Hey,

It took a while but I already have a couple of pictures of the Negrito Yoda,
As you can see the figure is stapled to a cardback with nothing printed on it´s back
And with the Yoda figure inside a hard "crude" bubble and inside is also it´s Cane that glows in the dark and it´s dark green snake both loose inside and without any tape to hold them.

I would like to thank my friend Alvaro Saez from Toluca Mexico for sending me some "crappy" pictures of his figure in lightning time (over a month),

No man, You know I´m just kidding,
But seriously get a better camera.

Now that's just cool. Talk about cheesy background art. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, very interesting!!

Do you know anything about where they were made and by whome? Picture is too funny.

If you can get pics of any other carded I'd *love* to see them, especially a carded Zuckuss with weapon.

That is effen awesome and it is now on my and probably many others bootleg collectors want list. I dont think the pictures are too bad. This needs archive treatment so all can see. Is this racist? I cant say, but in todays ridiculous PC world, if you fart in the wrong place you are considered a racist. I think the question is would the bone wearing Aborigines of Mexico find it offensive? This kind of reminds me of the Geico commercial where the cave men get angry because Geico states..they are so easy to use even a cave man can understand it.

That "crappy" pictures comment was like a private joke between my friend Alvaro and me because he sent me about 20 different bad and blurry pictures of this figure and I kept asking him over and over to send me better ones, till he sent me a few " decent " ones,

I know that the Art on the cardback might seem a little politically incorrect for some people, Maybe that is why they only sold those figures for a limited period of time,

I think it´s still a cool little piece to own.:)

And for the people who find the negrito bootlegs offensive,

Please protest against them and against the bootlegers who made them by burning every single one of those nasty racist figures in public!!!

That will show them

Being overly PC is saying that the fact that Billy Dee has straightened hair is racist.

I don't think this is the case here. Not to get too political, but there is no doubt this picture is extremely racist. I imagine that the goal was not racist, as it is mainly derrogatory towards people of African descent, and as far as I know there has not been a large wave of imigration from Africa toward Mexico. It is using an image of a savage cannibal African from the "Dark, dark, continent" (Like it used to say in Looney Tunes) as an icon to please children. It is simply a mascot that has aged VERY badly. This kind of image is offensive as it is dehumanizing, and has been used for over a hundred years to dehumanize people of African descent, most often blacks in America. I could go into the historical and harmful usages of such imagery in America, but I will refrain as it has nothing to do with Star Wars Collecting!

This kind of imagery is still very popular in Europe and Japan where it is not seen as racist, but rather humorous. Fortunately, that is starting to change

Anyways, that does not take away from the fact that it is an awesome bootleg, and probably adds to the value as it is taboo. I just hope that there is no Chewbacca like this, as I would never have it in my house even if I could find it!

Just have to chime in and say that I dont think your assumption is correct Skye.
It has thankfully changed in most european countries a long time ago, atleast in my opinion...

Yeah, perhaps I worded it too strongly.

It is not that the imagery is "very popular" but that it is much more accepted in Europe and especially Japan. It is more accepted because the racial history is very different than the culture that spawned the imagery (USA). I however, am only speaking from experience in France and Italy, so I was being too broad in saying all of Europe.

And to clairfy, I am not saying it should be burned. To the contrary, it should be put on the archive and added to the growing list of fascinating bootlegs. I was just stating that it is racist, and not just politically incorrect, despite the fact that it is awesome.

Too late man!
The word is spreaded,

The negrito bootlegs are burning all around the world,

you know I´m kidding right?

I assumed that but I felt I just had to clarify and debate my point of view.

Well, back on track, I'm amazed what bootleg manufacturers came up with.
This is just hysterical and so far from SW as it could be

No matter of
what I think of the item, but from a rarity point of view its a very interesting
piece. Shameonyou, thanks for sharing!

I know that the Art on the card has nothing to do with Star Wars,

But I have also seen Power Rangers, Dragon ball figures and even the Count Duckula on those cards, some without a bubble, just a plastic bag stapled with the figure inside,

Those Negrito Guys realeased a lot of different non Star Wars figures on those same cardbacks.

Just a little question for all my fellow scummers out there,

What do you guys thik is that giant green circle that the "Cannibal" in the negrito cardbacks is holding in the air?

Maybe a giant green eye?
A big pot?
a black hole?
Or just a big "nothing" that made sense in the crazy mind of the artist at that time?

well,
I know where to find a carded one, but it´s not going to be easy,

Do you know any professional Cat Burglars?
tongue.gif

I recall similar controversy fairly recently
stamp
Clearly the cardback is racist by today's standard but as an historical artifact it is what it is.

hmmmm,

I always thought this "negrito bootlegs" were fakes! Made in the last years to scam the bootleg collectors??????

Hi Shameonyou,
That is a neat Yoda piece you have.
Would you mind posting a picture of the cane glowing in the dark?

Don't think Shameonyou will be replying to your request mate, sorry.

Dude, it's a fake, he's a scam artist, and I'm pretty sure he was either banned or left because he got called on being a scam artist.

Well, actually a lot has happened since this thread first originated in '06 and it turns out that this figure among a few others found are nothing but "high output customs" (there you go John
wink.gif
). It's not really an unknown line of real bootlegs.

Bobafettguy said:
You mean it doesn't glow in the dark? Dirty rat, I was getting excited too

Whether it glows in the dark or not I don't know, it's still not an actual "bootleg".

I belive yoda negrito is a new bootleg, but anyway is beautiful isn't it?

This thread won't die. Why won't people read the whole thing before commenting? It's FAKE. It's not a real bootleg. Please don't be fooled.

He was stating his opinion of these pieces, and who made you a mod??

Back on topic, for those that don't know the history, either go to Shameonyous profile and read all his threads/posts, or at the very least start with this one:

Unless someones disrupting threads or posting off topic on them.....I just don't really care if they make a simple "nice piece" comment here or there.
