Mosep Binneed - #18

I just thought it was cool to see the Lutrillians in better detail. I'm not entirely very tech savvy but I stumbled on that image via google image search and then found someone on pinterest who has posted lots of Cantina-related things I've never seen... Who would have thought?

Gotta love Arleil Schous' jacket there. I swear I had one just like that in the 80's!

These last two I have seen but they reinforce the idea that Walrusman and Ellorrs Madak both need to be revisited and of course Baniss Keeg needs to finally see the light of day as well..

I love that shot of Lucas directing the aliens. I imagine him saying "You, yeah you with horn. I'm not gonna tell you again, stop sticking your face in front of the brain guy here. I need you both in frame. And this goes for everybody on this set--if any of you give me any trouble, I swear I will find a way to remove you from this scene with some sort of, I don't know what you call it, computer-generated something. It may take me 20 years but I will do it! Now, ACTION!!!"

Arliel Schous is looking pretty fly in that striped jacket. Hckek- Furk Bugerk...(whatever Bossk's little brothers name is) not so much. It looks so bad in that shot that it's awesome!

Same here.

Thanks for sharing those pic, Ty - a few others there I hadn't seen before either. It's amazing how much stuff is still out there given all of the making of books and online photo dumps that have happened, especially since the 30th Anniversary. Probably truckloads to go even now in the Lucasfilm archives.

Yes, thanks for all of these new Cantina pics. I've been a SW fan since I was a kid in '77, and thought I had seen all of the behind-the-scenes pics. from all of the films, especially the OT. However, never seen these recent pics. Very interesting.

You have no idea, and the one who has all the great pics is Gary Kurtz, all he did was photograph every scene on the first 2 movies. A website promising to archive and realease his stuff has been stuck in Limbo for years The Kurtz Joiner Archive: The Archive

George Lucas kept a strangle hold on most behind the scenes photography that revealed the artiface behind the art. You rarely ever saw pics, especially of the main characters, with their masks off. To his credit, it kept the magic alive all these years. Now that he is no longer in control, the floodgates have opened, and we are seeing way more revealing behind the scenes images than ever before.

Always love your pics on your site Dan!
Just curious, do you olan to eventually have every single toy or figure on your site? I was using the site the other day and noticed stuff like exclusives, multpacks or the Rebo Band packs are still MIA.

Again, love your site!!!

Got Mr. Binneed today from dorkside toys! Great figure with great paint compared to some I've seen. So nice to add a new face to my cantina! BRING ON TZIZZVVT!!!

Finally got mine from a somewhat tardy retailer who had my preorder.

Best figure in YEARS. Satan is smiling.

Thanks! The overall plan is to take pics of everything, its just that there is not enough hours in the day lol. I have a family, full time job, and I am the only one running the site, so time flies by each day.

Totally and completely understand. I was just curious if that was the eventual plan. Thanks for the response. Again, I love looking at the photos and the info on the figures on your site.

Got Mosep Binneed from Amazon earlier this week. Excellent cantina alien! It was more $ than I wanted to pay, but since I'm not sure I'll be able to find this @ retail I definitely wanted to get the figure. Great toy, and one of my favorite figures in TBS - I like never-before-made Cantina characters anyway, and this is one of the better ones.

IIRC, there was more than one of these guys in ANH, so I may pick up another one if I can find this @ retail. I like the alien design/costume so much that it would be great to have several for a Tattoine/cantina diorama.

I also like the fact that this character's design was used for Jabba the Hutt in the original Marvel comics, pre-ROTJ.

Haven't followed this thread too closely, so I'm sure I'm repeating others' initial reactions. Always nice to get a brand new OT alien figure (last totally new OT ones we got were Sgt. Doallyn and Bom Vimdin I think). Difference between the quality on this and Bom though shows Hasbro's downward slide the past couple years.
Articulation is odd. Knee joints have very limited range of motion. Gloves fall off easily like Snowtrooper Commander, though maybe my figure was warm from sitting out in the sun on the truck. Rocker ankles aren't needed without the hip articulation (not that I would want that on this figure) and don't look quite as good as regular ball-jointed ankles. Also strange as others have mentioned that they made that separate collar piece.
All that said it's still a solid figure and I'd probably give it a 7.5 or 8 out of 10.
Probably ranks for me among the top 5-6 figures in the Black Series (for me those are Vizam, Ree Yees, Doallyn, and Snowtrooper Commander).

I agree with your points regarding the articulation, as I've noticed issues with trying to pose / display the figure. If Hasbro is going to give a figure super articulation, it should be useful to the character and functional.

Another question, which may have been discussed - but is this character actually female? Its listed as a male, but the figure and character in the movie both have a chest. Both aliens of this species wearing the same outfit in ANH appear to have female chests actually...

He's probably just suffering from gynecomastia

Good question. The Wookiepedia link states that he's male: Mosep Binneed - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki

I'm guessing the Mosep's physiogomy probably has something to do with his being an alien?!

I was finally able to get this guy today at WM, along with Commander Doom. Very good day!!

The best of this wave, but still no way near worth $15+ with shipping.

Hasbro has lost their minds.

Broke down and ordered him from amazon last week and got him today. It's crazy that it's been so long since we've got a new cantina alien.

Here's my first thoughts after opening him up -

Sculpt is excellent, his head doesn't seem undersized and the details are well rendered.

Articulation is decent, the knees are very limited though. Of course the plastic skirt prevents him from sitting but I can live with that.

Quality Control is where I have issues. Paint applications are off. Eyes are off the mark and the belt and buckle are both messed up. These are easy fixes but I shouldn't have to fix anything at these prices. Also his left arm keeps popping off at the shoulder for some reason when I move the arm. Not a big deal but it's annoying.

Paint is good despite the sloppiness in places. I really like the shade of red they cast his suit in. Also happy that they chose to cast his gloves and boots in black rather than red with black painted over them. Plus I'm happy that he has no mismatched joints. I will probably attempt to add a wash to his head to help bring out the details in the sculpt.

Accessories are a bit lacking imo. The new blaster is nice, correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's based on greedo's blaster.
I really wish they would have included a drink cup or the table that came with pons limbic back in the legacy collection, just to add some extra value.

Overall I think Mosep is a solid figure (though overpriced), he'll fit right in in my cantina. If I come across another in store I'll pick it up to customize into taws khaa.

Yes - the fact that ol' Mosep is an overall well-produced never-before-made Cantina alien is enough to make me overlook the fact that this is overpriced & other small flaws...

Be sure to show us your wash you do on Mosep's noggin! I think this figure will look flawless once given a wash to make the details really come out in his face. I agree, he and all Cantina patrons (and Palace Denizens as well) should always come with a drinking glass. I know I have a ton of extras, but still. Ree Yees came with two blasters and no glass when he definitely should have come with a glass and maybe just one blaster.

I certainly will have pics of him this week. I'll attempt the paint wash tonight. I did manage to fix his shoulder that kept popping out, it just needed pushed in further so that it would pop in place properly.

I'm really digging this figure, I'm so glad I got one.

Also, don't forget the repaint for another $13!. ;)

Oh wait, this isn't Hasbro of 07. My bad, guess we won't see that happening anytime soon...

That aside, I do see some great usage out of his legs. Finally, I can make more accurate pants for my Imperial Officers!

Looks great with the wash! I need to do that. I had to cut a couple slits in his skirt to allow sitting in my cantina, and it worked pretty well. Here he is:

Yeah, the wash definitely makes the details in his face come out. Good job Scarrviper! And thanks for sharing!

Daigo Bah, that dio you have is a rhing of beauty! Looks like a still from the movie! Luke looks like he had too much to drink ;) Haha JK I know he just got knocked down by the good Doctor.

Yes, great pics.! I remember that Mosep was off to the side in ANH, so that's screen-accurate. Well done diorama there.

Picked up another Mosep, despite the expensive price. Really digging the design of this cantina alien, and IIRC there was more than one in the OT....I think he was in Jabba's palace as well?!...

Haha, yeah, he does remind me of the President of the Federation of Planets :awesome:

th

Who is the actor from Robocop, which I had forgotten until seeing the pic again LOL

Her's a pic of the Jabba version. Mine is a custom.

A smart customizer should make a mold of a hairless Mosep for other customizers to use (you know, for the slave dancer custom everybody wants).
