This all started because the stupid little bear was included in the picture, and absolutely not because it was one of the coolest vehicles in the line. And I became inspired by similiar runs done by other focus collectors, like Marc’s LXW/X-Wing, Broc’s RS/RLC, Skye’s Chewie/VME, Billy’s Bossk/Cap-2, Martijn’s Snowtrooper/Tri-pod LC. And of course, Alvarez killer BS/Speeder Bike collection which really has been an inspiration for this run of mine. I recently put it on display. Enjoy!

My displayed Speeder Bike collection. Top shelf: Box flat, unpainted First shot, first shot parts, Kenner MIB, parts with handwritten notes. Unpainted Lili Ledy factory left over figures.
Middle shelf: International production boxed stuff.
Lower shelf: Kenner Morgue shipping box. Spanish PBP shipping box.

Unpainted First Shot, some parts in non production colors. Blank COO bar.

European bilogo

Palitoy/Bilogo

Spanish ”bilogo import” with Moto Jet sticker. PBP imported Speeder Bikes from other countries before their own was ready (see next pic). There’s also a Kenner box with the same sticker out there, but I haven’t been able to find that one.

This shipping case is from the famous Kenner Morgue. When Kenner closed up shop in Ohio, Hasbro packed up the Kenner Morgue (cases and cases of virtually every item ever made) and some of those where leaked out into the market. The Sales Dept. Oakley "F" building was the way Kenner cataloged all of their inventory in The Morgue and have supporting lists that go along with it.

PS. I would still love to find a Meccano stickered Speeder Bike, hence the French fawning in the thread title

Re: My Coffret Jedi Speeder Bikes.

There are so many things I love about this limelight, here are three...

1: The French title.
2: The presence of an item straight from building F
3: The insane and downright improbable number of different Speeder Bikes from around the world. 2 Spanish Versions!?! 2 Swedish Versions!?!

Awesome.

Holy crapola Mattias, that is one unholy run of Speeders!! I had no idea half of those variants even existed. Big, big congrats to you on such a superb run and an even nicer display. I really, really like the shipping cartons for these, especially the Morgue one.

Thanks for sharing your run and also for the mention above. When I started doing the CAP-2, I had no clue I'd find the amount of box types that I did. I just wanted something else with my favorite lizardman on it.

I'm glad you did this one for Pooh Bear Boy, it has turned out to be extremely nice.

How long have you been building this run?

Thanx for the kind words.

Awesome run! I'm kind of partial though. BTW you know who to email when you decide to let that Morgue shipping case go.

Re: My Coffret Jedi Speeder Bikes.

Awesome!!! Great to see an update on the run Mattias. I love these little side runs to a character focus. The speederbike works out so well for Chirpa and the Biker Scout. It is beautifully displayed and just looks superb! Thanks for sharing!

I couldn't agree more on both counts. And huge congrats on both counts.

Yeah, me too. The Morgue one is priceless. What a *great* vehicle in the Kenner line-up & movies, & i'm just stunned by the quality of this run. Wildly cool items & display.

Thanks so much for sharing, & great photos.

Re: My Coffret Jedi Speeder Bikes.

Really nice run, well displayed and good quality photos. I also like the lighting you have in your set ups.

The 'morgue' box adds an interesting talking point and also begs the question how does one ship a (valuable and very large) vintage shipping box ?

My favourite piece is the boxed Ledy. Also, I'm pretty sure that the 49p box is from the very recently bankrupt UK retail outlet Woolworths, as that store had 49p, 99p and £1.99 items it was shifting at the end of the vintage era.

Great display work yet again.

Thanks for sharing,

That a great run Mattias!

Are there any production versions to go or is this it?

And a morgue piece. Now...just to see that list...O...I forgot don't mention the list. This list "doesn't" exsist. There is "no" list.

Ha ha, well. It's only those thiny simple quite boring stickers that makes them to a "Swedish" variant. Not the coolest variation, but to me (being a Swede who also collect all Swedish related stuff) they rock! LOL

baldylox said:

It depends on how you count. I've had the Swedish variants for probably 10 years. It wasn't really my intention to make it to a fokus. Besides the Chirpa connection I collect Swedish stuff, like European oddities and love Endor related pre-production stuff. So all of sudden I had a Speeder Bike run. But I think you can say I've been working on it for the last 4 years or so.

I know
I honestly think it belongs in you collection, if you find a regular similiar shipping box, who knows what Santa brings

This is probably the best compliment in the whole thread. Thanks! I get so inspired looking at other peoples collections myself, both limelights here and in private.

Then you can see both mine and Daniel's collections live

Like I said in my signature, I'm still looking for a Meccano stickered Speeder Bike and I think thats the last production version I need/want. I've been looking for one without any luck ever since Stephane's great book got out. And there's a Moto Jet sticker on a Kenner boxed Speeder too, but since I already have one on a bilogo version, I'm pleased with that.

Thought I'd add this semi-related Swedish collector card to the thread, it's not like the real deal but still a neat piece imo.

Re: My Coffret Jedi Speeder Bikes.

That is an amazing run. For some reason I have always liked those Special Buy 49p stickers. I guess as a reminder that there was a time when nobody wanted Star Wars.

I also love those shipping boxes.

Awesome run Mattias. I was just looking at a vintage FS bike yesterday as a matter of fact. I have to say yours is one of my favourite collections to look at. Diversity, quality, and excellence in display all around.

Re: My Coffret Jedi Speeder Bikes.

Fantastic run Mattias! Really like te setup, the various European styles and Swedish versions in particular (allthough it is 'just' a sticker!)

Being mentioned in the second line of your limelight makes me think "I'm not worthy"
I could only dream to add a 3D piece of the TPLC to my run...

Re: My Coffret Jedi Speeder Bikes.

What a run Mattias! The speederbike is definitely a favorite and the multitude of foreign box variations is beyond what I would have expected. "Moto Jet" immediately made me think "Rocketbike Rider."

I love that you were able to bring original shipping boxes back together with some of their matching items. It adds even more to the history museum feel of the display.

Lastly, at 49p the Palitoy sure is a "Special Buy"

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Great run Mattias, I see we both are lacking the same Speeder Bike item. This hard to come by white sticker Meccano box. Although I still don´t have any scandinavian stickered boxes.
