It's a while off yet but Hasbro have confirmed a new Wookiee will be in the 2011 line up. Merumeru has been on the rumor lists for some time so it could possibly be him. One thing is for sure it's not another Chewbacca figure (thankgod, even though we could use a good PT version).

Here's the QnA from SSG...

SSG: Wookiees have consistently been some of the most popular Star Wars aliens since 1977, but haven't had a lot of great non-Chewbacca figures. Fans were very excited to finally be getting a Wookiee battle on Kashyyyk in Episode III, as well as the promise of more Wookiee figures, but figures of Tarrful and the 2 Wookiees we got didn't fully deliver on detailing or articulation, and 2 of them were hampered by action features. Since then, we've gotten updates of Kashyyyk clone troopers, but no more of their Wookiee "brothers in arms". And now with The Force Unleashed we have 2 full levels on Kashyyyk with Wookiees to fight with, but no toys to recreate this. When will we be seeing new and varied Wookiee warrior figures to live up to these great sources?

Hasbro: Ewoks have been getting a lot of attention lately, and we agree that their taller furry cousins are due some attention as well. We have slotted a new (non-Chewie) Wookiee into the 2011 lineup and will be looking at what else we can do to build out more following that.

Hasbro should just redo the whole lot of them since the action features and lack of articulation really killed the ROTS Wookies. Who should Hasbro make? Discuss!

Great new Wookie 2 years later nice we need a whole new army builder wookie from Star Wars 3 with good accessores.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

One of the prides of the war in the floor is the wookie army, I think it is up to about 20 strong. I dare Hasbro to make a new SA wookie, and if they do running changes that can mix and match parts for variety, I will go overboard with them.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I like Wookies.

A new one that isn't crapped up by built in action features is long overdue. Too bad it's such a long time until the new one will happen... 2011 is really a llllong way off.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I hope it's Merumeru this time and I want better articulation than all those ROTS ones. The leg articulation on those was pointless. All they accomplished was the ability to pose your Wookies in a "Dire need to pee" position.

Except for this one, which is still the second-greatest figure Hasbro has ever released:

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I don't know any of the Wookiee names, but it will probably be Tarful or the front and center one in the beach raid scene. I know they've already been made, but I think it will just be an update, not a new one.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

There's no chance it could be Tyvokka could it? It might just end up being just a regular ROTS/TFU Wookie warrior which is fine we need one anyway.

Lucasfilm edict has nixed any hope of a wookiee Jedi. But I'm just wondering, could they be referring to the Comic Pack Ralrra that got bumped from this year?

Re: Wookiee - 2011

A Ralrra would be pretty cool, if he were a comic pack who do you think he'd come with? Also why does Lucasfilm hate the idea of a Wookie Jedi?

Re: Wookiee - 2011

i dont know wookie names either, but i could swear theres a pokemon named merumeru?

i wouldnt mind a few more good wookies, that votc chewie and that governor wookie are the only 2 i have thought looked good. the rots wookies all looked cartoony to me.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

They will probably turn up in the Clone Wars animated series. We will just get animated versionas and none from Sith. Just guessing

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I'm happy they're giving off more wookies, I'd really like to see Tarrful. As long as they are going to be highly detailed and articulated, the wookies from the ROTS wave look too soft and cuddly. They need to give them a mean warrior look to them. So far they've been doing great with the molding so we'll see.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

Like a lot of people, I'm looking forward to the prospect of more Wookiees. The ROTS Tarfful was a huge let down as was the Chewbacca. This Wookiee Rages thing they did on Chewie and the [censored] poor articulation made me wonder why Hasbro even bothered in the first place!

I know Hasbro are experimenting with figures, try to do the whole playability thing, but these "action" things in figures tends to ruin the figures.

I do have the Wookiee Heavy Gunner, Wookiee Commando and the cream and brown Wookiee warriors, but I would like to see them all remade with far better articulation and do away with that horrific firing cannon and those horrific firing bowcasters which are just way tooooooo big.

I would like to see Wookiees in all shapes and sizes too. I know they are pretty much all quite tall, but it would be nice to have some variation in height and I suppose weight like the preview Wookiee warrior is a bit on the obese side and the others slim. So it would be nice if Hasbro did some variations like that as well as doing other colour schemes too. Cream and tan, cream and brown, cream and black, black and brown, two or three shaeds of brown on one, maybe an older Wookiee with greying fur etc. Hasbro need to learn there are more colour combinations that they can use.

Plus, I would love to see Lowbacca made and maybe any other Force sensitive Wookiees.. I just really, really want a Jedi Wookiee!

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I really want a Jedi wookie too!!! Please Hasbro make Tyvokka or Lowbacca!!!
grin.gif

If it's Lowbacca, they could do a comic pack right? Aren't they putting him in the Dark Horse Invasion series?
He could come with Jaina in her flight gear!!!

I think the big H will probably cut costs & repack a Vong instead.

Third choice is Zaalbar who could come with Bastila Shan in comic pack format. Please Hasbro I need a yellow double-bladed lightsaber...thanks

I made Snoova my first Wookie Jedi!!! Take that Lucasfilm!!!!

It is stated as fact, second-hand, that Lucas has a no-Jedi rule for about three species. IIRC, Wookiees, Tuskens and Ewoks are on the list. Maybe it has something to do with the dog he used to own that served as the inspiration for Chewbacca, as well as the nickname of Dr. Henry Jones, Jr.

I've yet to see a direct quote from Lucas on this. It all seems to be second hand - "George says droids don't have souls"; "George likes a flat tax"; "George likes pan-galactic health care"; "George says the Lashbees were behind 9/11."

An animated Wookiee would be neat too. I'm sure in time they'll be done.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

Even though it probably won't happen the Wookie I'd love to see the most is Lowbacca the Jedi nephew of Chewbacca. He could come with MT-D (his translator droid attached to his belt), bronze lightsaber and custom jedi robe, damn that would be sweet.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I certainly hope this reference isn't about Ralracheen. If that comic pack with the Noghri has been pushed back to 2011 it's a significant setback.

I'm really hoping that this may be Merumeru. He's very prominent in the scene on the beach in ROTS. Although I'd also be very happy with Tyvokka, unlikely as it may be. And a resculpted Tarful? It would be very welcome, but I'd rather see the others first.

On a related note, while Hasbro said that there will be a Wookiee who is not Chewbacca, there's still room for new Chewies. Namely a ROTS version. His fur in ROTS is lighter and he's got a totally different bowcaster.

I agreed that Wookiee is the best in terms of articulation and detail (I have about 8 of them myself). I had Tarful and Chewbacca in mind which are plain horrible, I don't even know why they bothered giving Tarful articulation at all since he can barely move.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I don't really mind, aslong as it doesn't look too much like Chewie. I have always liked the Sneak Peak Wookie from Episode 3, so something like that would be welcomed. Even a new Tarfil would be good to see.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

I want Attitchituk, doesnt have to be a Hooliday special figure, they can claim its from Galactic battlegrounds.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

They must have not found a way to slot the Wookiee in, I do recall they said a new one was on the way though. So it's a waiting game till he finally makes it out, I sure could go for another one soon!
With all the Wookiee figures out there, there's only four unique sculpts besides Chewy.

I was really hoping for one, generic or not generc.

I would love to see a new Tarfull, since he's the most prominent Wookiee, next to Chewbacca, in ROTS. The 2005 figure was a total embarrassment.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

We'll probably hear more about whichever wookiee it is at next years Toy Fair. Would be nice to see a generic wookiee to toss in various dioramas.

Re: Wookiee - 2011

Looking forward to seeing a Wookie (or more) announced at Toy Fair. The Kashyykk display needs some more fur

That would be nice, but I am wondering whether this wookiee they mentioned back in 2009 mightn't have been the one from the now defunct Heir to the Empire comic pack? Here's hoping it was somebody else and he's still coming. I agree the wookiees haven't had much love lately, and even when they were getting a lot of attention thanks to ROTS, the figures for the most part left much to be desired.

LOL, yes, that would be annoying.

But seriously, I would love to see a Wookie amped up with SA and various accessories. I know Hasbro hates doing variants because they can't keep their factories on a leash but this would be a good one for colored variants.

It is not, from the first post on this page
