We'll be seeing a Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper disguise in the 6" line. He'll be slightly smaller then Han Solo and the Stormtroopers as well.

Who's going to be picking up this figure? Any thoughts on it?

I've always liked this head sculpt, although paint apps make or break it like everything else in this line. Definitely picking up a couple of this release along with Solo in trooper disguise provided the production helmets work out. The neck seal, correct belt and height are a nice surprise and deliver on the original promise of this line. Not sure how they're going to pull off a height difference, hope that works out as well.

His arms seem shorter, too. Looks a bit funny, I dont know. Looks a bit squat, like a star wars tyrion.

They did pull off the height difference. Luke has a shorter torso/abdomen

What type of weapon is he holding, I'm ignorant about these things??? Remember the original ST prototype shown, it had an "odd" weapon as well, like a mini-pistol, I assumed that maybe it foreshadowed a different figure coming in the future!!!

I don't. Most of my sandtroopers are posed holding DLT's. The best looking out of the three we got with that figure.

Betcha we are gonna see a slew of warped helmets with Han and Luke. I'm sure some boiling will cure em but just the thought of seeing them all squashed up in the box sucks...

Is Luke really that much shorter in that picture? How does the difference in height compare with real life?

Well, Han is standing further back than Luke...look at the stands they are on. Hard to tell how much shorter Luke is exactly, but if you look at the abdomen piece of his armor in relation to the breast plate and compare it to Han you can see what they did to shorten him.

Exactly, Han is standing further back and yet the height difference is still almost negligible. If you were to put them next to each other, I bet the difference isn't as big as the real life equivalent. Im not one to pick nits over such things, but hey - was it worth the effort at the end of the day?

I'm trying to figure out why these aren't exciting to me. When I first saw the POTF Stormtrooper Luke I was completely blown away. When Stormtrooper Han was announced as the mail-in back in 1995, I was blown away. And when one of the first CinemaScene three packs (if not THE first) was a set with those two, I was thrilled. I've generally loved them.

But I still consider these kinda dull. Maybe it's that, while I've always recognized that these are easy customs AND cheap kitbashes for Hasbro/Kenner, lately that kinda bugs me more. Maybe it's that, while a removeable helmet was amazing in 1985 and pretty freaking cool in 1995, all those clones have made it substantially less impressive now. Or maybe all those clones, and for that matter all the stormtrooper upgrades and reissues we've seen, has made me less enthusiastic about the armored army fodder. Or maybe it's that with two variant sandtroopers in this line already, and with so many options out there, going to the same basic well for the FIFTH TIME is just hard to get excited about. (But that's just the same as what I said before -- these are cheap and easy kitbashes, but they ALWAYS were, and I ALWAYS knew that)

Maybe it's just the fatigue of 20 years of collecting.

I don't know. I used to love the disguised versions of these guys and now I'm just "great, ANOTHER basically-the-same figure with a minor tweak."

Still, if they ever get around to doing ANH Leia, it'll be a pretty sweet display to have her with these two guys and Chewie behind them. ;)

I think that the reason why these don't seem that exciting to you - nor to me - is because we've already essentially seen these figures for a long, long time. I'm sure nearly everyone who owns a Han and a Stormtrooper has tried putting the Han head on the trooper body. The only difference here is that they apparently designed a piece to fit over the Stormtrooper head ball so that Han and Luke's headsculpts would fit more snugly on the body. That and the hollowed out helmet.

For the most part, anyone with a little bit of blue tack could've made a visually identical Stormtrooper Han for a long time now, and with the helmet on, all you have is something visually indistinguishable for any other Stormtrooper figure. Stormtrooper Luke is a bit more interesting because you can add more diversity to your Stormtrooper army by adding a marginally shorter trooper, but he's not going to look all that different from putting your X-Wing Luke's head on your Stormtrooper buck either.

It also looks like they shortened the upper legs a hair. In some photos you can see the striations of 3-d printing indicating they may have had to produce new thighs to help shorten the figure a hair. Essentially the armor can't change size but the stature of the figure has to.

I also wonder if they had to reduce the headsculpts on these figures a hair to fit those helmets. Everytime I've tried to do a profile comparison (usually by holding both figures side by side and crossing my eyes) I don't know how you'd fit these heads into those helmets. Hair and all Han is about impossible, Luke is less so but his nose is still a consideration. If they aren't shrinking the heads down a bet they might be flattening them to make them a shallower profile.

Oh and you can bet the Luke Stormtrooper heads will be nowhere near the quality of the X-wing Luke heads... count on that. Wave 1 is gone, the honeymoon is over.

This looks good to me, and it's great to have both Han and Luke in Stormtrooper disguise. Still waiting for ANH Luke to come. And when ANH Leia comes around it'll be nice to pose her with these and Chewie.

And for the fit of the helmet, perhaps either the helmets are a little bigger, or like you said the headsculpts could have been made a little smaller.

I'm betting they shrink the heads. they've got to know we don't want these to "STAND OUT" so much when they are side by side with real troopers. That would be junk. Plus these are all being handled digitally now anyway so I don't think that downscaling is as big a task as it ever was before.

That's a good point, if the helmets are enlarged it'll make the heads look too big while wearing it. Shrinking down the heads a bit would make sense too because with the Stormtrooper armor on, their heads should seem smaller with the added bulk anyway. Just as long as its not shrunk too much though.

Wish we got a good side-by-side photo of him next to Han so we could see just how much the difference in height is.

How do we know that the helmets are hollow, and not just a separate head?

They said so at SDCC this year. Initially, they were only plans to release the Stormtrooper Han. But they noted that the helmet would fit over both a Han headsculpt and a X-Wing Luke headsculpt. And that the little neck piece that will be added to the Stormtrooper to accommodate a Han head would also allow it to accommodate a Luke head.

These are just prototypes right, so are you guys saying that they plan on using the existing Han and Luke heads, with maybe some modification??? I was just assuming that they were place-holders, and that we'd get all new heads!!!

Please let this be the last Luke for a long time.

Luke with Wampa is coming out as well!!! My guess is w e get a speeder bike Luke soon, maybe a Jabba's palace Luke too!!! Then Most likely Luke on TaunTaun, or Dagobah Luke, or Dagobah landing Luke!!! Lmao!!! I'm a Luke fan, so I'm ok with it, but I see where you're coming from!!!
