Happy to have found this at my local Walmart. Wasn't sure if I would find it. It's got full deco all around and rubber tires.

Oh, that's a beauty! My Walmart has only seen fit to restock the first wave Superfast. The 220 SE, the Volkswagen van, the Range Rover, etc. They do this a lot. They'll get the first wave in, sell it, restock it, sell that, then restock it again, then restock that, then get in newer cars and sprinkle them in with the cars from newer wave(s) (which is how I got the '32 Ford), but when all that sells through, they double down on more of the first wave again, and then it rots on the pegs because everyone who's gonna has already gotten the 220 SE, Volkswagen van and the other first-wavers, and then because that isn't moving, it just sits there and so I never see anything new from that particular sub line.

They're consistent about it. Always restocking the same old cases and never getting anything new in. I haven't seen the Jeep series since the apparently one case they had (of a series exclusive to their store!) sold through. And they really bungled the Mercedes series, restocking it exactly one time after it initially sold through and never again when it sold out again. The pegs sat empty before they went straight to the (IMO) less-interesting Ford series. And I never, ever saw the maroon G 550.

Is this Walmart's fault or Mattel's?

I know the debacle with the G 550 was Mattel's. According to the Matchbox wiki, its single release was cancelled (!) and it debuted in the five-pack my Walmart never got (in fact, although five-packs have been made of the Mercedes, Ford, Chevrolet, Land Rover and Jeep series, I've never seen them offered in stores; every Walmart I ever went to only offered the single-carded cars). But WTF happened with the G 550? It was a simple color with a different bumper configuration (no bull bars). What was the SNAFU? Was doing a recolor without the Jurassic World version's bull bars really so beyond Mattel's capabilities they had to cancel the car's single release and hold it back?

Mattel has been doing a lot of really great vehicles in both Matchbox and Hot Wheels. The problem is getting them into stores. Just like Hasbro with the Black Series; a lot of really great product, but nobody can get it because half the stores don't seem to stock it. So, again, outside of the held back G 550, is this the stores' or the manufacturers' fault...? I.e., is it that Walmart keeps doubling down on the first wave(s), or that that's what Mattel keeps sending them?

This particular Walmart got in this Superfast 50th wave a few weeks ago, but the Porsche was gone. This time I happen to stop by during the week and they had 2 of each in the wave out. I assume all the Superfast 50th cars are 2 to a case? This casting ticks all the right boxes for me. A cool sports car, full deco all around (headlights and taillights), rubber tires, side mirrors. It's got it all.

I saw myself accumulating way to many Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars that I had to take a step back and scale down my focus. I find myself only getting the premium cars and even then I'm picking and choosing my favorites. I figured I'd rather have 1 car with all the bells and whistles than 5 regular releases with missing details. Once in a while I'll make an exception and get a regular release.

I did manage to get that Superfast 50th VW van, but it was pure luck at an out of the way Walmart I happen to be in. Wasn't even looking for it, but I always check the toy aisle anytime I go to any Walmart as most of us do I'm sure.

Ordered the crushed Explorer #4 and an extra Jeep #18. More Jurassic Jeeps are always a good thing. Now, come on, Mattel, bring on the muddy Jeep #10 and the black Unimog. :D

where did you order the crushed explorer #4 from? haven't been able to find one yet for sale and it's really the only want I want from the 5 pack.

also picked up a Cadillac Limo the other day:

And despite the fact he demanded such a high price for these originally, the seller threw in the black Unimog for free (he says). We'll see. :D

We really need dinos in 1/64 scale or close to it. Right now I don't know of anything that works. The little 3-packs are too small I think. I mean maybe some of the dinos are close enough in scale, but not the larger ones like the T-rex for example.

And it looks like the Jeep series is being handled the same way as the Mercedes one, at least by my Walmart. It has not been restocked since the initial wave sold through.

I just found about 3 cases of the Jeep series at my Walmart. These are finally re-stocking! It looks like 2 of them are short packed in each case of 10. The CJ-7 and the 2005 Gladiator. I finally picked up the Jurassic Park Wrangler #10.

I found a T-Rex toy in Walgreens today in their holiday toy section. looks to be a good scale to use with the JP line from Matchbox. Gonna try and take a few pics today and hopefully post them tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip. I may pop into Walgreens and see. I'm not even sure what a 1:64 scale T-Rex should be size-wise.

Another place I was thinking of looking is Micheal's. I recall they have all kinds of assorted plastic animals and dragons.

as promised:

"Must go faster... MUST GO FASTER!"

here's a quick side comparison of the T-Rex and the Matchbox jeep

I bought the dinosaur from Walgreens yesterday. it works really well. this was in the same section as the value sized 5" SW figures that popped up in dollar stores etc. the T-Rex was $5.99 (but I got it for free with my walgreens points). I believe they also had Blue, Owen and Pachycephalosaurus too. Blue and the Pachycephalosaurus are the same size as the T-Rex. I didn't see Owen in the store so I'm guessing he's a standard 5"

OK, that looks like a decent size for the 1:64 diecast. Big thanks for posting the pics. Judging from the sculpt is that an official Jurrasic World product? Want to know what to look for specifically. As you know there are lots of generic dinosaur toys of various sizes and quality. The one you have looks pretty good.

Let me know if you happen to see them any where else. I went to one Walgreen's near my home, but they had nothing like what you are showing.

it's an official Jurassic World piece. I wish I saved the box but I was so excited to find this dino that I immediately had to set it up and get pictures. I haven't seen them anywhere else so far (except Walgreens) but I'd imagine these should start showing up in stores like Odd Lots, Dollar General, Five Below etc

Thanks again. I tried to find anything about this particular series of toys online, but I've yet to really find anything about it. Just being aware of this is good though. Now I can be on the look out. I love it when I get a good idea or tip from a fellow collector. This is what toy forums are all about IMO. :)

Poop King is very popular in my area. No surprise, when I was a kid that would have been quite an exciting car to have. Haha. And as an adult too. ;) Ive been getting more into Matchbox lately. Interesting vehicles and cool series like Moving Parts and the detailed 50th releases.

Finally found. Which film is the Mercedes Unimog from? Also I'm not sure what other cars came in this wave.

Found some new Power Grabs at Kroger. Got the VW '74 Jungle Thing! So cool. Plus picked up a few other interesting models: Caprice Classic Police NYPD, '75 Caprice, '61 Ranchero, Nissan Coastal Van, and an International Workstar Brush Fire Truck.

Found 3 more interesting Power Grab cars at a different Kroger. '63 Austin Healy, '57 Thunderbird, and a Big Banana Car, because...who doesn't need a big yellow banana car? 🤣
