up by now. I would think that it shouldn't be too difficult to track down the culprit. If there was no signs of forced entry then it had to be someone who recently visited and had access to it. I am sure you already have law enforcement involved. They will not be able to sell the item as it will be flagged...and if they were stupid enough to break it out of the grading authenticating case they would have a very difficult time doing anything with it because it would be questioned as to it was even real. Fingers crossed that everything will work out for you.
