Looks like Hasbro has plans for a Clone Wars Jedi Temple Guard

full

Who’s excited to see a Jedi Temple Guard made in the Black Series line?

I missed the boat on this guy. Never cared for it back in the day, still don't. Always seemed out of place, like an embarrassing video game thing or some nonsense.

As much I love new unique figures, and I definatly will add this one to my collection for sure, I still don't get the hype behind the JTG 🤪🤪
I don't even remember when/if these guys even showed up somewhere life-action, animated or videogame.
Anyway I am happy for everyone who asked for this to finaly get it. To me, I am just happy his yearlong most-wanted spot on different vote-lists gets finaly clear for someone else 😉🤪

Well, they don't really do much in the animated (TCW + Rebels) shows, which is where they've appeared only, so far.
Unless of course you count the Grand Inquisitor, but we never saw him in live action as a Jedi Temple Guard.

For me it's their apperance, their sort of mysterious presence with never speaking etc. Much like the Anbu in Naruto. I view them as kind of an elite unit of Jedi - the Green Berets/Delta Force/Navy Seals, only perhaps slightly more like Shaolin monks.

They are kind of the light side version of the red guards from the Empire, remnants and First order.

Speaking of which, the live-action flashbacks, were a huge missed opportunity to show them. For example, I would've liked to see them possibly slowing Vader down inside the temple

For me, the most notable thing they did was challenge Kanan in his vision.

Or seeing them become converted. That could be pretty fascinating.

Battle technique sure, but mental fortitude? All Jedi are not equal in all areas, each one ash their own strengths. JTG's may also not be as strong in the sense of force abilities only in saber wielding. Though, TBH I never really understood the point of them in general since we're talking about Jedi here. Why do they even need guards? Any one of them can handle themselves if attacked. lol
I always thought of them as more ornamental, but also as simple as "servants" in the sense they would escort you somewhere etc. or simply keeping the peace. Implying they're basically a police force within the order to arrest or apprehend fellow colleagues implies they've had issues for many years with unruly Jedi, whether its simply a Padawan argument that went too far or actual turncoats. At least with Senate Guards they makes sense be cause the general public doesn't always agree with policy being made and you want your officials to have protection.

Character wise I like their looks and all but as a concept didn't really make as much sense. Most Temples I have ever seen don't generally have "guards" anyway, they have custodians who look after the place.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

You'd think they would be the easiest to convert, being merely guards thus likely not as strong in the Force as full fledge Jedi Masters etc.

I kind of figured they were more devout and committed to the Jedi Order. Pretend Anakin and Obi Wan were content with Anakin not being trained as a Jedi.

Also being a Temple Guard, my interpretation was that they were committed to guarding the temple and all the information and traditions/rituals of the Jedi. Let suppose that's the case, NOW consider what must have happened to convert them to Inquisitors? What did it take to completely and wholly turn the Grand Inquisitor? What made him feel so betrayed and forsaken that he gave himself to the dark side? That'd be a story worth exploring. Did he have jedi friends? Did Kelleran Beq or Quinlas Vos try to convince him to escape or rescue padawans and he refused to leave his post?

The facts that the Temple Guardians wear anonymous masks and carry all of those keys present all kinds of interesting implications.
