Great to see this character but I don’t like the pose and GG need to get over their obsession of giving everyone a gun!

This was my most wanted cantina citizen and I was demanding that minibust because was perfect for a Halloween special for his obvious appearance. Very happy to see that Gentle Giant listen the collectors!

The pose is a little over the top.
He doesn’t need a gun.
The costume isn’t screen accurate.
But I still like it. Credit to GG for making another new obscure character, I remember a lot of people wanted this one after Lak Sivrak last year. Already ordered mine, at 500 I wonder how long it’ll hang around.

Fantastic looking bust and an original character. Nice.

I'll add this to my 20+ pre-orders.

Man, I thought I had a lot of pre-orders… I’ve got 17!

I’m glad you pointed out the fact that it was limited to 500… I almost didn’t order it right away, but I ordered it now.

An OT Cantina character. It’s literally a no brainer for a pre order. Only just woke up here in the UK and was hoping it hadn’t sold out considering it’s only ES 500.

What I like the most about this bust is the head. The pose is too Halloweenesque. And why is he holding a DL-18 Jabbas's guard blaster?

Always down for Original Trilogy weirdos.

$87 out the door after $15 in rewards and free shipping.

But yeah, I’m up to 22 preorders now… and October is almost over with only two or three mini-busts shipping this year. At this rate we’ll see this one in seven years.

I've just got mine ordered. It came up to $104.01 with shipping included after using some reward points I had accumulated. I'll be happy to have it sitting on my shelf in 2023 when it gets delivered with Tessek. Yeah, baby!

I love it ordered it as soon as I saw it. It's definitely one I want in my collection. Very fiendish looking. The gun doesn't bother me but it would have been nice to see a drink in his mitt. AT this point I forgot how many of these I have on PO and I'm sure I'll be a lot greyer before I see many of them.

Oooh.....well done, GG! (y)

Werewolf? :check:
Devil? :check:

Now it gets a little tougher. What would be a good choice for next year's Halloween.......a Skeleton?

These rather obscure, background cantina denizens seem like long-shots to ever get a bust made, but appear to me to be the most-Halloween looking. A lot of the other creatures start to veer more into classic Sci-Fi trope aliens.

What are your thoughts or suggestions?

For the next year I would pick Nute Gunray. Had a lot of support during the PGM vote and also I think have this Alien 👽 look that can fit with the Halloween theme.

While I have nothing against GG making a Nute Gunray, let's just keep the flow of Cantina patrons going, before going into the PT. It seems this is basically the only way we will be getting them, and at the pace GG go with their releases and their delivery, getting in characters away from the Cantina will make it practically impossible in our lifetime to have all Cantina patrons. Nute should be made at some point, but let's keep the Cantina patrons going, please. Stick to it, GG.

I'm gonna have to agree with Sith on this one. The Cantina scene is an inmmense source for alien characters,. Below are some of them still not made. The Halloween release appears to cater to their releases and that's a plus. Not saying every single collector wants them, but many sure enough have been asking for years to see these characters get the Mini Bust treatment, even if it is at the count of one drop a year ...

With all the respect, I always was supporting in this forum and social media the release of Jabba's palace and Cantinas denizens and fortunately in few time a lot have been produced or announced, probably more than I expected and I'm completely happy for that. But why don't give and opportunity to another type of characters too for the Halloween special? Not all the "scary look of Halloween" Star Wars characters are from this two scenes.

Although I'm solely an OT collector at this point as far as displaying goes, but still purchasing PT for future display once we buy a bigger place, I'm a firm believer what people want should be made and Nute Gunray is one of those characters that should be made and I would buy, thus I understand your desire for Nute. But allow me to give you my take on this ....

All things considered, I think the Halloween releases (for now) should remain loyal to what triggered interest among many when it was first announced, that being the Cantina scene characters. This has been one of the most iconic scenes in the Star Wars realm (often imitated), showcasing the striking look of all those aliens gathered in one place, such wretched hive of scum and villainy. Once you start to introduce characters from other trilogies into what's given a first impression to be an event geared to the release of Cantina characters, it would feel like going to a well known burger joint and seeing they also sell pizza; It would feel a bit out of place. Taking under account the positive reaction a new Cantina or Jabba's Palace character gets when offered, and considering the Halloween celebration as a small window of opportunity for Cantina aliens to see the light of day from a maker that most of its product these days comes from what has been created after Lucas, the release of these characters wanted for a long time, is something that in my view takes a hold of new and old collectors alike. Let's be frank, and this is coming from someone like me who likes the PT and even appreciates Jar-Jar in it, not everyone has been into the PT, some even hated it, and still do... with a passion. I'm not intending to take away from the recognized liking Nute Gunray has garnered among many collectors (I like him myself), but I think a little window of opportunity should be first given to a classic that started it all. Call it homage if you will, to what enriched pop culture with amazing places and alien characters from a scene that still creates excitement almost 45 years after hitting the screen. Anyway, that is my logic behind the wanting for more Cantina aliens and the list I posted above.

Having said this, I do think that perhaps another yearly event should be created where aliens from the PT should be given a chance to exist and be expected. Nute Gunray and any other characters from the PT should be made and offered as regular releases through the year as well. We've gotten a ton of Maul, Vader, Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Luke, Leia, etc. (all likeable characters) but I feel the excitement for these has started to wear off to some degree. As a whole, alien characters from Cantina aliens to Nute Gunray to Crolute, Abednedo and Kuiil to name just a few, deserve their own Mini Bust. A rainbow of characters can only make our display more interesting and visually appealing. :)

Mini bust reminds me of one of my favorite characters from the comics... Vilmarh, from the Jedi Quinlan Vos comics... definitely buying.

I don't go for this automatic GG/DST assumption that your character can't be 'Bust-Worthy' if he
doesn't have a BFG-9000 (or equivalent) in his hand. Do bust collectors 'play with' their Mini-Busts with their
hands, and make them pew-pew at each other?

I don't.

I'd buy this guy if I could swap out the arm with the blaster for one that didn't.

My 2 cents...

-Wolf

EDIT: Funny how the left/right-hand knuckles/hands don't look symmetric. Maybe his left hand got stepped on by a bantha. Also, I wasn't commenting on the photoshopped pic ( just above -- and kudos on that), but on the original gun in the GG promo shots.

Nothing new , Wolf. The issue with the blasters is something that's been brought up to their consideration for many years. But I guess they see the mini busts as pew-pew Hasbro action figures. At least with Hasbro's blasters being removable you have the choice to give the figure a weapon or not, something you cannot do with a molded hand with a blaster on a mini bust. Actually some of GG's best mini busts came with no weapons: Veers, Amidala, AT-AT Driver, Lobot, Nien Nunb, Bib Fortuna. Yeah, lightsword's picture is a relaxed critique of such issue. What else can we do when no one listens. We buy it or we don't. I'm just happy we are getting another Cantina patron.
