I heard yesterday that a Thunderbolds movies is coming and they have a director attached, will be interesting how they will handle the Ross situation whether they recast or just not use Ross. Which then means they need to create someone for that position, and they can't even use Norma either. Even though I was never into this team I'm curious as it seems interesting to see a bad guy themed team for change.

Someone suggested brining back Justin Hammer for the Ross role which I think would great, as for the roster as I've said not familiar but it seems they're grooming U.S. Agent for it as well as Yelena, Nemo and few other newer characters. I don't expect to see Red Hulk though. Who else could they bring in or introduce that would be on the team?
I'm assuming they'll use the name Thunderbolts in "honor?" of Ross now and have Val (Julia Louis Dreyfuss) run the team. I've been rooting for more teams like this with Young Avengers and Midnight Sons at the top of the list with the Thunderbolts.

There are a lot that could be included. You already mentioned:
US Agent
Yelena (Black Widow)
Baron Zemo
but out there still are:
Abomination
Ghost
Taskmaster
Batroc - could be alive...
and of course they could add any number of characters that have been part of that group in comics.

Yeah Val was another I was going to mention but slipped my mind as I was writing, personally though like the Idea of Sam Rockwell coming back as much I don't think it would actually happen. Thus is where Val comes in and would be less costly than Rockwell. Taskmaster really fell flat for me, Ghost as well didn't feel well thought out or all that interesting of a character. Which was sad because I really liked the actor portraying her. I've never really cared much for Abomination, though it does seem they're trying to give him more personality as of late so that character could become more interesting. Batroc could be cool, I felt he was under utilized.

Hopefully this will make up for he overall lack of compelling bad guys throughout the MCU over the years.

Anyone watching Ms Marvel? I am a bit obsessed with the culture on display in this. I've seen a number of shows that have cultural aspects, but I love the family and how they've really leaned into everything, yet are telling a modern story. The superhero part is just getting started, but the set up has been really interesting, albeit a bit 'high school musical'. She's awkward in all the right ways.

I wasn't a huge fan of this character before, but I actually like the powers this way better than her stretching all out .... it will certainly make more sense this way when she's included with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau.

I like how others have pointed out the bangle is like the Ten Rings or possibly related to things yet to come in the MCU like the Negabands or Quantum bands. We've also seen Janet VanDyne with Quantum energy. Scott Lang was collecting Quantum energy. This looks like the new 'Infinity Stones' of the MCU.

Have not watched Ms Marvel ep2 yet, but I am glad I watched it with the wife as I think she is more of the target audience (enjoyed it more through her eyes)

I really enjoyed E1, but like @VideoViper haven't gotten on to E2 yet (it won't be tonight but hopefully tomorrow).

I've mostly read Amazing Spider-man and X-Men from Marvel over the last few years (well, all my life really 😅) so this is my first experience of Kamala Khan. Liking what I've seen so far, awkward teenage nerd flashbacks and all!

First episode was alright but the second was cringe for me, which pretty much summed up that I'm not the target audience for this show. Which is just fine as not every show/movie needs to be.

That said, I do like the family dynamic and is very on point with what I've seen of their culture. I also think Iman was a great choice for Ms. Marvel and she's enjoyable to watch as she experiences life. I wish this show all the success and hope that it delivers for the target audience watching and especially for all the fans of this character.

Characters with Cosmic Power in the MCU:
Carol Danvers - Captain Marvel - from Tesseract / Kree
Monica Rambeau - Spectrum/Photon/Captain Marvel - from Chaos Magic / Wanda
Kamala Khan - Ms Marvel - from her Bangle
Shang Chi - Shang Chi - from the Ten Rings
Eternals - from Celestials
Celestials - probably eventually bringing in Galactus and his Power Cosmic

Cosmic Power coming soon to the MCU:
Adam Warlock
Nova
High Evolutionary - rumored

Characters with Cosmic Power that could be coming soon:
Galactus
Silver Surfer
Quasar - Cosmic Bands?

I'm seeing Dr. Strange as something else. Wanda is Chaos Magic. There's the Dark Dimension and the Quantum Realm with Janet VanDyne getting power from Quantum Energy... Really wondering if there is a connection between all of this stuff and multiverse hopping like America Chavez manages.

I'm waiting for everyone to catch up on Episode 3, but Ms Marvel is a fun show.
  Spoiler:

The rich cultural background with the idea of Jinn being a powerful force here is yet another fascinating connection to history and "Gods" and the afterlife.

There are 2 bangles.... where's the other one?

I'm amazed that they're doing a major deep dive by having the ClanDestine group involved. Very cool idea. I actually recently finished picking up the original mini-series from back issue bins at various cons & such.

Not gonna lie, I'd never heard of this until I watched New Rockstars easter egg video on this last episode. If any of you are not watching those after episodes, you're doing yourself a disservice.

EP5 was pretty good but the same old problem with D+ series is it takes forever to get there and then they rush the last episode. Some great stuff happening with the Family centered parts but somehow the Ms. Marvel stuff get lost along the way with only sprinkles here and there with you wondering how she's managed to fight off trained warriors having no training herself. Did I miss the part where she's at least a gymnast or an orange belt?

Depending on what happens in EP6 I suspect that maybe in The Marvels she'll get some actual training by someone, or perhaps somewhere in between.

L&T mostly good but if you have younger children it might be better to wait for it on Disney + (2 months) due to the way they handled certain topics (Korg explains the birds & bees to what should have been a G to PG audience.)

Anyone seen Thor Love and Thunder?
I feel it has the same problem that the entirety of the "Phase 4" movies have had. They set up a lot of stuff but there is no payoff. Up until Shang-Chi, all the movies felt like there was a build up and a connection and you got parts of the whole. Now it's just parts.

Black Widow was connected after the fact, but suffered from all the 2020 delays and just timing in general. I liked that movie for what it was.

Shang Chi, Eternals, Doctor Strange MoM, and Thor L&T are all one off type movies. I see they set something up in each, but are we really going to get a movie down the line with any of these characters together?

Xialing, Phastos, Clea, Axl, and Bao the God of Dumplings are going to have an Avengers pic together?

I mean, I'd go watch that, but I just don't see how any of what they've done is consequential. None of the other characters have been interested in the Multiverse getting opened up? None of the other characters are aware of all the "Gods" that just sit out there? NO one is concerned about the Celestial that formed out in the sea and apparently had NO effect on the Earth whatsoever? NO one cares that there are dozens of aliens in New Asgard?

it didn't make a whole lot of sense. the plot goes something like this:

Jane has cancer. Jane discovers that mjolnir brings health and long life to whomever wields it (an important plot point). So Jane gets the bright idea, to visit New Asgard, in the hope of having mjolnir cure her cancer.

seems simple enough....

but then... PLOT TWIST.... (like maybe a new writer takes over at this point?)...

suddenly it seems mjolnir actually "called" her to visit new asgard -- (so it wasn't her idea after all) -- and every time she touches it, it makes her cancer worse -- (so mjolnir is an ass: it "called her" JUST for the sake of KILLING her) -- it drained her of the energy she needed to fight the disease (contrary to the pre-established plot point, which plainly states, that mjolnir brings health and long life to whomever wields it) -- and it USED this energy to bring ITSELF back to life. 😲

so basically: the movie establishes "important plot points" and then immediately contradicts them. good game.

  Spoiler:
And Gor is going after Gods right... so let's make all the Gods selfish, hedonistic, dopes that actually don't care at all about the people that 'worship' them. Any God that is killed will be killed off screen, and when he has the chance to fulfill his goal... let's have him decide instead to bring back his daughter and then die so a God can raise her right.

I didn't hate Thor 4, but it was basically just a big joke that had no punchline. It didn't introduce anything of consequence unless the end credit actually leads to something... which will mean the movie was done for laughs and for a 3 second cameo.

also: mjolnir re-assembles itself in Jane's presence, because, apparently Jane is "worthy" -- (makes sense) -- being in the presence of someone "worthy" makes the hammer come to life again....

....so are we to believe that mjolnir has NEVER been in the presence in someone "worthy" during the whole time it has been broken? not even Thor? (does this mean Thor is "not worthy"?)

nope. he picks it up in this movie, so apparantly he's still "worthy" -- so why didn't it "re-assemble itself" in Thor's presence, at ANY time in the last few years?

apparently it was just waiting for somebody with cancer that it could KILL, by draining her life force, to bring itself back to life??

yeah. it doesn't make much sense.

in the end... Thor gets his hammer back.... but it doesn't seem to bother him, that the hammer physically KILLED his GF, and used HER life-force to rebuild itself and come back to life again.

"Love and Thunder", in a nutshell:

Mjolnir (to Thor): *sobs* you LEFT me, and hooked up with that hussy Stormbringer..! but you just wait.. I'll get you back.. I'll KILL your One True Love Jane Foster and use HER life-force to come alive again! you'll NEVER be rid of me! *sobs*

Thor (to Mjolnir): YOU're my "One True Love" babe... Stormbringer meant nothing to me.. and Jane? Jane who? I'm just glad you're back! let's go live in a cottage and raise a kid together!

The End.

I'm just going to say it. Ms. Marvel is a Delight!

I loved every second of it and honestly the Disney+ series have so much going for them that it makes me not worry so much about the movies. Ms. Marvel was an origin story within a history lesson within a cultural context that was just too much fun to miss.

AND Mid - Credits scene! Last Episode. Nice!

Not to mention a musical cue that only consisted of a few notes, but was enough to get me pumped!

I wasn't gushing the same sentiment everyone else seems to over this show, it just doesn't land for me as it feels too 80/90High School themed. Not that there's anything wrong with it, I've just outgrown it. I thought the best parts of the show were when she's interacting with family and I'd have to say the 6th episode was by far the best just above the 1st.

I absolutely thought that moment at the end came out of nowhere an never thought they'd do it in a D+ show even if it was just a hint/wink!
Now that it seems they reveals Mutants I wonder exactly what's going on because I was getting the impression that she was a JInn and from another realm. And now the mutation line, though the Terrogen looking effect in EP5 got me thinking they could be laying the foundation for Mutants it still seemed far fetched to go full Mutant reveal just yet.

Really looking forward to the Marvels now and how this does impacts other existing characters.

Thoughts on recent Marvel content:

Thor Love n' Thunder was both hilarious and surprisingly touching. Like the ending affected me way more than the ending of Wandavision. Hope Taika is involved in more Marvel projects to come.

Ms. Marvel had one of those most intimate portrayals of a superhero and their family. The portrayal of Pakistani-Americans showed how diverse they are in a lot of aspects. It's the kind of show that Marvel would not have taken a risk on ten years ago, but look how far we've come. The main actress was fantastic and seemed really natural for the role.

That said, I still found the show frequently boring. Especially the forgettable villains. The Damage Control lady was basically the same exact person as the head of SWORD in Wandavision. At times the show came across as one of those educational VHS' you would watch in middle school history class. And I'm so tired of when Marvel makes you wait until the last episode/act to see the heroes in their movie-accurate costumes...

I was not looking forward to The Marvels, but now I am. I see that as a major positive especially if they can make Captain Marvel a little more likeable/relatable.

I was surprised with the angle they took with The Mighty Thor just because I didn't expect them to go there not because it's all that surprising. I found myself alternately smiling and being taken out of the movie several times. The action intercut with jokes/dialogue was overdone a bit. I know Waititi is known for this style, but I enjoyed it more in Ragnarok than in this story which was ultimately more serious in nature. I'll watch anything Waititi is involved in so looking forward to his Star Wars movie :)

Iman Vellani killed it. They left it open as to what's next and where did her power come from really but that's great because I really want to see what's next and learn more about how she and Rambeau and Danvers are actually connected.

They didn't really have a big bad in the show, but just her protecting everyone and not trying to stop a major calamity was fine. Not sure how they would have made this any better.

Yes I felt this was a little too much this time out, Ragnarock worked really well on blending the two elements together but here it seemed to undercut the seriousness/danger way too much. Plus I felt Gor was underused/not used well in terms of making me believe the threat was real, Bale did a pretty good performance for the short amount of time he was on screen, but they didn't really lean into what makes Gor so formidable/feared. I guess because Thor felt directionless so them the movie have that same feeling. I was never a big fan of the Jane role, they just never seemed to make it work for me and felt like her scenes always took up too much time from the main story. In this she actually is a little more interesting and at least does something more than stand around being smart.

Yes an interesting thought because I kind of felt that Danvers scene was out of left field, so there's got to be some kind of connection for that to happen.

Yeah I like teh fact it was more down to Earth type of struggle versus an Universal threat, even though it was low key alluded to with the threat of the other dimension encroaching on ours if the door were to be opened. And maybe it's because the MCU is what it is I still subconsciously think "oh shouldn't Spider-Man pop in to see why there's something nefarious going on in his home City?" lol

Lots of new reveals in the last 24 hours - trailers for She Hulk and Wakanda Forever.

The next phase with Daredevil (18episodes) and 2 Avengers films.

Lots going on in the next few years

I really like the Wakanda trailer, I guess certain rumors are true about you know who appearing ,looks like an epic movie adventure.
She Hulk not as much but that's a totally different thing anyway.

That appears to be a very large map of things for the next two phases, but I'm wondering why and where and how does a Secret Wars even fit in?
I can see them wanting to delve into Secret Invasion ever since they got the Skrulls back, but secret wars just seems so convoluted to me.

Avengers: Kang Dynasty. It seems he'll play a larger role than some expected even if he isn't the next Thanos level big bad. He's at least an Ultron level threat perhaps. I think I'm most interested in Wakanda and seeing how they adapt to the loss of a main character, everything else is so far out that it's a large unknown still.

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to which Secret Wars series they're going for. Based on the whole Multiverse Saga overarching title & the end of Dr. Strange: MoM, I'm pretty sure they mean the more recent Secret Wars which saw the multiverse being destroyed by a higher level group of entities that wound up with Doom holding the remaining fragments of the multiverse together using Molecule Man's powers & his sheer force of will. The incursions mentioned by Dark Strange were a how the multiverse was being wiped out in the comics.

There is a lot of confusion in general with the MCU but they've earned a lot of trust, so we'll see where this Multiverse Saga is taking us and hopefully they can write as credible a story as they did with the Infinity Saga. I want a movie where the current characters team up before we get to 2025 though....

I'm feeling like it's getting less and less likely all the time that all these characters aren't interacting with one another really. I mean, I realize GotG, Marvels, and Thor are happening outside of Earth and I assume much of Ant-Man will be in the Quantum Realm?, but we got so many heroes ON Earth and events taking place... there has to be a team-up somewhere soon right? And not just Daredevil and She Hulk.

I really didn't think the Multiverse thing was going to go on for too long but it seems like it's going to wind up being a big deal.

I like the smaller scale adventurer stuff as it can remain close off and tell its own thing without you feeling like the Avengers need to show up to help. Though I did kind of get the feeling for five seconds that Spidey should have investigated what was going on in his own neighborhood. lol
It's also nice to get a break from the World/Universe is at risk type of threats and just deal with small time issues.

The only thing I worry about with increasing projects is that Feige spreading himself thin or not being able to closely monitor all projects like he was able to do for the Infinity Saga, that's a lot for one person to oversee and be hands on.

As for the team ups, that will likely happen later once we get to know the newbies. I look at phase 4 as phase 1 was, a building year and once these new characters have their origins told and are established we can build up to another all expansive Avengers Assemble moment. Because as it stand there really isn't an Avengers team in service, the HQ was destroyed and the Money train died. Strange isn't even an Avenger and I don't really think the Guardians are either. Plus we've yet to hear the status of the team/roster or who's even in charge now.

Feige did say there would be a few team ups here and there on the solo projects before an actual Avengers movie, and with those movies in 25 that really isn't too far away.

Noticeably absent from SDCC was mention of Young Avengers. I would assume that we'll see one of those open slots be for this team up, but Steinfeld (Hawkeye), Newton (Stature/Stinger), and Thorne (Ironheart) are already 25. I don't think any of the other youngsters are over 20 but those three will be pushing 30 by the time something comes out. I know that Newton and Thorne haven't yet been introduced, but I'd expect a Young Avengers team up to be a post credit thing in either Wakanda Forever or Quantumania.

(also not shown: Armor Wars, the 'Wakanda' series rumored, Deadpool, a Halloween special with Werewolf by Night, and any talk of Wonder Man)

NO one is doing breakdowns the way New Rockstars does them. I recommend watching EVERY breakdown for every Marvel property, but this gives so much insight into what COULD happen and also a lot of detail to what has already happened. These definitely heighten anyone's understanding of the MCU even if you think you know it all. *and it mentions Young Avengers... I think he's 100% right about that property

Phase 5 has been shown, but we don't know what will go down in any of those movies or shows. Secret Invasion seems bigger than one show so I'm going to expand it a bit.

So... my thoughts instead of working:

Quantumania = will briefly show a young Avengers team working together (I saw this suggested above, but it totally makes sense). I'm hoping we see Nate Richards(connection to Kang and probably not called Iron Lad), Kate Bishop, Patriot, and Hulkling <because he's connected to Skrulls working alongside Cassie Lang as Stinger. Ironheart, Ms Marvel, and Wanda's kids won't be part of this yet. ***Not Spoilers, just guesses

Secret Invasion D+ = Skrulls of course, but who will be interesting.

GotG 3 = We already know it's got a lot to do with Gamora/Quill and Rocket/High Evolutionary... what else we do not know. A culmination of the GotG story perhaps barely connected to anything else.

Echo D+ = I'm thinking this story will have something to do with Skrulls also as in the comics she is the one that kills Elektra and shows that she is in fact a Skrull. Wouldn't be too surprised to see her in Secret Invasion possibly as Ronin.

The Marvels = Assuming this is something Skrull vs Kree related. Will be interesting the dynamic between the 3 with Monica mistrusting and upset with Cap Marvel and Kamala Kahn idolizing her. I think this will be the culmination of the Skrull stuff. They could always return.

Young Avengers will get a movie or show eventually... but not sure where to shoehorn them in.

The slate looks pretty full as is but if they wait too long for a "Young Avengers" anything these stars will have aged out of that classification.

So shoehorning them in now... :ROFLMAO: 🤪:ROFLMAO:

Since I stopped at The Marvels above... I'll start with the rest of Phase 5:
No idea. That is all.

Seriously though. Loki will be about Kang, Blade will have something to do with Vampires and looks like Black Knight perhaps involved, Daredevil Born Again points to what they already did in Season 3 on Netflix, but I'm assuming that Born Again title is just a title. Agatha? and Cap NWO... anyone's guess but I hope that one is a team up with some of the heroes we now have (She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Shang Chi, Sersi, maybe a new character like Wolverine or Captain Britain???

Thunderbolts is clearly set up for US Agent, Yelena Belova, etc. with Val. and then we have a bunch of openings on the slate. END of PHASE 5

I'm going to shoehorn a Young Avengers D+ show to bridge a gap between Phase 5 and 6. We know Thunderbolts is July 26 2024 and Fantastic Four is starting Phase 6 on Nov 8 2024. In between, I'm dropping Young Avengers D+ in that first Fall 2024 slot.

The second Fall 2024 slot goes to Armor Wars D+ as I think that is still happening.

There are 2 Winter 2024 slots that I'm giving to Spider-Man 4 and a Nova D+ show. I think Nova is a good character and can bring in a few other characters that have current connections like Namorita (Namor's cousin), Magus (Adam Warlock), etc.

2 Spring 2025 slots I feel will end up with Deadpool 3 and a Loki Season 3 D+ that leads directly into Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Deadpool has to go somewhere and this seems to be the spot least likely to cause an issue with the other shows going on. Not sure Deadpool will be related entirely, but who doesn't want another Deadpool movie?

Finally... Kang Dynasty will be May 2, 2025 and they have 2 Summer slots in 2025 between that movie and Secret Wars. we HAVE TO get the mutants out before Secret Wars so one of those slots will go to The Mutants and the other I put aside for a Midnight Sons D+ show. Personal bias on that last one, but I really want to see it. I tried to get that one around Halloween but it just doesn't really seem to fit as I can't move Young Avengers or they'll be Middle Aged Avengers, and I have to have Armor Wars somewhere?

Young Avengers with Nathaniel Richards (Iron Lad) trying to NOT be a Kang. We'll also meet Kristoff Vernard the adopted heir to Dr. Doom
Fantastic Four vs. Immortus -- a version of Kang
Armor Wars with Kristoff as an armored version of Dr. Doom but we find out he is also a variant of Kang and not the real Doom << Spoiler alert
Spider-Man 4 - could be anything, but I think the tie-in here will be Spider-Man transported to another timeline to fight Kang and with alternate heroes-- I'm thinking Rama-Tut but could be just a normal version of Kang
Nova - I think this will be an origin story with a connection to Kang and also a teaser for Annihilus - to come after Secret Wars
Loki - leads directly into Kang Dynastry
AND then Midnight Sons will be vs. Kang's Legion of the Unliving.

Kang can be a multiverse villain like we've never seen.
