Lieutenant Callahan - VC#351

Problem for me isn't even the "shape" its more that they are just going to be the same exact height as a male figure(some are fine that way) but that ends up not just making the women look weird but any male next to them is going to look off as well.
That's why I never got into Masters of the Universe Classics:

It always bugged me in GI Joe as well because you'd have women with sculpted big hair that were about the same height as dudes so they'd look way too big.
Back when I started customizing Joes id always look for the smallest parts possible to shrink them a bit, any bit helped imo.

I can relate. I remember cutting the tops off of Resolute Scarlett and Rise of Cobra Cover Girl and Helix's neck-posts, removing their feet, trimming down the ends of their legs and reboring the holes for their foot-pegs and even using a spare pair of RoC Hawk's legs on Cover Girl because her own were so freakishly long (especially relative to her tiny torso), all just to try and get them down to a slightly shorter height than their male counterparts.

That’s a lot of work! I can appreciate the effort to correct something like that.

I never knew that He-Man was such a runt. It explains why he works out all the time. He’s a compensator if I’ve ever seen one. 😎

The woman, whoever that may be, has a giraffe neck. Her shoulders are clearly lower than Conan-wannabe.
I doubt Callahan's height will be much noticeable. With the standard body, I may buy two and put an alien head on it (provided I still find an interesting alien).

I went from very interested to might pass, I don't know why they bother doing a female character and then just slapping it on male sculpt ruining it.
Yeah, that's kind of where I am at the moment too. I canceled the E-Wing a few months ago because I'm trying to spend less, but I still had every intention of getting Callahan. I might be saving even more money than I thought.

Those are actually the last two Classics figures I have left (sold off all the others because the New Eternia figures just look so good and have better articulation). They still look great astride Classics Battle Cat, which is how I have them displayed.

Thanks! They were pretty delicate operations in places, but I was pretty happy with the end results.

Scarlett, Snake Eyes (in his "Parisian Derelict" disguise) and a Duke I head-swapped with Resolute Duke so I wouldn't have to look at Channing Tatum's permanently-puckered lips:

(the yellow gunk on Scarlett's crotch is from where a previous owner krazy-glued her directly to a die-cast 1/18th-scale motorcycle)

Modified Scarlett with my kitbashed/customized Duke, Snake Eyes and Ripcord:

Cover Girl and Girl:

(there's some kind of optical illusion at work here; the modified one should look considerably shorter, just look at where her belt sits versus the factory version)

Resolute Scarlett and Pursuit of Cobra Commando Snake Eyes:

The figure ended up looking a little ape-armed, but I wasn't certain I could do anything about it.

With Renegades Scarlett, whose body save the head was later re-used for Palicki's Lady Jaye in G.I. Joe: Retaliation (because of course it was):

Ah... I wish I had the money to go all-in on Masterverse. Such a well-made line with such appealing redesigns of the MOTU cast.

I'll be waiting for a sale due to the leg issue, if Hasbro can go cheap why can't I?
Then I'll just swap them out with appropriate sized legs, I only need 2-3 anyway.

I’ve ALWAYS wanted a true 3.75” MOTU line, with a bit of articulation and realism. I have the Super7s and the old McDonald’s pack-ins, but a real 3.75” just isn’t to be. As for Callahan, maybe the scale won’t end up being so bad. Those Joe customs show just how much difference the slightest adjustments can make.

And let's remember, these figures shown are prototypes. So maybe the actual production goes through some strategic shrinkage..

There’s TVC, and then there’s The Black Series.

amazon asleep at the wheel..... neither tvc or tbs are up live yet

I like her. But I think, she looks better when she's wearing her helmet. 🤭 (In German we would say she has a "Pfannkuchen" face...)

Ordered one, last but not least as my E-Wing is on approach.

And these two - "Backpfeifengesicht" ;)

Real actors never have a chance if they incorporate former animated characters. The human brain attaches too strongly to stylized features. It works better the other way round (which is why I believe an animated Heir to the Empire series might have been successful if Disney had decided to go that way).

Guess logistics played a role in that, but surely someone at Hasbro should have thought about this and TVC' main issue is not tying things together too well. I can't believe they couldn't have switched slots from another retool from this year with this figure.

Backpfeifengesicht... Funny to read such here. 🤭
My favourite German word. ;)

But honestly, I don't get it. Maybe because I haven't watched Ashoka + Mando S3 until know?
The two of them spend a lot of the series either looking smug or lecturing other characters or lecturing other characters while looking smug. Hence, when you mentioned "Pfannkuchen" in reference to the face of a character from the Ahsoka series my brain immediately jumped to "Backpfeifengesicht." 🤫

Surprised Hasbro didn't cheap out on this and take most of the parts from Luke Pilot. I am thinking of buying two. My original plan, which hopefully will still work, is to take the head from the Hoth Trooper 4 pack and make the male pilot from the show. It looks like they have identical helmets, so as long as Hasbro gives us the proper size neck post, it should be an easy swap. Thanks to our friends at Bantha Skull for the image.
