Hey all. I know there are MANY threads about these infamous 2 packs that were sold as the Kenner line began to die down. In my searching, it seems the interest on these 2 packs comes and goes. @Jimmy_2Pack once had a pretty wild collection of these, as far as I can tell, and it seems @Starwars00 is currently bearing the torch. Unfortunately with time, many of the photo links in these old threads are dead, and so whats left of the remnant discussions have some holes. Sorry for all the pre-amble, I just know I'm adding to a long list of people asking about these, but my request is specific. Given what I think I understand about the parameters of these 2-packs, a number of unique combo's could be found, yet I cannot find good photo's of some of them for reference. Wondering if anyone out there has decent photo's of the following combos-

Leia Boushh / Han Endor
Gamorrean Guard / Ackbar
IG-88 / Yoda
Walrus Man / Biker Scout
Luke X-Wing / Greedo

I also have yet to have seen ANY good photos of a 2 pack with the OG Stormtrooper, and was also curious if the Sand People (Tusken Raider) ever made it into these? And to further confirm, Boba was NOT offered in these, correct? I saw a thread where people were speculating on an old eBay listing that was unanimously deemed as a fake/re-card job. Thanks in advance for anyone who adds to the discussion, and sorry if the tags are annoying. Happy to finally be posting on here!

I appreciate the name! Unfortunately, I'll pass on getting back on Boomerbook. Coming up on 10 years of not being on there lol. Thanks for the reply! @TheCollector

I have started to photograph all of the ROTJ 2-Packs to document the different characters available and could not resist taking a picture of the pile in my bedroom studio (yeah, don't ask

I have been collecting them since 2002 and have 144 different character combinations. Does anyone else collect these?

Thanks @Lt__Brenn_Tantor ! I guess I skimmed his collection photo too quickly and missed the Leia / Han. I see links for that book, but they all go to a site that my computer says is fraudulent / threatening... Any safe ways to view the book? I seemed to have long missed the physical copies 😭

Whoever needs to know this. I got a non-removable limb 3PO from a Kaybee 2-pack. That was my childhood 3PO as my older brother’s removable limb version was reduced to Jawa junk, going back to the time I was old enough to remember. I still have my solid limb 3PO to this day. I know it’s him because of a mold imperfection under the sole of this foot.

Getting 3PO was very important to me because I’d got the Ewok Village for Christmas that year and needed to put him in that throne!

Original C3PO is found in 2 packs (but not removable limbs version - not yet anyway). 95% were Kaybee (nation-wide). CG and Kenner had a special deal with them. However, 5% were found at smaller department stores on the east coast (especially NY). I had few rare ones with non-Kaybee price stickers.

Anyone else out there have personal memories of non-Kaybee stores selling these between 1983 and 1985?

I have seen an original stormtrooper 2-pack. I was trying to buy it years ago but the deal fell through so I can’t confirm if it was real. The boba fett was faked by a forum member here….K

Not trying to start a fight, but that seems highly unlikely given that Kenner had stopped making non removable limb C-3PO's for almost 2 years by that point... What was the other figure in the 2 pack?

Gamorrean Guard. I discovered the two packs at Kaybee and was weirded out by them. They each had two guys and one accessory. So strange! And a brown back, as opposed to the usually colorful “Collect all You Can Afford!”. Then sifting through them I found the *perfect* two pack.

Two figures, one accessory. The figure with an accessory was a troop builder. The other figure was one with no accessory anyways, and that I very badly wanted for my new Ewok Village. As usual, mom let me get one.

At this point if I found anything Star Wars there was a 99% chance my parents let me get it. I assume because they knew this stuff was drying up and any new SW find might be my last.

I have gently attempted to remove his limbs many times over the years but they are quite solidly attached.

Personally I believe that they were repacking not only 65-77 backs, but also figs in Kenner baggies.

Interesting! I've heard some wild tales about those Kenner baggie figures just showing up in kids mail boxes randomly. What a time!

Lol I’ve been playing Star Wars for a long time…..the c-3po’s in 2-packs are all original not removable limbs 🤷‍♂️ KIMG_9780.png

I found the 10 year old post and i replied to it so you can read through and check out some cool combos/pics. K

They probably got the “SW Forever” or “Young Jedi” promo. I gotta look it up in SWCA for you.

They got addresses of households likely to have kids who were the right demo to buy SW, from a marketing firm. They “cold called” them through the mail. You got a random baggied Chewbacca or Logray plus a poster and a letter with stickers to mail back. The stickers were of Kenner Vader, 3PO, R2 and Jedi Luke. You stuck the sticker of the figure you wanted onto the letter and mailed it back to them and they sent you that figure.

This was all free and just arrived unsolicited in a bunch of American homes. Kenner was trying to prolong interest in the line. Talk about an expensive promo. It was a real Hail Mary.

I've not heard of THESE campaigns, but I've spoken to folks who participated in "mail aways" and were later benefactors of free figures without sending away for them.

I’ve heard about people mistakenly getting two of the same free figure, a few weeks apart.

And of course there’s the infamous case of people who were so badly delayed on their free emperor that Kenner included a set of overstock Build Your Armies Micro Collection guys when their emperor finally arrived.
