Leia - D'Qar

You've come rolling up on these boards like a straight up customizing gangsta!

LOL! A customizing gansta, I've never been called that before! I might have to start putting that in my signature!

That is a gorgeous repaint. The biggest issue with straight-out-of-the-box D'Qar Leia is those incredible (in other words, barely believable that somebody ok'ed this paint job) Chola eyebrows.

Cheers!

I find it hard to beleive that someone looked at those eyebrows, and thought "yep, that's terrific, we are really proud of this figure!"

One thing that I always find helpful, is to strip off the original paint app, that way you can get a good look at the sculpt underneath, and see what you are working with.

The factory paint is on so thick, that hides pretty much all of the detail in the sculpt!

How fine of a grade of sandpaper did you use?

I do it with adhesive remover. Let the head soak for a couple of minutes, then scrub the paint off with an old brush!

Ah. Any chance you could share what your materials are in terms of the adhesive remover and your paints?

BTW, your brush work on the new eyebrows was really good!

Thanks!

I use Evo-Stik Adhesive Cleaner to remove the paint, and I always paint using acrylics.

You have inspired me to try and re-paint this figure. First things first I need to find it.

For paint removal from PVC type plastics (heads, most TVC and TBS figures), I use Goof Off (available at Walmart in a yellow and red metal container) in small amounts on a Q-tip. Use in a well-ventilated area, and it should come off easily in a few wipes. It works on other plastics, too, but tends to melt polystyrene (astromechs, bodies on POTF figures) a bit by the time you get the paint off.

Found this figure today. Didn't really want it, but its the only TFA Leia we've got, so...

DVaderFan's version being the exception, I'm not very impressed with it. Lots of free space in that packaging, they couldn't have tossed in an accessory of some kind? I'm pretty sure the figure would have done just fine without the articulated ankles.

The no accessory thing is really a bother. At the very least they could have given her something, right? I don't hate the figure because it is a new Leia, but why would they think we want this version of Leia before the more action-oriented Leia, especially when the general version isn't even scheduled for the 5 POA line.

I wonder of Hasbro is going to give us a general version in the E VII waves.

The only way it makes sense they did this Han and Leia for the premium line, is if the regular versions were in the standard line. Then it makes sense. Thats exactly what happened with Han. With Leia though...ahem....... You have to figure Luke and regular like were scheduled with 5POA line, and some waves got pushed back? Cos I still find it really weird that there hasnt been a new wave for so long......

^ yeah you have to wonder if the wv2 peg-clogging-fest caused wv3 to be the unintended "final" wave AND ep8 getting pushed back to dec 17 opened an opportunity/time frame to release what could've been TFA wv4(2016) just on new cards in 2017. If that's the case, it seems a leaked pic of at least 1 prototype would've gotten out

oops i forgot i was replying in the SA thread, my reply was more geared for the basic POA line in mind, but I suppose the same could apply for the SA WM line considering the crapload of Poes/Finns/Endor Hans that plagued WM since the holidays. hidering SK Han/Leia/Phasma's arrival

I'm happy to have this figure, but I agree that an accessory would have been nice, especially considering the pricepoint. I'm sure Hasbro will bring up some BS excuse that the softgoods were too expensive to allow an accessory, lol. How about the holographic map to find Luke? That would have been a fitting accessory, sadly Hasbro isn't creative when it comes to accessories anymore - the entire TBS line is rather lackluster in the accessories department, only Rey was done right.

As for General Leia, I'm really thinking the original ponytail she sported delayed her 5 POA figure. I'll bet Hasbro sculpted her that way and had to resculpt the head after the ponytail was digitally removed from the film. Hopefully she'll be released in an RO assortment, because her episode 8 outfit is likely to be different.

I used to remember when they gave a figure just any unrelated accessory, to complete that "play value". Boy those were the days...
My guess is that she never handled anything, so Hasbro felt no one would notice. Or care.

More like they figured only collectors would get this and would complain that she came with a weapon she didn't use in the movie.

She's peg warming here and unless she's $5 or less, I wouldn't be interested. If they gave her the general uniform, then I would have gotten her.

Yes, with Han I can see the logic (whether I like it or not;)), however, you're right with Leia, it just doesn't make sense.

When I see the offerings for the fall, I think we'll also see a smattering of Rebels figures as well (when did we first see some of those again??). With a Rebels Leia in the line, I don't know if Hasbro will put an ST Leia out there as well. Also, the figures we did see are going to cut into whatever they had planned for RO. I'm assuming they were pretty far into the planning when E VIII got pushed back, so it is possible they decided to hold back Luke and Leia for later. I really hope that RO doesn't get short-changed because of E VIII getting pushed back. It seems like they wouldn't have had much time to make a bunch of RO stuff when the original plan was for E VIII to come out about 5-6 months later.

finally saw this figure. It's not good IMO, the soft goods don't work well, but the headsculpt it's pretty good. I considered buying it because we don't have another Leia from TFA (and I wonder if we ever will). But I think I will wait for the other costume figure......

If it had been the General version with a blaster, I would have gotten at least one extra for customs. This one sucks though.

still boggles my mind that Hasbro went with the formal dress end of TFA Leia over the General Leia in fatigues that we see in the most of in the movie. I'm really hoping that they get around to making her in the next wave of figures for 2017

I agree. It's a real mystery why they didn't realise the other version. Surely they had to have planned it? I can understand why they didn't do Luke, but this is a real mystery.

Hell, with a different head, gear and some paint she could have even been the basis of a great Endor Leia!

Damn, I haven't examined them side by side yet but I was hoping. Supposedly the previous Endor Leia leaves a lot to be desired? She's one I'll need to get sooner than later.
yeah have a look they are very different.
Do you want a ROTJ General Leia? Or and Endor Leia? The VOTC Endor Leia has a great Gen Leia underneath the poncho. As for Endor Leia, it depends if you like soft goods or not, so it's VOTC or Saga Legends, both are great.

That's good to know, thanks. I'll have to keep an eye out for either one of those. Soft goods don't bother me in the slightest when they're done at least halfway competently and look like they fit. Sadly, that's not always the case...

I agree with you that they need to make general leia and that version would have been a better choice than ceremonial leia but don't you think they are going to focus any remaining slots on RO figures for now up until it's time to start thinking of episode viii figures?

Possible when hasbro was brought on board they were under the impression that particular version of Leia played a larger part of the film at that time. A lot of material was cut from TFA.

unlikely. Leia was clearly filmed in that one costume for the majority of the film and her scenes. The events that take place while she is in the blue dress are not expansive.

I dunno, I'd like to see an upgrade. The existing figure is TINY and has a giraffe neck. It's not bad, but definitely shows its age.
I agree about the neck, but I guess her height is about right. They seem to be all over the place with Leias scale at times. But she is very petite and though the very small figures look a little weird, they are accurate.

I always thought Hasbro went too far with the tiny Leia figures, but they do seem close to scale: Carrie Fisher is 5 feet tall. My daughter and I were watching the Star Wars marathon on TV last Friday, and it hit both of us how much shorter Leia is than the others. She only comes up to Han's shoulder, and Chewbacca looks even taller next to her.

I finally found one of these in the wild! I was so excited that I didn't have to get one on ebay...

Yea she's a pegwarmer like most of them are. Only FO Stormtroopers, Royal Guards & Death Troopers sell fast. Even Phasma is a warmer most of the time.

These images have popped up on Ebay via a Hong Kong seller, nothing has been confirmed about this item other then her likeness is horrible.

Thoughts on this item?

Chances are it's a bootleg... They do that all the time. Mind you, the figure could do with some improvements likeness-wise.

She's definitely one you've got to search through numerous copies to find a decent one. I've seen some that look alright, but still didn't buy since I have little interest in this version of the figure.

Must be nice. The only things that have been warming pegs here (for a year) are Finn, Poe, Luke, and Han.
