Momaw Nadon “Hammerhead” - VC#***

Its a nice figure, good to pair with fat Bib and other misfits.

I keep trying to buy this guy on Pulse but I keep getting an error message saying server overload or something like that.

Mine arrived from Pulse, via DHL/USPS, and I have to give them credit, it’s here when they said it would be.

It’s a great figure, and there’s 3 bubbles containing all the extra pieces. So that’s gotta add to the $$$ “deluxe”

Back in the day, in TVC 1.0, I was blown away by the Gamorrean Guard. It was an instant favorite, and it's yet to be topped—cream of the crop.

Today, he's finally been dethroned. Hammerhead, AKA Momaw Nadon, is, hands down, one of the best figures they've ever made. There's not a flaw on him, and not only did I expect him to be good, but he actually exceeds my expectations in every way. This might be the best figure they've ever made. Hasbro excels when it comes to aliens; pretty much all my top favorites are some sort of alien. They really do pull out all the stops; they're almost all top-tier figures, and this is a billboard for WHY more need to be regularly made again. This is peak SW figure collecting. Not a SINGLE complaint from anybody.

Finally arrived yesterday afternoon with nary a word from Hasbro. Also a good thing I'm an opener because whoever was working at Pulse wrapped the shredded paper too tightly around the figures causing them to bend and crease. Larger card strike back once again.

Hammerhead has a special place in my heart. My vintage one is the oldest figure I have and my prize possession. If there was any one thing I was going to rescue in a fire after my wife and cats, it would be that. So this figure brings the feels and it's expertly done. I love how it's bulky like the puppet and yet so well articulated you can do anything with it.

One of the best things about this Hammerhead is how so many people were scoffing at the need for an all-new Momaw, and now it’s becoming a veritable love-fest all around, heh. I’ll never turn my nose up at an OG96 update, especially when it’s an alien, and of this level of quality.

This and the Mos Eisley Street set. A lot of Ho-Hum reactions when it was announced too, but it’s been one of the most photographed sets I’ve seen. I hope the Cantina is the same when it arrives and all the nay sayers regret not backing it. And to think we still have an updated landspeeder and banthas coming our way! I’m loving this RtT theme.

I was one of those people, but I think you misunderstood. I was never against an update of Hammerhead so much as I felt some roles were more pressing. And honestly, I still feel that way. That hasn't changed. Momaw's older figure was even better off than Labria, Lak, or Boshek are now. I mean, some of those cantina aliens are so dated; it's been close to 30 years, and they look almost like Happy Meal toys. The SAGA Hammerhead is a nice figure, so nice I'm not retiring it by any means. TVC Hammerhead will have a buddy on the shelf. Labria, Boshek, and Lak I put to the very, very back of my shelf because they look soooo bad.

I appreciate that so many of the All-New items seem to really be crowd-pleasers to the extent that they are. I likely won't get the Mos Eisley set and I don't know that I'll buy this guy, but seeing the love for that stuff still adds a new level of excitement for the line to me.

Yeah, I was thinking that, too!

Before: "Urgh. I'm not gonna buy that. The card's the wrong size. The Saga one is good enough. I don't need all those accessories. You're just going to put him in one pose and leave him that way in your display, why does he need all that articulation? Rip-off!"

After: "OMG! This guy is great! Toy of the year! He's so much fun! Dude's massive! Hitting me hard in the nostalgia feels! Best Cantina figure yet!"

Well, the card size is wrong, heh. That's why I only ordered one and will rip that sucker off the card as soon as I get the chance (arrived day before yesterday, but been pretty busy). Chris' comments during one of the Q&As leads me to believe they will find a way to get Momaw back out on a 6x9 card, even if it means scrapping some of the accessories and putting him in a carded multipack. Blizzard Force Customs has also stated they're working on 6x9 replacement card and bubble for the figure.

Everything you said is Greedo for me. My Hammerhead is supposed to be here today so I'm pretty excited. But delivery day for Greedo and the Cantina is going to be awesome.

Enh, I've said enough at many places on the internet how I think he could've easily been done as a standard TVC release, without all the extra gubbins. Having him as part of another multi-pack down the line sounds entirely plausible. But there's also that Cantina Adventure Set with the standard card, and I will be opening those, too.

Yeah, I heard a lot of bemoaning dhl and the usps, but mine arrived 4 days earlier than scheduled.

A few are still disgruntled:

”Well would you look at that… A few extra POA and suddenly your the life of the party. It’s like, ‘Oh look at me! I can sit!’ ”

Just a little fun. I adore all my Ithorians. Keep em’ coming Hasbro.

And a shot with a little less foreground blur.

I really, really do like this figure, but it pains me that, despite all the articulation he has, he’ll spend most of his time as a background set piece in my cantina display. I feel like his level of articulation warrants him to be in fighting poses (which you could still technically use him for since he comes with weapons). It’s why I generally tend to advocate for reduced articulation for background characters.

There are no "background" characters at these prices. There should be no "reduced articulation" for figures costing between $17 and $25 bucks.

The current Epic Heroes line-style articulation is suitable for background characters. I’d definitely pay $7-$8 for figures with limited (not 5POA) articulation.

My take is - If I'm going to spend money on a figure, I really don't want it to be one they took shortcuts on. If it's worth having, it should do everything every other figure like it can do. I appreciate that this guy can live in a display where he's fighting side by side with rebels and look cool.

Then buy those!
No background characters (yet) in that lineup. I did get SM-33 and I definitely don’t mind the shortcuts they took because I paid $8 for a decent figure than the $25 they would have charged for a deluxe version.

Thing is, a lot of collectors up into middle age still love posing and playing around with these things. (I'm planning on doing some photocomics, if I can.) There are already limited-articulation versions of this character; I'm sure once the TVC Momaw spreads widely enough, those older figures will come up for sale, at quite a reasonable price. Now, though, most of us want figures on par with the other super-detailed, super-articulated figures, for a really nice collection of really nice figures.
